In your own words define the following terms. Do not take any definitions from elsewhere!:

Role-playing: Playing as a character in a fictional setting, acting as the character would act in the situations he or she faces.
Meta-gaming: Using information gained in OOC and using it IC. For example, I might be told the location of a Rasmot item OOC'ly by a friend, but acting upon that information to find it would be meta-gaming.
Power-emoting: Making an emote to which the person acted upon is not given the opportunity to respond. For example, "Jack stabs James in the throat repeatedly."

Complete the following biography on your character:

Full Name: Valandil Oros
Current Age: 300
Race: Elf
Sub-race (if any): NA

Past / History (include childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long):
Valandil Oros' childhood was not one of any sort of extravagence. He grew up to an average elven family, with a fairly simple upbringing. His family was neither rich nor poor, and was not particularly notable in any sort of political or social standing. However, the young elf seemed to love his place in Laurelin despite this lack of significance; he was a fun, excitable boy who found revelry and merriment wherever he found elves. Whether they be wood elves, high elves, dark elves or elves without a sub-race like himself, so long as their ears were pointed and they were kind enough to him, he seemed totally at ease and, more importantly, very happy being around them.

Early in his youth, Valandil and his family came to realize he had a natural skill in creating things with his hands. It started out as him making little toys for himself, mostly by carving different shapes out of wood. However, as he grew older, he decided to try to take his skill to something more practical. So, rather than trying to make small toys, he instead began trying to construct his own boys and arrows. After relatively little practice on his own, he became fairly adept at creating his own bows and arrows. Albeit, the tools he created were crude, but they were functional at the very least. With guidance from a few mentors, he expanded and enhanced this skill, to the point where they were not only consistent, but also of high quality in both aesthetics and practicality. This interest led to him dabbling in other skills of the hand, and eventually led to him become an excellent blacksmith as well. His affinity for creating did not stop here, but using his skill to create weapons and tools of wood and metal, he turned his hobby into the way he would earn his minas.

While Valandil did not really enjoy the idea of fighting, as time went on, he slowly grew more skilled with the weapons he would create. After decades of practice, he became moderately skilled in swordsmanship and archery, becoming somewhat keen on practicing with his bow. For a long time, his use of weapons remained sporadic at best, practicing when he had spare time and others to practice with. However, with the coming of the Undead, he quickly realized the threat they had on all of Aegis, and joined the Vanguard of Laurelin. He honed his skills, practicing with swords and bows extensively, becoming a skilled soldier, as well as a smith for the Vanguard. However, his skill with weapons was not all that changed. As a soldier, his life became more regimented, and he became more stoic. His jolly, pleasant nature weakened with each elf who passed in the war against the Undead, and slowly he grew somewhat cold. Of course, he would often still enjoy the revelry of an elven life, but the fear and sadness that the war caused his people as a whole had a lasting impact on him. As the races left the land of Aegis, Iblees defeated, Valandil's moments of great celebration were discarded when he came to realize that his parents had been lost, either left behind or killed by the Undead prior to departure. Valandil left Aegis becoming an elf who often felt cold, and always very alone.

With his arrival in Asulon, Valandil tried to move past the tragedies of Aegis. He remained in the military, having found a certain level of comfort in the consistent, regimented demeanor he kept while performing his duties. Despite his duties in the military, he put more focus in his original passion, creating weapons and working with his hands, making his practice with weapons only secondary. Additionally, Valandil tried to find solace in the practices of his people. In his free time, he tried to further immerse himself in the culture of his people. While he only rarely portrayed the jovial nature which had characterized him before, he hoped that the elves around him would have an outward presence similar to what his used to be like, and as a result would make him feel better about what he'd experienced.

While he found comfort in his people at first, he slowly watched as, in his eyes, his race deteriorated as a whole. They grew more prone to violence, division and fickle actions, and the qualities of the leaders in Asulon grew rapidly lower in quality. The patient, composed nature of elves gave way to one of aggression and dissension, leading to a prominence in varying cultures focused around the sub-races of each elf, rather than the unified elven body he adored and sought comfort from. He was astounded by the rapid division of the elven race. This led him to become even more upset and disheartened, his excited and generally happy nature totally disappearing, finding himself immersing himself fully in his duties in the military. This was not enough to make him happy, and throughout the course of his time on Asulon, he strongly considered leaving Malinor. He only stayed due to his hope that this was merely a temporary change.

The fall of Asulon did not particularly upset Valandil. He had no pleasant memories from Asulon, and he hoped desparately that the fall of this land which divided his race would lead to a restoration in unity. However, it rapidly became evident on Kalos and Elysium that this would not occur. It was a combination of his race's constant provocation of the White Rose, the physical barriers between wood elves, dark elves and high elves and the constant identification by sub-race rather than race which drove Valandil to leave Malinor, opting instead to become a traveling smith. He spent the remainder of his time awaiting the promised land, hoping for change among his kin.

Unfortunately, his arrival in Anthos was met only with more disappointment. The High Council proved to be inept at protecting its people, with daily violence in Malinor, and the constant provocation of the White Rose continuing. So, he did not settle in Malinor, instead continuing to travel around, doing whatever work he could get. Usually, he worked as a smith, but he did any work that his natural skill with his hands allowed.

One day, he happened to be leaving Malinor, having gone there merely out of curiosity in regards to its status. As he departed, he made a comment about his disappointment in the actions of a few elves and their evident disregard for the lives of their kin. He'd overheard them speaking of their desire to kill Kalenz for the hardship he'd caused Malinor, and he merely stated that one should not be so willing to take the life of a fellow elf. The small group followed him out of Malinor, attacking him near Hyrr. He defended himself as best he could, trying merely to disarm them. However, he was quickly overpowered; the elves disarmed him and, rather than killing him, kicked and beat at him, causing significant harm to his head and spine. While neither his skull nor spine broke, his mind was shattered; his memory was mostly lost, with some minor brain damage causing him not to function quite the way he had.

As he was left for dead, lying on the road, unable to move, a man found him. The man took him in, and over many months, managed to nurse him back to health, at least to an extent. Valandil's memory was full of holes, unable to remember much of what happened to him in Aegis, but also forgetting much of the disappointment that Asulon had left him with. Likewise, he forgot the skills he'd learnt over his life, becoming unaware of his abilities as a smith, swordsman or archer. Over time, he began to remember his previous skill in smithing, that at a time he could produce wonderous pieces of armour and weaponry, excellent in both quality and aesthetics. However, as a whole, he was a broken elf. With little memory of his past, and more importantly, of himself, Valandil left the kind man's care after a year of rehabilitation without any set path for him.

Ambitions for the Future: He wishes to remember his past, although this is not a driving force in his actions. He remembers that he had some negative feelings for the actions of his race, although he is unsure what. He wishes to return to his race and come to understand what exactly caused this strange feeling.
Personality: Following his injury, Valandil retained the regimented, stoic personality and mannerisms he gained from his time in the military. He usually feels somewhat uncomfortable when in cities made of stone, or other unnatural settings. He is usually put at ease, and somewhat more prone to be more open and excitable when he is around other elves who follow what he would consider the correct way for elves to act, and when he is a more natural setting.
Skills: While at a time, Valandil was particularly skilled in smithing, swordsmanship and archery, he is no longer strongly skilled in any of them. He retains much of the muscle memory, but he only really is knowledgeable of his skill in smithing at this point. He is somewhat clever, but he is not a good speaker. He tends to use very simple language, often unable to get his point across.
