It had been over Eight elven weeks since she had seen him. Eight elven weeks since her daughter was torn from her womb. Eight elven weeks since she fled into the night. Yes that night that still burned in her memory. That night that had started the spiral she now felt.

Eight elven weeks ago, Seraphine was working in the kitchens of the Salvian keep. She was happy as she worked. Her stomach large and ready to pop any day now. She hummed softly as she moved the kettle off the stove. The heat making her smile as she sets the kettle to the side. Holding her stomach for a moment she smiles as she heads out into the main room with the tea ready and prepared. However, the next thing she knew was danger.

In the darkness she could hear Kaelys shouting. Hide. Yes, she had to hide. She slowly slipped back into the kitchen and down into the cellar. Her hands reaching out as her bare feet struggled to find their way to hiding. The room. Yes, she quickly slipped into the room and shut the door. Now all she had to do was hide. Slipping behind a curtain, she hid.

Seraphine?” That voice. Kaelys’s voice. She soon heard the curtain being moved and she was spotted. “Seraphine, come we need to get you to safety.” Seraphine smiled softly and took his hand, happy to follow him. She was helped up and out of the cellar, her hand protective over the infant that slept in her womb. “Seraphine, can I borrow your key.” There, something was wrong. She stiffened and listened again.

Why?” she asked. “What happened to yours Kaelys.” She listened again. “I dropped it.” No, the voice wasn’t completely right. She stepped back and within moments she was out. The sea breeze is what stirred her next. She found herself trapped, scared and alone. It was then she realized the danger. Pain stabbed her next. All she could feel was pain, no longer aware of the world around her.

How long she was in pain, she did not know. Her mind was dimly aware of the crying that filled the air. Seraphine only knew she was to leave. She was told never to see Kaelys again, if she wanted her daughter to survive. Barely alive and moving, she made it to the temple. The monks dragged her inside and tended to her wounds, though she was still weak. Unable to do more for her, she left and wandered.

Her baby was gone, her body was in pain. She soon fell into the arms of her father, Dante. Tears streamed down her face as she broke down. Unable to be near the child stolen from her, unable to be the man she loved, tore her apart mentally. She never knew how, or why, but it was a few weeks later she heard the flapping of wings. A stork had been used to bring her the child, a note attached to the bundle.

We will be watching.” The note was read to her by an elf who was kind enough to help her.

Fear gripped her as she pulled her child close to her. She showed the young girl to father, before she left Malinor. She returned to Salvus to find her lover had left. Scared, alone, and with nowhere to go, she sought refuge with Kaila and her family. The young healer quickly took in Seraphine. Reassuring her that she would be safe, Seraphine found herself safe.

Day after day she talked Kaila into sending birds to Kaelys, in hopes of letting him know she was safe. Day after day, the birds would return with no response for the worried mother. Soon, with everything crashing around her, Seraphine fell into a state of deep depression. It soon made her too ill to even leave bed.

Kaila took it upon herself to take care of her niece and Seraphine. For three years Kaila took care of the two before finally Seraphine seemed to come out of her funk. It was around this time Kaila have begun to learn magic. Seraphine became more interested in her daughter. It was not long before Kaila realized that Seraphine could see, at least partially. Seraphine wanted to earn her place and soon began working in the fields of Kaila’s home.

When Kaila left for Abresi, Seraphine kept the house with Alexander. She tended the farms, taught her daughter, and helped keep him company when he was around. She played babysitter to Glyn and Emily while their parents were off helping others less fortunate. Alexia. That was the name Kaila had given the infant. Seraphine had called her Lexi. Little Lexi.

Lexi was definitely Kaelys’s daughter. She seemed to have his curiosity when he was younger. Seraphine would try her best to teach her daughter what she could. She could not teach her to read and write, but Kaila would do her best to teach Alexia how to read and write. Lexi would listen and Seraphine would watch in pride, unable to see the features clearly.

It was not long before Salvus was attacked. Seraphine, terrified thinking it was the men who harmed her before, took Lexi and fled. She could hear the cries of Kaila’s children as they called for their parents but she ignored them. She passed Kaila on the road but again said nothing as she ran.

The land began to blur around her as she ran. Soon they found themselves in Lefarthing. Out of breath and scared, Seraphine clung to her daughter, terrified she would leave. Terrified they would come and take Alexia again from her. No, Seraphine would not let it happen. Since then Seraphine went back into training.

Remembering what her father had told her, she went back to training. Now able to see shapes and colors, she could focus better, though details were lost on her. She would train while Alexia would study. Seraphine made sure Lexi was never without something to do or read when she asked it. With no one but herself to count on anymore, Sera became fiercer, becoming a true Drake in name.

She would wait. With her lover supposedly dead, her father gone to her ancestors, and her only tie to life needing her. Sera would become stronger. She would become something that could protect, not one who needed protecting. At least, thats what she hoped.

Alexia could not get the image out of her head. The Soldiers preparing for war, the sound and smell of war. She had read it in her books, but not seen it and now she walked side by side with her mother to escape the Orcish invaders. She kept a strong grip of her mother's arm to both so she can make sure she doesn't walk off the path and because she needed someone to help her feel safe.

She sighed as she continued onward  with her mother, trying to hide how much she was shaking.
