A Lord's Fall

The flames roared high, screams petulant throughout the field of battle. All around were corpses, arrows flying past, the stench of blood. Augustus Blackmont and his men were arrayed in a line, a score of them, looking on as the battle roared. His men kept their formation, and stayed in reserve, as the soldiers of the Order of the White Rose fought with ferocity against their Elfish foes. The scene was horrible to behold, blood and gore splattering the once pristine farms of the Kingdom of Malinor. All at once, a great roar was heard, the Elves had retreated back behind their walls - the reserves were being called up.

Augustus looked behind him, his men grim and lusty for slaughter. Yet he ordered a slow advance, planning to keep to a certain arrangement he had made earlier. With a sword raised, he led his soldiers towards the Elf walls, until all at once with a shout of "Blackmont!" the standard bearer Han charged. Augustus was powerless to stop the rest of his men from following suit, and all but his two bodyguards rushed into the slaughter. Bloody Fools. With a terrifying and booming voice, he began to relay orders.

"Form up! Form up! Return to the li-" the shout was interrupted by an arrow. Then another. Then another. The Lord of Blackmont fell onto the ground, shaking, face first.

He awoke to the sight of battle moments later, propped up against a ruined wall - his men trying desperately to shield him from oncoming arrows. He could feel nothing at all. He looked down to see two arrows protruding from his chest, another in his elbow. The blood drew freely and plentifully, soaking his garments. He sensed an overwhelming feel of dread at the thought of dying. My son, I must live for my son. With that thought, he faded back into unconsciousness, with death all around him.

A day later, the Lord of Blackmont wastes away in his home of the Dreadfort, recovering for a few hours then burning up moments later. For such a simple battle, such an easy victory - the cost had been astoundingly high. What little vitality he had left to him is surely gone, his very survival uncertain. Only time can tell what will become of Augustus Blackmont, and the consequences should he pass.

Han walks back to the edge of the battlefield with an arrow sticking from his kneecap as he spots his lord laying on the ground

"May the Gods guide you, m'lord."

Han says under his breath continuing on down to approach the men shielding August, as he follows suit.

Meanwhile, in the great oceans of Anthos..

Kyral quietly closes her book, finishing it as she smiles,
"A lovely conversation, I thank you for your time." she grins, obviously talking to the book. She leans back as she watches the sky, and suddenly, a twitch, a feeling in her heart she could not shake.

"Ah.. I see another star shall be formed tonight, rest well, whoever you might be.." she looks towards her Violin, smiling.

Kyral quickly takes her violin as she begins to play, a soft, slow melody following her words as she sings.

"Leaves are on the ground
Fall has come
Blue skies turning grey
Like my love

I tried to carry you
And make you whole
But it was never enough
I must go"

Kyral looks up to the skies, playing a bit slower, each note able to be recognised by the wind as she keeps the rhythm with her voice.

"Who is gonna save you
When I'm gone?
And who'll watch over you
When I'm gone?

You say you care for me
But hide it well
How can you love someone
And not yourself?"

Kyral grins, as she holds a longer note, strumming the bow as she sits up, looking at the ocean as she sees her reflection

"And when I'm gone
Who will break your fall?
Who will you blame?

I can't go on
And let you lose it all
It's more than I can take
Who'll ease your pain?
Ease your pain"

Kyral slows down her Violin bow, and her words trail off as she nods, smiling.

"Who is gonna save you when I'm gone?
Who'll watch over you?
Who will give you strength when you're not strong.
Who'll watch over you when I've gone away?

Snow is on the ground
Winters come
You long to hear my voice
But I'm long gone"

Kyral, ending the song, lays her head back, holding the violin close as she whispers.

"Sleep well, Prince."
