Muteness is a disability that has afflicted Evangela for the majority of her life, following a failed robbery upon her and her parents when she was a youngster. At the tender age of six, she, her four sisters, and her parents had been travelling to Salvus to sell the food they had collected over the autumn. A vicious dwarf assailant had jumped out at them, grabbed Evangela and told her to keep quiet and not say a word or he would cut her head off. Although the family had escaped unharmed, thanks to the watchful patrols of the human lands, it had left a terrible emotional scar upon her. All words known to her at that point faded and died as swiftly as the winter that grasped the land that year. Her parents grieved and mourned for their child's loss, but vowed to help her in any way they could. As she grew she overcame the shyness and fear of other people, but she still spoke very little. Yes and no answers are all she is capable of saying to strangers, and not much more than that to friends.

 

Her parents, being farmers, naturally taught her everything they knew. She was shown how to sow, harvest, and cook potatoes, carrots, wheat, and hops, and excelled at it. Having few friends she tended to keep to herself, and often wore a small strip of white linen across her mouth to show her dislike of speaking to strangers. She also took part in dancing groups, and found it to be a satisfying distraction from everyday life. Eventually, as her sisters left home to be married or find jobs, she began to feel a wanderlust. She wanted to see new things, meet new people, and earn a living, and this desire was not fading with age. She planned her journey with great precision in the months leading up to her 36th birthday, and her mother helped her to prepare for it. When the big day arrived, she promised her parents she would someday return, maybe with a dashing husband or a pile of gold. After kissing her parents goodbye, she headed off for the city and her fortune.

Ambitions for the Future: She will take any job she can to bring in some money, but aspires to be a chef or dancer for a noble.
Personality: She can seem shy and quiet due to her lack of talking, but she is strong and independant and a hard worker.
