In your own words, define what the act of roleplaying is:

 

just a really fun thing to do with friends! It’s much like acting, but in many senses very, very different. You immerse yourself into a character YOU create, not some character from a play script. You get to play them out, make a story from their actions and what you do with, and have a whole bunch of fun while doing it!

In your own words, define what the act of meta-gaming is: Meta gaming is when you know something your character wouldn't be able to know. A common one used for examples is when you look at some ones name plate above their head, and know exactly where and who they are. Your character wouldn't be able to know these things.

 

 

 In your own words, define what the act of power-emoting is:

power-emoting is: When people in character do things that are incredibly Over-powered, as
in...abilities that make it impossible to hit someone, things that make your
characters, and other nonsense that overpowers them in roleplay




 

In-Character Details

Character Name: Tobias Stark

Character Race: Northerner

Character biography - Make this at least 2 paragraphs long, which must explain your character’s history, appearance, personality, age and any other details you deem necessary:

Tobias and Tova
were born with just a year and a few months separating them, Tobias being the
eldest. He and his sister were born to a tanner and his wife in a small Northern
village. Their father was a great warrior in their village, rumored to have
fought the gods themselves. He was admired by all of his people, except for his
family. At home he was a brutal man, forcing his wife and children to serve him
hand and foot. If they refused, they were beaten. Without warning, his wife
left her husband and two children behind, unable to live under such conditions
anymore. Her children, seven and eight years old at the time, could not understand
why their mother left them with such a horrid man.

Tobias and Tova served their father, doing all the
chores and feeding him. There were many times that Tobias tried to stick up to
his father, but suffered under the blows of his father’s fists every time. His
sister submitted to her father willingly, but not happily. She did as she was
told to avoid being punched. There was many times, however, when the evil man
would get drunk and beat her and Tobias just to do it. She did nothing but let
the blows rain down on her until finally she slipped into welcome
unconsciousness.

One day in particular, their father came home from
the tavern, stumbling through the door and slamming it shut. In a roar of
drunken rage he found his daughter Tova making a stew at the fireplace. He
grabbed the pot from the fire, tossing its contents on the floor, and grabbed
Tova by her hair. Her screams alerted her brother outside, who had been
chopping wood. He reached the doorway just in time to see his father shove
Tova’s face into the hot coals of the fire. He rushed forward, threw his weight
into his father, and knocked the man off his feet. He released his grip on the
girl and she scrambled away from the flames. Tobias grabbed a club that their
father used when he went to battle from off the wall and swung it at the drunk,
rendering him unconscious. Before he could come to again, he hastily gathered
some supplies in a sack, grabbed his sister’s arm and his father’s knee-length
jacket with fake gold buttons, and ran away from their home, never looking
back. They made their way to their uncle’s house (their mother’s brother) to
live with him and his son.

Tobias, now eighteen, is a moody teen who often
spends his day playing music. Tobias doesn’t speak about what happened to him
and Tova; he often denies anything happened. When asked, he claims his father
sent them into the world to learn from their experiences. Tobias learned to
feed himself and Tova using a bow and snares, which became one of his defining
talents, besides playing music. Tobias isn’t a fighter, but he will protect
those who he loves, Tova and childhood friend Ruka. They are his only true
friends.  He is normally shy, and gets
depressed sometimes. When he and his sister left, he started to steal and pawn
off the items for coins, which he’d never admit to doing. Sometimes forgets his
mother, and tells people he doesn’t have one, usually called the Bastard of The
North.

 

 What are your characters ambitions?: To forget the pass, and be happy, with his hunting life style.

Open-Response-Questions

Upon entering the Mighty Human City of Arethor, you come across a shop-keeper calling out to sell his wares to passers-by. The shopkeeper is not a Human, he is a poor dwarf looking to make a living in a new city. What is your response?

*Tobias walks over to the dwarf, curious looking
over the items the dwarven shop keeper has*

Dwarf: Hello lad ye’ see anything ye’ like?

