Lathros 377 Share Posted September 11, 2013 He walks up the snow covered stairs, frost lining his beard. His breath making a thin fog as he exhales. He pats the dwarven statues as he makes his way closer to the gates. He warms up as the fire of Kal'Azgoth burns forever. His long, continuos footsteps echo throughout the halls. He looks up at the gate, "Nae eh guard" he says. The iron bars rusting, covered with ice and dust. He stops at the balcony, looking over the empty halls. He sighs as he turns and walks down the stairs. The stairs cracked and broken, crumbling with each passing step. He drags his hand along side the rail, it gathers dust as he goes down. He eventually reaches the end, he lifts his hand up in front of his face, he then blows the dust off. He then turns around and sees the sign "Kal'Azgoth Royal Tavern" he turns and walks to it. He takes a seat at the bar, he begins muttering to himself "Would ye loike eh ale, Lat'ros? Aye" he says. Lathros sighs as he says it. He turns to the side of the stool, dropping his feet down, making a lound noise. He begins walking down the hallway. He passes some stalls flicking the lights on "Maybe ef 'e turn teh loights back on, more people 'ill cum back". As he does this he steps on the thick glass covering the still lava, the burning heart of Kal'Azgoth. He looks down at it when he does so. He steps off the glass and onto the stone path, it crumbling with each step as well. Lathros flicks his coat off. The coat then lies there, waiting to be used again. Lathros looks down each of the sub - halls. "T'e legion, teh moines, teh vault, teh engineer's guild, teh library, teh church." He walks down the hall of the church. He takes a seat in the middle row, sliding down to the end. He puts his head in his hands, sighing again as he does. He sits there for numerous hours, looking at the heads along the walls. He contemplates to himself. He gets up from his seat, he walks up to the head of Uruguan. He stands there, watching the head. "Why don't ye move. Why can't eh 'ave somun else wif me? Maybeh because nobodeh loikes me". He turns around heading off of the raised platform above the head. He walks out of the hall, leading into the more major one. He walks through the gate leading into the houses. He turns right, heading to his hall. He stumbles, he walks over to the edge, he looks down at the eternal lava, surrounding the throne room, and the king's chamber. He decides to walk away, turning right once more, heading down along the side of the inner circle. He runs his hand through the cool, smooth stone. His hand gathers dust once more. His hand then eventually reaches a door. Knocking on it he says "'Ello? Anyun t'ere?" he begins to choke up "Et's Lathros, eh could use some un". His steps become slower, and louder. The echoes lying throughout the halls "'Ello? Anyun t'ere". . . They linger in the air for an hour. All the while Lathros walks to his clan hall, unlocks the door, and closes it behind him. "Nu need teh lock et again. Eh?" he laughs a bit, walking over to the grand Ironbeard table. Behind his seat lies lava, covering it is iron bars. Lathros sets his head again the back of the seat. His grand son was behind him the whole time. He takes a seat at the opposite side. Lathros gets up, takes a seat next to his son, he runs his hand through the boy's hair, the dust lining it. He picks the boy up, giving him a hug. "Ye remind meh ef Atar" he begins tearing up "Yer teh closest t'ing eh 'ave teh 'im". Lathros sniffs a bit. His grand son looks at Lathros. "I love you too, daddy". Lathros looks at him, smiling. "'Eh do as well, son". Lathros grabs the boy's hand, he leads him down the stairs, the pig oinking as they cascade down the stairs. The boy laughs a bit. Lathros gets a bit angry with the pig, then hears the boy's laugh and tosses the pig a carrot. Lathros opens his door and sets his grand son Godfrey on the bed. "G'ud noight. Eh love ye, sun" Godfrey says "Love you too daddy!". Lathros smiles as he blows out the torch, and walks out the door behind him, he closes the door, then opens it back a bit in rapid succesion as he were to say something, then closes it. Lathros walks up stairs, he leaves the clan hall, goes out the gate to the houses, and walks down through the main hall, he goes and picks up his coat. He bends down and sees the legion uniform, he sighs a bit once more shedding a single manly tear. He picks up the coat and covers the uniform entirely. He walks back through the door to the houses, and goes to his clan hall. He goes back to his seat, and rests his head against the back of the seat. He talks quietly to himself "Daddeh" he says, he remembers the time when his father left. When he was still a beardling. Only this time, his father didn't come back to cheer him up, he's still out there, waiting to be found. Lathros takes off his coat and mutters to himself "Waiting teh be found, Eh?". He pushes the coat together, making a pillow of sorts and hums quietly to himself as he lays his head down upon the coat "Waiting teh be found, under teh mountain tops, waiting teh be found, under teh mountain. . . tops" he soon after dozes off, while humming that under his breath. Dun_Irongut 104 Share Posted September 11, 2013 Godfrey sleeps well that night. Things had been rough for Godfrey lately, but on this day, he began to feel safe once more. It had been a good day, Godfrey thought to himself and now all that was to rest. The warmth from the fireplace creeps in and the halls themselves are cozy. The noise that once echoed through the halls has simmered over the years, leaving only the sound of the very few fires that remain. The flames in the fireplace that lights the household dance, but not wildly. They whirl about, as if it were prepared and well rehearsed. Their crackling is fine tuned and does not blast through the halls, but simply emanates. At one point, Godfrey hears a sound and he's quite sure that he felt a slight drop in temperature and that someone had whisked open the door. Yet he went back to sleep knowing that all would be taken care of by his grandfather. And it seems on this day, the flames knew it had been a good day. For why else would they begin to stir in the middle of the night?
