SCHATTENBURG

LANDSKNECHT REGIMENT

 

History.

 

The Schattenburg regiment can trace its legacy back to the old Stafyr houseguard that was formed after the dismantling of the Stafyrian guardians with the death of Emmanuel Stafyr.

The former lord Marquis Edmund Stafyr was the first kommandant of the houseguard and defended the House from Elysium to Anthos and until the death of Marquis Godwein I. Stafyr.

After that Edmund himself took over the house and his close friend Merek Moonstrike was later made kommandant.

But Lord Edmund’s life was cut short from disease and Merek soon disappeared after his death.

The houseguard was later disbanded during the reign of King William III of Oren.

 

During his reign the Chancellor of House Stafyr, Behmen Stafyr met with the lord grand marshal of the Kingdom of Oren, Duke Adorellan Baelish and was granted his permission to reform the houseguard in the shape of a Royal army regiment but shortly after this approval was granted the King abdicated and Lord Baelish was removed from Grand Marshal.

 

The plans had however already been set in motion and the regiment was once formed serving under House Stafyr and the crown of Renatus.

As tradition all recruits once promoted to gardists must swear loyalty to House Stafyr and the Kingdom of Renatus, to ensure not only the loyalty of the regiment but also the loyalty of House Stafyr to the crown.

 

Structure

 

The regiment answers to the Kommandant who is the superior officer of the regiment, the Grand Marshal and by Stafyrian tradition the Marquis of Schattenburg.

The regiment is stationed inside Schattenburg§ itself and its duties are to patrol and protect the March of Schattenburg with its including baronies and to fight for the Kingdom of Renatus in times of war and conflict.

 

Just as the old Stafyr houseguard, the Schattenburg regiment uses long pikes as a primary weapon whilst using arming swords as a secondary weapon for close quarter combat.

The men of the regiment are trained to fight in pike squares and sheltron formations, being very effective against cavalry.

 

The regiment is divided into two companies.

One company can hold 1000 men ((10)) with 500 ((5)) in each trupp.

The 1st Kompanie is stationed inside Schattenburg itself, guarding the keep and patrolling the mountainside.

Trupp Eins of the 2nd Kompanie is stationed in Schattenwand, guarding the passage to Renatus and the farmlands of Feldkirch and trupp Zwei is stationed in Gramfeste on a small island on the coast of the march, there they protect the sea-route heading to Abresi and monitor all ships sailing towards it.

Kommandant - The commander of the regiment. Responsible for the entirety of the regiment and acting councillor in the Stafyr lord’s council.

He is also personally in charge of promotions and demotions, swearing in new rekruts and the overall security of the March and its borders.

The kommandant reports to the Grand Marshal and by Stafyrian tradition the Marquis of Schattenburg.

 

Hauptmann - There are two captains in the regiment, one for each Kompanie. They are responsible for the management of their Kompanie and its subordinate sergeants.

The hauptmann is also expected to make sure there is a steady flow of recruits in their respective kompanie so to make sure that there is never a lack of guardsmen.

They report to the Kommandant or the highest ranking Renatian noble, knight or military officer in presence. A hauptmann makes 250 minas every elven week.

 

Sergeant - There are two sergeants in each kompani, they are personally in charge of the training and management of each trupp and leading their trupp into battle for the Renatian army.

They are expected to keep their men disciplined and well trained, making sure that the pike formations never break.. A Sergeant makes 175 minas every elven week.

 

Gardist -  A full fledged member of the regiment, a gardist has completed basic training and is expected to hold full knowledge of battle and to be in the front of a trupp. A gardist makes 100 minas every elven week

 

Rekrut - A recruit member of the regiment, a rekrut is a member of the regiment who has not completed basic training and is therefore not considered a full member. Mostly making up the backer lines of a trupp.

To be promoted to a gardist a rekrut must have served for minimum one elven week or proven himself in the line of battle and hold full knowledge of how to fight in either a pike square or a scheltron formation.

Upon recruitment a Rekrut earns 50 minas upon recruitment and additionally 50 minas as a bonus upon their promotion plus the pay raise that is given as a Gardist.
