Hey guys. Some of you know me as the shitposter with the Rick Astley emotes, some of you know me as the one person who asks about how chat feels about women, it doesn’t matter what you know me as, though. For four years I’ve played on LOTC. Next year would be my fifth year. But, my time here must come to a(n) (possibly forever) end. Over the years, I have seen more and more toxicity running through the chat, through the communities I’ve attempted to join. Some have rampant homophobia and transphobia disguised as religion based, some have outright hateful people who want to see small communities fall. I’ve seen staff participate in the latter, I’ve seen people go to great lengths to insult and harass people, even going as far as to call other predators, despite 90% of these people never interacting with minors. I’ve seen little to no staff intervention for these instances, in fact, I’ve seen some staff members encourage these hateful comments and threats to others. I’m tired, y’all. Tired of stressing myself out, tired of having panic attacks over a Minecraft server, tired of being immediately overwhelmed when I log on. I can’t keep doing this, it’s ******* with my mental health and with my already bad disorders, I’m needing to quit this horrible addiction I have to this server. I know this seems really long winded and really stupid, but I figured I’d make a post to tell my friends what’s going on instead of messaging everyone I know that I’m leaving. As of.. Probably Saturday, my characters are going to be shelved pending my (likely not happening) return.
