I Have A Question About Some Of The Lore.

Shadowmeire

So I had a application for a High Elf named Shadowmeire that was rejected for not being a full blooded High Elf, and was told that application for Wood Elf, High Elf hybrids was now being rejected, my biggest question is how can that be rejected, when it even says in the lore that those mixtures between High elf, Dark Elf, and Wood Elfs have been done, just highly frowned upon. I understand that you want to keep with the nobility type of high elf, but my character is not your typical stuck up high elf because of his upbringing, a point i tried to make clear in my application. Now im not trying to fight the system, i just wanted to know why it can't be done, when it says clearly in your lore that it has happen.

Right, so on the sever you have two types of high elves. The pure ones and impure ones, and there are a lot more Impure high elves then pure ones. I see no reason why the AT got snippy with you having a mix blooded high elf. I think the AT member that wen't over your App may have a bit of bias when it comes to Impure high elves.

I don't recommend you change your character's racial mix of a High elf and a wood elf. It's your character, do as you wish with it's race so long as it doesn't break any lore. And this indeed doesn't break any lore.

Agreed. Were that the sole reason your character was denied, it would be completely unfounded. However, Princeton listed a rather large number of reasons as to why you were denied in addition to this slip-up, so those will have to be addressed before you reapply.

Here's Princeton's denial from your application:

- Unfortunately, I am going to have to deny this -

Firstly, I would like you to expand upon your definitions with examples.

Secondly,
your biography has a couple mix-ups. Although you clearly understand
parts of lore, there is a large gap on the other. Firstly, High Elves
are a proud and extremely racist group of individuals. They pride
themselves on purity and wold never mate with a wood elf under normal
circumstances. We no longer accept lore-incorrect high elves, due to the
fact it doesn't make any lore sense.

Also,
I believe your character to be a bit of a power-gamer. He seems
proficient with a wide arrange of weapons, along with farming, and a
strong intellect. I advise adding downfalls as well as upsides to create
a more balanced and realistic character.

Lastly,
there are a couple small issues with your ORQ's. Mainly, for your first
one, this is quite impossible ""WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOUR DOING?"
yelled Marrick, the arrow loosed straight for Shadow's exposed flank,
but before it could reach its target he reached out, grabbed the arrow
and threw it back at one of the other elves with a single movement. It
hit its target in the ribs with a thunk, and he balled over on the
ground." -- Grabbing an arrow out of mid air? That is power-gaming along
with throwing an arrow hard enough to make it pierce skin in a fluid
motion.

I suggest balancing out your characters abilites along with learning more LoTC lore before you reapply.

Please wait 24 hours after his post to reapply. Feel free to PM me with any questions or concerns!

Here are some lore things that may be useful.

  • Golden Apple memory erasure is not official lore. It's one of those trolly things that crop up from time to time, like gender pearls.
  • Proper education doesn't really exist apart from for the nobility. I can't think of a single school in Anthos.
  • Normandor was an elven city in Asulon, another continent long abandoned. It does not exist in Anthos.
  • The area between Leumalin and Kingston (which is currently evacuated and locked down due to a war between humans and dwarves)
  • A Drake is a magically corrupted dragon. They were rare in Asulon and have yet to be seen in Anthos. Killing one with an army at your back is an incredible feat, one would not be able to take one down alone.

On the race matter: If you're planning to live in Oren, I'd suggest you go for human, if you're planning to live in Leumalin, go for a Wood Elf, if you're planning to live in Lineveral, go for High Elf. Yes, High Elves that do not live according to the principles of Lineveral do exist, but, like elves which hack off chunks of their own ears and go and live with humans, they are discouraged.

However, the main reason for the denial of your application was powergaming issues, as stated in your application denial.

I'll be bringing this up in the Application Team chat. According to myself and one other at least, this is not true, so don't worry about it. You may indeed cross a high elf and a wood elf.

yeah i understand the power gaming bit and ive been working on revising this. thanks for all of the info, as it is really going to help me get Shadow into the community. Hes a character i used to use to Rp, and was actually an Elven Werewolf. He'd go beserk on red moons in a world that i created for a story. ive been trying my best to alter him to fit because i know him so well.

I just really wanted to know about the mixed elf bit, as i thought it was strange to continue hearing about 'make a character you will like, yada yada,' and then hearing no you can't do that.

Once again thanks so much for the input as its really going to help me out with Shadows revised bio

Note that if you're a wood elf high elf cross, you're not a high elf. I'm pretty sure you're still a wood elf though as they tend to be the mongrels of the elves.

so we are talking not as tall, possibly darker skin, and not as strong or agile, but possibly still the green eye color, and darker hair, yes?

Really it's your character, and you only need lore for things that give you an advantage over other players. Your high elf/Wood Elf crossbreed could have pink hair if you wanted, it shouldn't really matter. The way he looks is completely up to you so long as it doesn't give you an unfair advantage over others.

Pink hair!? BLASPHEMY! If you have pink hair, the Kameki family will slaughter you. That will make two factions wanting to kill you~

Note that if you are half high elf, you will at some point be hunted down and slain because of your impurity. I suppose the reason it may be part of denial is because there are so many already and it is not normal for a High Elf to break their codes to go marry a Wood Elf.

Either way, you should be fine, I wouldn't deny you for it.

That's a wood elf.
