In-Character Information:
Complete the following biography on your character:

Full Name: Edward Skyte
Current Age:  22
Sub-race (if any):  Northerner
Past /
History (include childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long):

Born in the great city of Kingston, Edward Skyte son of Richard, hails from a long line of warriors.  For thirteen generations, the Skyte family has been protecting cities, fighting battles, and banishing evil from the world.  Told from infancy of the great deeds of his family, Edward was brought up with honor in his heart.  One day, his father sat him down on a wooden stool and told him of the most noble deed of his family; the tale of the Honorable Eleven's Defense of the Cathedral.

"Edward, it is about time you knew about the greatest deed of your family," said his father. "Your great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather (that's eight generations before him), Sven Skyte the Honorable, was a guard of Al'Khazar, known mostly for his epic defense of the Cathedral where he and ten other guards stood their ground against hundreds of undead.  Lasting three days and nights, the Honorable Eleven (as they have become known) defended the Cathedral against a siege laid upon it.  Protecting dozens of innocent citizens, priests, and minor nobility from harm, Sven and the other ten guards beat back assault after assualt until finally the waves of undead ceased for a brief period.  Sven told the others to escape while he and his men continued holding the Cathedral to prevent its riches from falling into the hands of the Undead.  After the brief reprieve of Undead, a huge horde attacked the Cathedral.  Led by the Black Skeleton riding atop his spider, the Cathedral fell and Sven and the guards were slain."

This story was as inspirational to young Edward as it was to every boy of the Skyte line before him.  By the age of eight, Edward took up swordplay and had lessons with his father.  He was not only influenced by the honorable story of the Skyte line, but also from his rich aunt, Helga.  Helga had taught Edward from a young age of the power of money and from her, he learned the basic skills of trading, how to run shops, and how economies functioned.  By the age of 10, Edward's skill with the blade had improved greatly, as had his skills of dealing with money.  His father however, did not approve of his dabbling with mercantilism and soon prevented him from visiting his aunt ever again.  Although he never saw his aunt again, Edward kept his passion for money alive and learned much about it; secretly of course.  All the while, Edward's sword skills were improving and he was soon sparring with guards of the city in an effort to further his mastery of the blade.  By the age of 14, he had successfully defeated (at one time or another) all of the lower-ranking guards of the city in sparring matches.  Although the successes of Edward showed the Skyte line was still strong, not all was going well in the household of Skyte.  Edward's mother, Breanna, was not as honorable as the male line of Skyte.

One late evening, after Edward had turned 17, he was walking back home from a sparring match and heard two voices floating through the window of his home.  One was clearly his mother's voice, but the other was an unrecognizable male voice.  Deciding to investigate, Edward crept close enough to the house to hear the conversation.

"It needs to be done tonight." said his mother in a serious tone.

"I ain't sure dat can be done ma'am" replied the male voice that clearly belonged to a dwarf.

"What do you mean that can't be done?  I am paying you 400 minas for the job!"

"Dat house is very well guarded.  Dose Valkrae are very careful with dere house"

"You'll get that job done, or I'll scream and run to the nearest guard post claiming you tried to rape me.  Now get out of here and kill that stupid noble."

Flabbergasted, Edward had no idea what to do.  The dwarf walked out of the house, took a quick look around, and then briskly walked down the road.  Deciding to see where he was headed, Edward trailed the dwarf to an inn; The Brisk Horse Inn.  Edward opened the inn door and just in time saw the dwarf head up the stairs to the rooms.  Edward walked across the parlor floor, opened the door, and slipped inside.  As soon as he walked up the stairs, a sharp blow to his head sent Edward crashing against the wall.

"Trying to follow me, eh?  Whatsyer name boy?" the dwarf asked with an evil grin.

"Uhh... uhh... Edward..."

"Edward, eh?  Well guess what Edward?  Can't have ya interfeerin' with my job so it looks like its the end of the road for ya."

The dwarf raised a small axe above his head and just before he brought it down, Edward pulled out a short dagger and stabbed the dwarf straight in heart.  With a groan of pain, he slumped to the floor and whispered, "Ye ain't too different from me boy.  You've killed now.  Remember dat."  The dwarf's eyes glazed over and so ends the story of Edward's first kill.

He never told a soul about this incident and eventually decided to apply for the guard of the city of Kingston.  His past, however, still haunts him as the day to his trials for acceptance into the city guard draw ever closer.

Ambitions for the Future: Edward wishes to become a city guard and honor his father's lineage, but he feels that a career as a merchant would also suit his needs.  His ultimate goal is to become a wealthy citizen of Kingston, but is unsure that he can do that while still retaining the position of a guard.
Personality: Edward is a very intelligent young man.  He believes it is important to be an honorable person, but would still do things to further his wealth and power.  Although some people may call him pompous, Edward is quite the compassionate and patient man.  He would be willing to defend anyone he calls a friend with his life.
Skills: Because of all the training from his father, Edward is very proficient with a blade.  All of the hard bladework has also caused his body to become very strong.  His aunt's teachings have also given Edward the ability to haggle with vendors, and even taught him how to properly manage a business.

Open-Response-Questions
Each question in this section must be answered with a minimum of one paragraph which must describe the event in full. Please be as descriptive as possible and do not break character or lore at any point.
____

1. Whilst in the mighty human capital you notice a dark-clothed figure stealthily making his way towards the Emperors palace - he is clearly up to no good. There are guards within shouting distance - what do you do?

