My concern are with how they actually apply this water to tainted beings. Could you detail that for me (As in how do they control the water if they aren't touching it. Can they still move enough to say throw a bottle of the water for example? Or does the fact that they are maintaining the prayer not even allow that.) That said? As I see it this is a rather well done, diverse magic. I like that it stands to give the elves a shaman equivalent. Alongside this it seems compatible enough with the ability of druids and war clerics to purge blight. Alongside that, I do like that it stands to create temple roleplay, which we don't see often right now. It seems well balanced and as such it has my support.

To Those Wishing To Learn Magic.
Agith replied to Jistuma's topic in Thales and the Fringe Roleplay Archive
Cir'dian ponders over the note before him, tilting his head for a brief moment in time before he then reaches up into his scarf and withdraws a smaller parchment and cloth wrapped piece of charcoal. Honing the tip of the charcoal on the post's edge, Cir proceeds to rest it against the post and begin to write. "No 'I want magic' you say? Well...It's a good thing that the son of Salamandra and the once most powerful water evocationist (Before the incursion of so many new mages who so ruin that title with their playful magic. So long lost are the old ways that it brings a tear to my eye.) The once dreadlord, the man shrunk by evil (How unfortunate that was...), the man who spoke with gods, the war cleric, a once patron of sin now a servitor of justice and mercy and the elder alchemist intends to ask just that! But with that boast over, it's time to get to business. I want magic! Give me Magic...Magic magic magic." Cir then draws small figure of a face with a thumbs up is then drawn beside the statement, snickiering. "There...I am sure he'll absolutely adore this" Cir remarks, returning his materials to the scarf as he then posts up his note, humming an innocent tune and meanders off. -
Inhaling a sharp breath, Cir'dian jolted to life. He exhales a heavied sigh as an immense ache consumes his thoughts, bringing his hand up to his forehead and closing his eyes. "What...." is all he exclaims, eyes scanning the empty bedroom before resting upon the unfilled space beside him on his sleeping mat. Cir frowns, resting his hand over it for a brief moment before leaning forwards and pulling to his feet. He makes his way over to the various gear set up off to the right, kneeling down to pull on the padded shirt, followed by grasping onto the cuirass once filled with the soul of Aelor, the dreadknight. Cir runs his hand over its surface, sighing "I hope you found peace..Aelor." he remarks before pulling the black iron chest piece onto his body, followed by strapping the variety of tanned leather components to his shoulders, the process as usual somewhat difficult to do alone. Cir the pulls the metal vanguards over his arms, and covers his legs in the worn tanned hide plating. Tying the his shortsword to his side and strapping his shield to his back, he steps outside and makes for the temple.

Truth Against The Snow Elves.
Agith replied to Quavinir_Twiceborn's topic in Thales and the Fringe Roleplay Archive
Cir'dian passes by the shredded paper, ears twitching ever so slightly here and there as his curiosity peaks. Shaking his head he then leans forwards to scoop up a fragment, looking to the text on the small fragment before proceeding to lose interest and wander away. -
A Chance To Live Peacefully (Snow Elfs, Etc.)
Agith replied to Helbolt's topic in Thales and the Fringe Roleplay Archive
Tilting his head, Cir'dian peers down to the various accouterments of his trade as a war cleric. "...Helpless?" He adds, chuckling "Well I've not been that since I was a boy...So I suppose this isn't for me! Oh well." Cir then turns, making his way off as he hums a merry tune. -
[Lore] An Addition To Soul Puppetry (+ Lock To The Magic)
Agith replied to Malaise's topic in Denied Lore
While I cannot speak for the lore portion of the soul puppetry, I can chime in happily on the locking portion. Soul puppetry as I am seeing works in life force just like necromancy. Necromancy is locked because drawing away life force will kill you and cannot be self taught as a result. So from that reasoning this rule too applies to soul puppetry and the lock makes valid sense.- 24 replies

An Amendment To The Policy On Pugsying
Agith replied to Alan's topic in News & Announcements Archive
Buy one pugsy get one pugsy free (With several months between! Yaay!) Not a bad decision though in all honesty. Some level amnesty is nice. -
I recall writing a guide about the PVP vs RP issue which is now backed. And I wrote it to try to stop issues like this, clearing the grey area entirely to define rp or pvp with as little drama as possible. Here. http://www.lordofthecraft.net/topic/106857-lotc-official-roleplay-combat-initation-vs-pvp-preparation/ Basically that's how it's intended to be. Rp fighting is RP, Rp prep for combat can be PvP. It clears up the confusion.