Tobias: Aye, what is the item wrapped in the cloth?

*Unwraps the item, showing a finely made sword,
Tobias cannot use swords very well, but knows he needs one to live, and protect
his family. The Sword is made of steel, with a wolf carved in the hilt, very
much a northern made blade*

Tobias: Very fine blade indeed. But, I must ask
where did ye’ get a Nordic blade?

Dwarf: Ye’ very curious aren’t ye’ lad? Come sit
down, I will tell ye’ the story.

Dwarf: This blade, I got it in when I was passing
by a Nordic city, coming down from the mountain halls of course! *Dwarf laughs
and then smiles to himself, remembering the memory of the halls* This poor
lass, had just lost her sons in war, this blade was her eldest sons. She, had
no source of money anymore lad, so I brough this sword for more it was worth.

Tobias: Very calm of ye.. *puts a small bag of
coins on the table*

Dwarf: Thank ye’ lad, she would be happy to know,
another man of the north got it.

*Walks off swinging the blade*



You’re wandering the Oren Road late at night, when a large Orc begins to threaten a nearby dwarf. There is no help nearby, and the situation looks like it will escalate into violence soon, what does your character do?

*hears the song of the oncoming violence, Tobias
being afraid of conflict, hides in the trees clinging onto the shadows
listening and watching*

Orc: "Ug, minahs, uman!"

*looks shocked, and out of focus, as no one
understands Orc, The giant Greenskin rises his axe into the air*

Dwarf: NO PLEASE LET ME LI- *rises his hands*

*the mightly blade swings down onto the dwarves
arms, which is cut off*

Orc: WUB WUB!

*Orc goes on to cut off the dwarves legs and arms,
reachs for the dwarves coinpurse and only a few pieces fall out, orc with a
wide smiles full of yellow teeth, and then runs off*

*Tobias runs out of the trees to the dwarf and
stands over him*

Dwarf: Lad… *Looks up at him*

Dwarf: Do it… *points to the dagger on his belt*

Tobias: No.. I cant.. I cannot do th-

Dwarf: GODDAMN LAD! STOPPING BEING A WIMP! AND
FINISH THE BLOODLY ORCS JOB!

*draws his dagger from its steathe, and raises it
in the air, as tears fall from his eyes, then swifty thrusts the dagger into
the dwarves neck*

 

Whilst walking down the road to Malinor, you stumble upon an old man. His walking stick , looks weak and frail, and just as you are about to ask something, the stick breaks, and the man falls to the ground. As he falls down, a bag of Minas falls to the ground, and splits open. As you watch the multiple coins spill out, you peer down at the defenceless man. What does your character do?:

*notices the old man, and runs over to help him
then notices the gold and reachs to it, but mid reach he stops himself, and
looks over at the old man, on the ground helpless, as his better senses take
over*

Tobias: Sir? Can I help ye’?

*the old man looks over to tobias and with a sad
nod, allows him to help*

Tobias: Where can I take ye?

Old man: Take me.. to the old inn… “The Lovers rose”
bring me to me’ wife.. she cooks in the back, around the brick fence is the
gate to the back…

*nods weakly, and picks up the man, who for a older
man is light, and carrys him though the old city, soon he makes it to the inn*

Old Man’s Wife: OI! WHAT THE HELL YE DOING BACK HERE!

Tobias: I was ju-

Old Man: OI DON’T TALK TO ME FRIEND THAT WAY!
GODDAMN IT

Wife: OI! YE DON’T TALK TO A WOMEN THAT WAY!

Old man: I DON’T EVEN KNOW YE A WOMEN ANY MOVE! YE
NEVER GIVE ME A GOOD TIME ANY MORE! I HAVE TO GET THE BAR MAIDS!

*The wife’s jaw opens in shock as her face goes
lava red, and tobias trys to hide his smile*

Wife: YE CHEATING NO GOOD BASTARD

*tobias walks out of the inn’s yard, and goes on to
his own business laughing the whole way.