Answer:
"Guards!  Guards!" I shout as I rush towards the dark-clothed figure.  The figure turns around to reveal a face with a scar running from eye to chin.  Seeing pure hatred in his eyes, he sprints towards me and draws a long dagger from beneath his cloak.  I draw my own sword and parry his slashing blow.  The man jumps backwards, eyeing my blade as we slowly circle one another.  The pounding footsteps of the guards causes the assassin to glance in their direction, and pull out a small knife and throws it straight for my chest.  I react quickly and turn to the side only getting a small cut across my bicep.  Unsure of what to do now, the assassin looks around wildly for an escape route.  Seeing none, he looks at me, yells something in a foreign tongue and plunges the dagger straight into his heart.  The guards run up to his body a moment too late.

Sighing, one guard looks at me and asks "Are you alright Edward?"

"Yes.  Just a minor cut.  That's all" I respond looking at my arm.

2. Whilst wandering in the deep oak forest you come across a large clearing, in which sits a small cobbled cottage. Outside it stands an unstable old man armed with a small iron blade, surrounded by two heavily armed bandits - they appear to be threatening him. You are armed with leather armour and an iron longsword, how do you react?

Answer:
"Get away from him!" I scream at the top of my lungs as I pull out my sword and charge the bandits.  Jumping in surprise, the bandit on the right turns towards me to see an iron longsword whistling towards his head.  Clumsily raising his sword, the bandit barely manages to deflect the blow.  It knocks him off balance however and I rapidly slash him across the stomach.  His chainmail saves his life but he is once again pushed off balance.  Attacking again, I smash the butt of my sword into his helm causing him to sag to the ground unconscious.

"Mighty good with that blade, boy." the remaining bandit says eyeing me warily.

"Taught by the best," I respond in turn.

The bandit makes a wild lunge to my leg and I leap back lightly on the balls of my feet.

"Is that all you've got?" I sneer.

Seeing a fire in his eyes now, the infuriated bandit jumps forward, slashing left and right at me.  To his growing dismay, I easily parry each of his blows.  Deciding to finish the fight, I parry one of his strikes and disarm the bandit, sending his blade skittering across the ground.

"Don't kill me please," the bandit says raising his hands in the air.

"I am an honorable man, I will not kill you, but instead turn you into the city guard to have them deal with-AHHH" a searing pain shoots across my right calf as a blade slices through the leather.  I stagger and turn to see the bandit who was previously unconcious, awake and holding his sword with my blood dripping off it.

"Foolish mistake," I mutter to myself as I quickly slice my sword across the bandits sword arm, causing it to fall to the ground.  With a scream of agony, he kneels down, clutching the bloody stump of an arm, and yells "You win! You win!  Don't kill me!"

"You caused me a nasty wound, but I will not kill a man with no sword."  I say and turn to the old man.  "Can you get me some rope to tie these two up and a bandage to put on my leg?"

3. You are standing within the mighty human capital when you notice a small man standing behind a colourful stall. You approach the stall and notice that the man is selling a variety of general goods - he says that he is selling just about anything and that he has no set prices. He is willing to allow you to haggle and choose prices. What do you do? (Explain: your haggling, items of choice and the discussion that happens).

Answer:

"I have been searching long and hard for a suitable weapon," I say to the vendor, "What weapons do you carry?"

A smile spreads across the man's face as he says "One moment." and turns around and digs through a chest.  Pulling out three blades, the man lies them on the table before me and says "These are very fine swords here.  Tell me what you think."

I pick up the first sword.  A fine iron scimitar that is about a half-a-meter long.  "That blade once belonged to a noble who roamed the deserts in search of orcs.  He slew many orcs, even a few chieftans in his time."  said the vendor.

Setting the blade back down, I pick up the next blade.  This one is a vicious-looking steel longsword that is nearly a meter in length.  "Ahh.  They call that one Arsh'ra.  Heart Seeker in the common tongue.  It is said that the blade was enchanted by a warlock causing it to always find the heart of the enemy.  It was used by the a noble by the name of Roran in a battle long ago.  He killed the Cave Spider King with that blade.  Sadly, he succumbed to spider venom days after the feat."  I gingerly set the blade back onto the table and set my eyes on the third blade.

"This blade has not yet been named, nor has it seen any battle.  However, it was constructed by dwarves in the most exquisite forges of the land.  Rumored to be forged with a dragon's fire, this blade will cut through any armor and never dull."  Picking the blade up, I made a few practice swings to find the blade perfectly balanced.

"I'll take it." I say.  "300 minas"

"300 minas?" the vendor asked with disgust, "This blade is worth three times that!"

"I don't think so." I respond, "300 minas is my offer"

"Fine, 600 minas" the vendor says.

"350." I respond with a steely gaze.

"450.  Take it or leave it." the vendor replies with a hard look of his own.

"400 and you have yourself a deal." I say holding out four gold minas pieces.

"I said 450.  That's the deal" said the vendor coldly.

"Look, no one has enough money to buy a sword like this.  Most folks don't even earn this much in a month.  This is your last chance to sell at 400 minas."

Thinking for a moment, the vendor grabs the coins and gruffly says, "Fine.  400 minas then.  Now get out of here."

Welcome to Anthos! Please wait to be implemented, as this can take some time.

If you have any further issues, we have a mentors system that can be accessed in-game using /mentor, /mentor list will show the currently online members. I am one myself, so feel free to ask me for help, be it adding on skype or anything of the sort.

As an end note, your application was very, very good, however, I would like you to make sure you know about powergaming. Don't overpower your character, lose sometimes, it adds to roleplay. Good luck!
