IC Information

RP Name (This includes your character’s prefix):

S'Valawn

Character Sub-race:

Tigrasi

Character appearance (Including age and gender):

Valawn is a 30 year old male with dull brown fur and dark stripes that cover his entire body. He is rather lanky for a Tigrasi, not being as bulky or as large as Tigrasi are usually. Among the rest of his subrace he would look the least impressive. The end of his tail is completely bare after an accident involving fire when he was a kitten, the fur never grew back. This bald area is rather noticeable and big enough to be held in a paw and still have uncovered, bare skin. The fur leading up to the bald spot is frayed, making it even more noticeable.

What is the personality of your character like?:

Valawn is a competitive Tigrasi who shows an eagerness to learn and understand new things but seems to lack the drive to dedicate himself to something that appear to take a long time. He gets frustrated rather easily, especially when he is denied something he believes he deserves. He is driven by self-preservation and believes that life should be filled with pleasures rather than worry or stress. This belief leads him to slack off and often laze about instead of following orders or doing needed chores. He is not above complimenting others to gain their favor. He is a playful individual, often teasing and bothering other kha even when the situation is dire.

Biography (If you are applying as a kitten, please only state the name of your parents/siblings)
As a kitten Valawn was allowed to do whatever he pleased, go whereever he wished and do whatever he wanted with little parental supervision. He was a spoiled kitten though as soon as he became old enough to fend for himself, his parents left him to his own devices. Though they are still alive and well on the island, he rarely speaks about them. It even appears as though his parents and Valawn have parted ways completely, no longer seeing each other as family but something distant like neighbors.

As a cub Valawn was an active troublemaker. He would try and lead the other cubs into playing with him instead of training with the older Kharajyr. Punishments did little to change his behavior, only making him more careful and more likely to leave his playmates behind when it seemed as though the adults had realized they were gone. After a painful fight with his angry friends, his tendency to leave them behind lessened to the point of being nonexistant.

As an adult, Valawn is a bit more mature though he strives more for the rewards in life without struggling through the processes to achieve them.

Character’s ambitions within the Kharajyr:

Valawn hopes to achieve a rank in society that he enjoys and requires little effort on his part. Not exactly a job that requires little effort but a job that, to him, would be effortless and simple. If that fails, he simply wishes to be happy and have a set time for regular relaxing times. He also longs to have a partner who will understand his lifestyle, be a kha with a large amount of energy and a willingness to play.

Character’s strengths/weaknesses:

Due to his lack of initiative, he rarely does things unless he is commanded to do something. He has the potential to be successful in a number of fields but often fails due to his own laziness. He plays when it isn't appropriate and has trouble reading the atmosphere. When he is determined, he can force himself to accomplish a task, granted it might not be the best outcome but he'll get it done. He can be an optimistic person that can brighten up a depressing situation however his optimism can quickly become annoying. His energy levels are used mostly for play, making him the perfect playmate for kittens and cubs. He adores kittens and baby animals.

1. You are heading home from a successful hunting trip when a group of three heavily armoured humans jump out from behind a tree and start demanding the surrender of your catch over to them. Each man has a sword drawn and they are gradually pacing towards you...

How does your character react?

Valawn looks up from his kill, mouth watering. His ears lower slightly as he eyes the group of men slowly approaching him and his tail begins to whip with unease. He lifts his kill up slightly, testing its weight and frowns as it, in his estimation, would be too heavy to escape with. He stands, flexing his fingers and letting out a low, gravely sigh. He closed his eyes, his ears twitching at the crunch of the humans' footsteps.

He opens his eyes, lips curling into a snarl and baring his fangs as he rolls his shoulders. He lets out a breath, an almost laugh, as one of the three men hesitate and stumble a bit. The other two continue toward him, their weapons held steady. Valawn inhales slowly and then lets out a fierce roar and drops on all fours to charge the three, pure fury marring his features. This kill was his. He had earned it.

