[Resolved] Sand Traps, Etc.

(Not sure if this is the right part of the forums to be posting this on, apologies if it isn't.)

 

Hello Staff of LOTC and Members,

I have a question about killing people with a sand trap, pistons, etc.

 

The situation I have in mind is that I'm making a secret room that is a little bit similar to a maze. If you go the wrong way in the maze then you would fall down into a hole. And either:

 

Situation A: The enemy who was attempting to infiltrate my base has now died from the fall.

 

Situation B: The fall does not kill them. There is a lever that says, "Pull to escape." Upon pulling it, two pistons push sand out from the top of the hole, and the sand falls on the player, burying and killing them.

 

My question is, since there would be no rp leading up to the characters death, would it be against server rules to kill the player in that manner? They would either fall down and just die, or get buried then die. It would be killing them with MC mechanics. I also, what about having a trap at your gate? Enemies try to get in, then one of the guards emotes, "Reaches down and pulls a lever," and suddenly

 the floor underneath the players fall away and they fall to their death or fall into a trap.

Based on how it used to be (these things haven't existed for a while) if they press a button and kill themselves, then that's fine. If you press a button and kill them, you have to RP. I'd wait for an admin answer on that one though.

As long as there's RP signs narrating it, I see no problem in it. Exploring and snooping around wouldn't be fun it if it wasn't risky.

So I should put signs saying stuff like, "Your footsteps echo in the darkness as you walk forwards." Then when they turn the corner and they fall I could put a sign, "As you look around you find out there is no hope to escape, however you see a lever in the gloom, would this be your chance to escape?" Then they pull the lever and die. Would that be sufficient?

That actually sounds quite fun! I wouldn't mind dieing if it meant I could explore some place and fall prey to something due to my own stupidity, as long as it's got some narration to it.
