Lord_Sauron_ 43 Share Posted March 17, 2013 An elf standing a little away from the rest speaks up. "And you shall have it, Azel." Vanir addresses him in person for the first time, for once not hiding his eyes with a hood. "You have the bow and quill of Vanir Laefien, for what they are worth. You will have the support of the Mali. Now, however, it is up to you to wield it."
Dromui 755 Share Posted March 17, 2013 Azel smiles and bows. "Thank you Vanir, most honored and respected Elf before me."
VonEbs 1224 Share Posted March 17, 2013 "The crisis we are facing today is unlike any one that Malinor has faced in the entirety of its history. The situation is perhaps more perilous than the undead invasion during Aegis, and certainly more dire than anything encountered by the Mali in the last century. Through all of our perils, we have placed our trust in the High Council of Malinor, and it seems, for the just the latest in a series of similar occurences, we have misplaced our trust. This war has been declared on the persons inhabiting the seats of the High council of malinor and all that remain loyal, and they all express the hope that a peaceful solution can be attained, but only with a government with wiser, less incredible figures. Perhaps it is time for new leaders, but I believe that it should be up to the Mali to choose them, not the current government nor foriegn powers who presume to meddle in Elvish politics. Even with the forces of Darkhaven, we stand no chance against the combined might of what likes to call itself the civilized world, so either we must surrender to the mecy of them, or meet their demands. I do not think that the individuals whose folly has undeniably gotten us into this terrible mess can be unconditinally trusted to make these decisions alone anymore, accountable to no one but themselves. In business, if you do a bad job, or are incompetent, or make an unforgiveable mistake, you find yourself unemployed. Perhaps that will also apply to the current High Council. In business, the market decides whether a shop will stay open, and in international politics, the other nations get to choose whether to patronize a certain government or look for new management. The singular thing that the High Council seems to forget often is that it is they that serve the people of Malinor, not the other way around. They have abused the Mali, manipulating them as they wish, unable to control the chaotic forces they created to mantain order. They have trifled with things they did not possibly understand, and now they are paying the price, and so are we, for placing our trust in them. In my opinion, the mali need to reassess whether the High council is trustworthy or not, for they stand accused of grave crimes against the dwarves of Urguan, and greater crimes against the people of Malinor." Dromui 755 Share Posted March 17, 2013 "Yes Ebs, I agree with you one hundred percent. I know Darkhaven cannot stand before the others that wish to destroy Malinor, but I wish to show we will fight and die if it comes to that. That is not what I wish for though. I come in not to take over, but to show the Mali of Malinor that there are others among them and outside of Malinor that can fill the roles needed within the High Council. I seek a meeting with the High Council, the cowards that hide away or flee to die another day. If they do not come forth, I say the Elves of Malinor and Darkhaven vote for a new High Prince or Princess, and then Elves to sit with him or her on the council. Otherwise Malinor will not change, and we will be crushed."
Bircalin 332 Share Posted March 17, 2013 "Azel, I have great faith that your kin speak nothing but the utmost truth when they make claims of your leadership prowess. However, it is my concern that you wish to claim the position of High Prince and I feel obliged to respectfully object to such a thing. Although my trust is placed in you, I feel that with such a position of responsibility and influence, the dark kin of Darkhaven may be favoured over matters due to their Patron's heritage. I am in the agreement that the people of Malinor should elect their High Princess or Prince, and with them a singular council made of the Princes and Princesses below them, as was the scheme of Laurelin in Aegis. Shown curiosity, I will gladly oblige to elaborating on said point."
VonEbs 1224 Share Posted March 17, 2013 "You are proposing the establishment of a rival council that will truly represent Malinor in her time of great distress? While that is a bold idea, it will be a hard fought battle with those that oppose freedom for the Mali. I firmly believe that Malinor needs a documebt of some sort, agreed upon by the people, which will serve as a foundation for the new society we must build. The simple directive of "Serve the Mali well" no longer is strong enough to guide our leaders. Perhaps a moot of all Mali should be called to create something similar to what I have described?" Lord_Sauron_ 43 Share Posted March 17, 2013 Vanir turns to Bircalin, words forming on his lips. "I have spoken... well, written... to Azel on a new government and he has responded in such a matter that puts to rest your fears. I trust him when he says he would be the high prince if the Mali wished it, and that he would step down from his position if such was wished as well. So fear not about another tyrannical dictator, nor a council that is not subservient to the will of the people."
Dromui 755 Share Posted March 17, 2013 "As Vanir has stated, we have already been working on a government that will equally and properly represent all Mali of Malinor. IF another is chosen for High Prince or Princess then so be it. It is not my job to force myself upon the nation of Malinor, but to do what its citizens and past council has failed to do. Defend it." Bircalin 332 Share Posted March 17, 2013 Nodding in approval of Vanir's words, Bircalin's tone bears with it a solemn smile of appreciation. "It pains me to reiterate that I simply am uncomfortable with the possibility of Mali'ker facing unequal treatment to other Mali. I say this of course in the -most- respectful way to Azel, I respect him nonetheless. However, should his name be cast upon others in an election for High Prince or Princess, I would be more than able to comply should his vote take the majority." Dromui 755 Share Posted March 17, 2013 Azel smiles "If a Mali'ker was voted in, it would be interesting. No Mali'ker have taken the position of High Prince or Princess from what I know."

Lord_Sauron_ 43 Share Posted March 17, 2013 Vanir shakes his head slightly."What should be noticed is that any of the races could be the High Prince or Princess with this. We are already acting more equal to each other's races... Soon we shall be called Mali as opposed to Mali'ame, Mali'aheral, or Mali'ker."Vanir grins."It is a happy thing." Linkothers 1 Share Posted March 17, 2013 "Aye, you think only Dark Elves inhabit Darkhaven? I myself live in Darkhaven, and I am a Wood Elf! Darkhaven may have quite a bit of dark elves, but it also has plently of light skinned Elves. Darkhaven has not only become a place for Dark Elves, but a place for all Elves. As for Azel being High Prince, why shouldnt he be? He is the one that is bringing in this new era! Now and forever, Azel, you have my Allegiance."