[Feedback] Killer Clerics
Agith replied to MamaBearJade's topic in Thales and the Fringe Roleplay Archive
Mmhm. The magic itself cannot be removed unless done so by the order. However the order doesn't promote senseless killing. That will get you a boot , however justified killing is a bit more tolerated since it's typically for a reason which the order deems acceptable (Once more I cite killing a bandit who attacked you, to ensure he doesn't then go on to kill others) -

[Feedback] Killer Clerics
Agith replied to MamaBearJade's topic in Thales and the Fringe Roleplay Archive
So...What's the argument exactly? Creator clerics can kill through mortal means just as much as a tah healer/war cleric can. I fail to see the issue which is spurring on more drama over something already resolved. Creator clerics used the magic to kill, that was the issue. War clerics don't, because we'll be stripped of our powers. That's the balance, though to say we can't kill at all is just silly. War clerics just can't use divine powers to kill non-tainted beings. Example, my character doesn't kill everyone he wants. He is a neutral good character who will do what he can to benefit himself, and others. If he is attacked by a bandit or sees a bandit threatening someone's life? Well it makes sense to put down the "sickness" which plagues the world to protect those who need protecting. Now can we cut the nigh constant threads about the nonexistent unfairness here? Because it's getting old and at this point seems to be just an intent to spur on flame wars as opposed to really getting anything meaningful done. All I am honestly seeing is posts made out of spite towards wardog, who you have consistently proclaimed discontent and malice towards. So how about instead of trying to gimp a magic type which doesn't need it? We look at actual problems and try to resolve those. TL;DR War clerics and clerics don't use magic to kill people, creator clerics did. Creator clerics can still kill with non magic means. Stop starting huge unnecessary debates. -
Oh you can kill them..Just gotta do it with some rp involved and you're golden. Do it...You need their souls. #ToomuchDarkSouls

Wars? Why Do We Promote Them?

Demise Of The Hightower Sisters
Agith replied to King of Cartography's topic in Thales and the Fringe Roleplay Archive
Approaching the area, Cir runs a hand through his hair, peering down to the grave of Sarah Hightower. He slants his mouth before drawing the hand down to rest atop the cross, lightly shaking his head. "Rest now, Sarah. Go to meet your mother. Heh...As I come to think about it, there is something I've been meaning to say." Cir states, exhaling a heavied breath as his adams apple bobs. "I love you, Sarah. I am sorry that I wasn't there for you as a father- I...Simply wished for you to live your own life, away from the hell that is my own. And I am so proud of what you did accomplish in this, your short life. Rest now in peace." Cir then turns, making his way off with a sigh as he pinches the bridge of his nose, sniffling once. He makes his way off. -

To All My Fellow Rp Defaulters
Agith replied to Maletone Blazebeard (Aqua)'s topic in Thales and the Fringe Roleplay Archive
Hardly, you're taking my comment over a game as hateful. Don't get too attached to a reputation over said game! Satire never has to be 100% true, it is an exaggeration to make a point. Anyway the point is that both sides refuse to give up anything to get something back. That's called gridlock -
To All My Fellow Rp Defaulters
Agith replied to Maletone Blazebeard (Aqua)'s topic in Thales and the Fringe Roleplay Archive
Gaius: Where he be like "GAME BRUH WHU CURRZ" (Totally how you talk..Not at all satirical). And half the server agrees. Maletone: Where he be like "GAME NEDZ RULZ AND ERRPEEE UN ERPEE SERVAR" (Totally how you talk, not at all satirical). And half the server agrees Agith: Where he be like "WAI NUT CUMPRMEERSE?" and the server be like "NUH" and he goes and cries in a corner. -
Raising his brow, Cir'dian runs his finger down the page, thumb behind it to provide support. He frowns, lightly shaking his head before turning and meandering off "Shame I'm not a mage." he then adds, head to the ground as he his eyes fleck around the area towards others filling out their forms. He then reaches up, scratching the side of his nose before continuing onwards, armor croaking out in a deep, metallic and crackling tone "Yeah...Good thing" it remarks, chuckling lightly before going silent once more. "Do be quiet, Aelor. You'll get us in a heap of trouble again" Cir replies to the armor, shaking his head "It's bad enough the dreadknights have been looking for you as of late." Cir'dian then continues off, adjusting the munitions cuirass which seems to fit his 5'9 frame quite well.

