Definitions
In your own words define the following terms. Do not take any definitions from elsewhere!:

Role-playing: Roleplaying is essentially creating a character to dissolve into and interact with other, well, characters! The biggest joy of roleplay is the impromptu nature of the play style and the rewards it brings.
Meta-gaming: Meta-gaming is using 'Out of Character' (OOC) knowledge to use 'In Character' (IC) events or situations. An example would be a guard "knowing" somebody was a thief because they had a villian application.
Power-emoting: Power-emoting is giving a character unrealistic power or skill. It ruins the spirit of any encounter and is no fair to other roleplayers.

In-Character Information:
Complete the following biography on your character:

Full Name: Thorten Clay Raynor
Current Age: 22
Sub-race (if any): Northerner
Past /
History (include childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long):

Thorten Raynor was born in the northern area of Anthos. He
lived on an isolated farm with nothing more than his family and the cattle they
used for food.  Thorten’s family
consisted of his mother, father, and older brother, Victan. Being just a bit
south of the lands inhabited by Bohra, it was not uncommon for conflict to
arise for the Raynor family. By Northerner standards, Victan was a trophy
child, and the problems that most local Bohra caused were squashed by Victan’s
mighty combat prowess. Much of late childhood and early adulthood included
Victan being honored by tradition as being a perfect warrior. This left Thorten
to do much of the maintenance on Victan’s battle equipment while the parents
attended the farm.

Whenever not being obligated to polish his brother’s armor
and axe, Thorten took much interest in what little he could learn. Though no
formal education and no real opportunity to have one at his family farm, the
stories his father told the family on The Ancient History astounded Thorten.
The thoughts of other humans like himself one day exploring the seven skies became
an obsession for Thorten. While Thorten still obeyed his duties to the letter,
his mind strayed to the wondrous cities he could one day visit. What was
initially a comforting idea became the desire to act.

Though often overshadowed by his brother, Thorten was never
disrespected or mistreated by his family. Therefore, Thorten was torn at his
decision to leave his family farmstead, but ultimately decided to go. One day,
Thorten gave his family the news that he wished to venture out of the isolated
north and try to find out what human civilization was like. His family – though
shocked at first – honored his decision and sent him off with a blessing, few
words of wisdom, food, leather armor, and an iron longsword. Thorten has now
set out, with his head held high and eager to understand the world around him.

Ambitions for the Future: Thorten desires to explore and meet people, and has an even greater desire to have a formal education.
Personality: Thorten is a true introvert, and accepts humility as a necessary virtue. While shy, he has no problem striking up a conversation if need be. Though his adventure speaks differently, Thorten is usually cautious and open-minded.
Skills: Thorten is mediocre at raising livestock and has minimal exposure to blacksmith skills.
Appearance (this must include an in-game screenshot of your skin): Thorten has green eyes, short brown hair, and shaggy sideburns/eyebrows. He has a pale complexion and is taller than most Northerners. However, due to his non-strenuous work, Thorten is also not very muscular.

Any other details you wish to share about your character:[/bThough not formally educated, Thorten is far from stupid!

Open-Response-Questions
Each question in this section must be answered with a minimum of one paragraph which must describe the event in full. Please be as descriptive as possible and do not break character or lore at any point.
____

1. Whilst in the mighty human capital you notice a dark-clothed figure stealthily making his way towards the Emperors palace - he is clearly up to no good. There are guards within shouting distance - what do you do?

Answer: Thorten appeared confused. He only just got here and there's already people up to no good! The stealthy nature of the person was eerie to Thorten, so he decided to act. Figuring he didn't want to make a fool of himself in case this was just a training drill or unheard-of custom, Thorten briskly walked to the closest guard and quietly asked if the guards had a drill going on. The guard scoffed, "Why, of course not! It's late in the evening. What nonsense are you speaking, boy?!"

Wincing, Thorten tried to explain himself as best as possible, "Well, there's- um, somebody sneaking to the palace right now." The guard, suspecting that Thorten could be trying to potentially distract him grabbed Thorten's arm and yelled for the other guards to scour the area. With luck, they caught a glimpse of the would-be assassin, but he ultimately got away. Happy that the emperor was safe, but distraught that the assassin got away, he let go of Thorten and apologized. Shortly thereafter, security around the area was nearly doubled.

2. Whilst wandering in the deep oak forest you come across a large clearing, in which sits a small cobbled cottage. Outside it stands an unstable old man armed with a small iron blade, surrounded by two heavily armed bandits - they appear to be threatening him. You are armed with leather armour and an iron longsword, how do you react?

Answer: Thorten notices the ordeal and he immediately begins to panic. He thinks as quickly as he can and devises a makeshift plan. He runs up to the scene and acts like he has no idea what is going on, "Is this where I deliver the 400 minas to?" Of course, this quickly draws the attention of the bandits and they grin from ear to ear. Losing interest in the old man, they walk menacingly in Thorten's direction. Thorten backs up slowly as he notices the old man catch on and run back inside to hide or flee with his valuables.

The chase is on! The bandits picked up their speed as they pursued Thorten along the path, but ultimately their gear weighed them down and they couldn't keep up with Thorten. Upon losing the bandits, Thorten sat against a tree and prayed and hoped that the old man would be well-hidden or long-gone by the time the bandits returned.

3. You are standing within the mighty human capital when you notice a small man standing behind a colourful stall. You approach the stall and notice that the man is selling a variety of general goods - he says that he is selling just about anything and that he has no set prices. He is willing to allow you to haggle and choose prices. What do you do? (Explain: your haggling, items of choice and the discussion that happens).

Answer: Thorten walked up to the stall rather nonchalantly, acting as if he really didn't care to have anything in particular. Quickly observing the stall, Thorten noticed a large supply of books. Thorten acted like he was interested in an iron sword when jokingly remarked, "Ha! Books? Who in Anthos reads those for fun anymore?"

The merchant goes along with the joke, "Oh-oh-oh! I know, I know! They don't do me really much any good, 'specially 'cause all that most people wanna read is them magic books. -- Erm, but why? You interested? Five minas a book!"

Thorten laughs, "Please! Like I would pay that much for kindling. I was just trying to help you unload that worthless junk, rather than let it take up your stall space. I was just trying to help you - not me."

The merchant squints, "15 minas for the sword."

Thorten frowns slightly and explains, "I only have 12 minas, so I can't afford such a fine sword. But, I'll do you a favor. I'll buy 8 books for all of my minas. Just be sure to remember my good deed next time I come to do business."

The merchant grins. "Deal!"
