Definitions

In your own words define the following

terms. Do not take any definitions from elsewhere!:

Role-playing: Being able to create a character build upon your RL interests and

abilities but changing its setting in an entire new world, where you have to

get used to the envoirment, player created factions, cities and economy.

(fascinating!)

Meta-gaming: Using out of character information into your In character,

information that your in Character shouldn’t know, using that information for

his purpose.

Power-emoting: the abuse of writing acts, (for example, "cutting johns

head and throwing it away") without the other player ("john") being

able to defend. It takes the ability to other players to respond or prevent

actions.

In-Character Information:

Complete the following biography on

your character:

Full Name: Jon Ásbirningar

Current Age: 27

Sub-race (if any): Northener

Past / History (include childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long):

Born into a hunter family, I grew and stayed all my childhood in the

forest, living in the Longhouse of the Ásbirningar, I learned from my father

all I could about hunting, the art of arrow making, we even were great farmers

for being people of the north. The deep pagan background i had in my childhood

is very important for me, I learned the secrets of the old gods, to praise

trees and lakes and the best.. to be a patient hunter. I remember when i hunted

my first deer, I was only 15... You know that the deer can walk in winter up to

twenty kilometers a day without stopping? I had to follow him close, I had only

12 arrows, I was hungry and walked for days behind him, getting into a trance

full of desperation and spirituality. For every arrow i missed, the deer

learned to know me, to know and sense my moves. On the second week everything

changed, somehow the deer went close to me, but it was different, I felt like

somebody was helping me. I finally got close to the coast where the deer was

trapped. It was a clean shot, a clean kill, I know the gods where there.. I

still feel them when i hunt. But the gods took something from me, after

arriving home I had the luck (or the bad luck) to listen to my mothers last

breath.. The winter is no easy thing you know? I have lost all of my brothers

and sisters sick by the white winter.. I don't really think I survived because I

was the strongest, I did possibly because I was the smartest. But my father

couldn't handle it too and the gods took him from me.. But I was holding what I

learned from them including how to build a longhouse.

I never thought I would, but I left the forest, I was desperate, Should I

Enlist the army as a bowman? Should I sell my flesh to this arrogant town

people? I couldn't stand them, but I was alone...

I found a town after walking some days around, after living some days on

the dirty streets I started to work as a guide for the merchants that had to

cross the forest, I lived of the travelers and merchants tips, tips I don't

really need, everything I need is in the forest, but the merchants and

travelers told stories, about places full of sand, where the sun hits you like

thunders, where the people are black like the night, they around a place called

Salvus or something...

All this stories woke something inside me, a journey... A journey that

is beginning right now.

Ambitions for the Future:

Start a Family and teach my sons the best thing I can: Hunting, of

course I would love to live in a Longhouse and first discover the south and the

rest of this mysterious world, or maybe the gods will have another plan for me,

maybe building a temple? All the doors are open for me right now; I just hope

to choose the right one.

Personality: Quiet and and observer, Friendly by nature and a defender

of my kind. "I am an

observer and contemplator, prone to making things when words wouldn’t otherwise

do justice."

Skills:

-Good sense of direction

-Woodcutting

-Hunting

-Building Longhouses

-Fishing

-Surviving in the wild

-Bowmaster

Appearance (this must include an in-game screenshot of your skin):

Tall, not very muscular for a person of the north, wears a beards and

dresses in leather clothes.

Open-Response-Questions

Each question in this section must be answered with a

minimum of one paragraph which must describe the event in full. Please be as descriptive as possible anddo not break character or lore

at any point.

____

1. Whilst in the

mighty human capital you notice a dark-clothed figure stealthily making his way

towards the Emperor’s palace - he is clearly

up to no good. There are guards within shouting

distance - what do you do?

Answer: I don't really want to get in trouble, and the last place I would like

to get in trouble is in a dirty city, I guess that emperor must have a lot of

enemies, maybe if I help the guards I could get a little help from that

powerful man.. I get to a secure place, near a wall perhaps and whistle at the

guards pointing at the dark figure, It looks like the guards where looking for

him, I feel kind of guilty for the man in the black veil, they threw him to the

floor and started to kick him really hard, I honestly thought that cities are a

place of civilization, hope and maturity.. Not a place of Barbary.. I guess I

will be more careful next time, good luck the man in black didn't see my face.

2. Whilst wandering in the

deep oak forest you come across a large clearing, in which

sits a small cobbled cottage. Outside it stands an unstable old man armed

with a small iron blade, surrounded by two

heavily armed bandits - they appear to be threatening him. You are

armed with leather armor and an

iron longsword, how do you react?

Answer: Well I’m used to this situation, it kind of reminds me of the thieves

when I started guiding people into the forest, well I usually surprise them or

confront them acting really secure, these thieves are usually 14 year old hopeless

people. I jump to them in a surprise attack hitting them with the other side of

my sword to knock them, fast and clean, it depends how the farmer reacts, maybe

I could get a sleep at his farm, a sip of his milk? Well, the thieves are

knocked in the floor, its his problem what he will do with the two, I just did

my job helping him a little out.

3. You are standing within the mighty human

capital when you notice a small man standing behind

a colorful stall. You approach the stall and notice

that the man is selling a variety

of general goods - he says that he is selling

just about anything and that he has no set prices. He is willing to allow you to haggle and choose

prices. What do you do? (Explain: your haggling, items of choice and the

discussion that happens).

Answer: I usually don't handle with merchants because I usually find everything

in the nature, but I was in need of some fine arrow tips, the last one I made didn’t

really work, and broke after one use so I thought about buying some for me.

"Mate, how much for the arrow tips?" - "what yak offering for ,

young one?". Well it was obvious he asked that, my merchant skills aren't

really good... so I start to offering some deer antlers I had hanging in my

bag, he looks quite impressed, you have to know, there are a lot of artisans

that are interested in antlers for their work. "Oh, interesting" he

says while trying to touch the antlers, "from a red deer, right? Boy you

come far from the north, do ya?” I just nod while observing the arrow tips. Are

these possibly southern origin? They looked sharp as a fishers knife.. - "

I will give you half of my arrow tips, ya?" - oh gods, this city people

trying to make bad business.. These are the moments when I really miss my

forest.. and.. My family. "I come from the far north but that doesn't mean

I am stupid sir", "haha" laughs the merchant -" all right, I

will give you all the tips for the antlers, a special offer for

"friends" huh?” I have the tips, he has the antlers. Its funny how

everyone calls everyone a "friend"...

Your application has been...

Interesting character idea and a good application. There is some powergaming in the second Open Response Question, remember that you must always give the other side in an encounter the chance to fight back.