2. You arrive at the temple of Metztli only to see one of your closest friends stealing the sacred blue gems from the altar, a most unholy act for a Kharajyr.

How does your character react?

Valawn pauses, tilting his head slowly as he watches his friend struggle with a jewel in the altar. There were other jewels, each a different size, at his feet. Eyes narrowing, Valawn begins to pick up the jewels and place them back in their appropriate holes. He jolts a bit when his friend flinches and whimpers, his paws flying off of the slanted jewel. His eyes are wide and he looks so frightened, Valawn can't help but feel amused. He shakes his head, sighing as he places the jewels back.

Occasionally he would glance back at his cowering friend, let out raspy sigh and then return to fixing the altar. He do so slowly, enjoying his own friend's increasing guilt. As he reached the jewel his friend was having trouble with before, he paused, making sure to take a long time as he pressed it into its place. As it clicked slightly, back where it belong. He left his paw there and closed his eyes.

"Valawn has'eh nevawr been su desuhpoynt'd..."

And then he walked away, his tail forced low and stiff as he had to hide his joy. He had got a good look of his friend's despaired look as he left, he would probably turn himself in later. It almost made his actions meaningful. He allowed himself a snicker as he was out of hearing distance.

3. You are in the Cloud Temple when a stout, angry little dwarf begins yelling highly racist terms towards you at the top of his lungs. Although unarmed, the dwarf continues to yell after he makes eye contact with you.

How does your character react?

Valawn narrows his eyes a little, blankly analyzing the dwarf as he continues to shout at the top of his lungs. It is noisy, annoying and he seems to be embarassing the others around him. Valawn can't help but feel fascinated by how pointlessly upset the dwarf is, how red his face is getting, how hard he has to gasp in order to get enough air to yell the next slurrs up at his face. He hums, face still analytical as he crouches down, making a show of how tall he is compared to the dwarf.

Offended, the dwarf begins to shout louder, if possible, and his face turns a new shade of red. Valawn holds back a smile, lips twitch instead. It was surprisingly easy to focus more on how ridiculous the dwarf looked instead of what he was saying. In fact, he could barely understand him anyway. As the dwarf continues to ramble on, his face stubbornly staying the same color and the entertainment value of staying inside the temple falling dramatically, Valawn begins to feel increasingly annoyed.

He stands up, brushing past the dwarf so hard he bumps painfully into the corner of a wall nearby and moves to leave. He hears the dwarf grunt and hiss, mumbling under his breath. As Valawn steps into the sunlight and out of the temple, his memory of the event almost instantly leaves him as he begins to plan where he is going before he returns to his home island.

4. Fire has broken out over the jungle city and you can hear the screaming of two Kha’ nearby. As you go investigate, you notice that one of your friends and the Tlatlanni’s white-furred child have gotten themselves trapped in opposite ends of a burning building. The roof creaks above you, if you were to get involved, you would only have time to save one before the building collapsed.

How does your character react?

Valawn felt horrible for this, truly horrible. He couldn't even bring himself to make any excuse to make himself feel better or justify his own actions. He turned away from the still burning reckage, paws limp at his sides. He inhaled shortly and then let out an unstable, shaking sigh. On the brink of breaking down and crying, he turned toward his unconscious friend. Burnt and exhausted, but safe and more importantly, alive.

He had saved his friend. Someone he was familiar with instead of someone he didn't know. Someone who probably didn't realize how much danger they were in. Someone who was too young to enjoy as much as he or his friend had and would now, never get the chance. He let a kitten burn. He couldn't shake his guilt. He let a kitten die.

And not just any kitten. Valawn shook his head, drawing his knees close and letting his forehead fall atop them. He let the Tla's kitten die. The Tla. He would be so disappointed in him. He had failed not only him but the entire empire. He'd failed everyone to benefit himself, to save one of his friends.

Beside him, his friend groaned and shifted, still safe in sleep. Valawn lifted his head and looked toward his friend, then looked ahead at the dying fire and sighed.