Patch 3.9: Character Cards And Vip Perks
Agith replied to Sporadic's topic in News & Announcements Archive
The goals of donations are to provide small perks which do not afflict gameplay, but rather just nudge you in the right direction. For this reason I'll say that renaming items as a donator perk is fine (Though it seems a bit high up for it, perhaps it could be made lower). However one issue I am seeing is that it is beginning to seem like you're making a rift between the smaller donations and the bigger donations, this isn't a good idea for the sole fact that if you donate less than one hundred, you really aren't getting much incentive to do so. Even dispersion of fair perks has shown in the past to bring in more donations which in turn helps the server. It is for this reason perhaps focusing on perks for 500 and 200 dollar donations is a bad idea, since that is way high up on a bracket and most people will not dish out that kind of money to a server. As for the issue with playercards? This one is a bit more debatable. On one hand you have the restriction on normal players to play multiple characters, hence destroying at least one of their alts that they may not one to. In a sense you've forced a PK. On the other hand this isn't a debilitating thing, so I am torn on it. -
Please excuse the wall of text, had to address several comments Does that mean you cannot MAKE a system? Okay 4 failed emotes total, 4 hits = loss of battle. Your argument isn't valid because a system can be made to adjust it, arguing that there is no system currently, so saying powergaming and everything will happen is inherently a flawed argument. role rp can take a little longer than pvp yeah, however it is far faster than full on rp, far less prone to powergaming and an actual compromise. As for the plugin? I've addressed with issue, and we can deal with the current one for now. That said the fact remains that one can be made to adjust, JUST like how we did it with PvP. The problem lies in how what we are doing is no middle ground, it is a decision which favors one side of the server and the other. While we rp leading up to PvP, all that goes out of the window. Roleplay combat can yield far better stories than ones imagination, it provides an actual lay out with which a character can recant the experience (Of which while possible with PvP, it is far more prone to variation). Rp goes out the window after PvP starts, and while people vouch that the rp leading up to the PvP is working? The fact of the matter is I have seen minimal instances of respectable roleplay leading up to it (The argument that people will do so is idealistic, and the reality is more often than not it involves a few basic emotes leading into a demand for pvp default, we need a better set of regulations if you ever expect this to work, since we don't actually define what sufficient roleplay is). However it all bears back down to the fact that this isn't at all a compromise to the people who don't want to pvp (Of which is not avoidable, regardless of the arguments that it is. Let's keep it real here). As I've stated in my guide, both bear benefit, but need to have their place. PvPers have always gotten guaranteed pvp in large battles. Roleplayers no longer are truly favored, as their roleplay is not guaranteed anymore beyond a few emotes leading up to forced PvP. You can make amends and make both sides okay with a solution. It is a compromise, not a "Let's make everyone happy and bubbly over this new change", compromises mean both sides get something. PvPers get faster settings and minimal risk of powergaming (And we can easily define how the rolling system would work given a bit of effort). Roleplayers get to roleplay, and they get to be guaranteed that their roleplay isn't going to be halted abruptly by enforced PvP. PvP is not roleplay, PvP is a substitute for what can be made into a great experience for both parties in a timely manner. Roleplay is far more prone to creating memorable experiences than PvP, and that's a fact. On the same note, tell me how rolling can lead to powergaming without use of arguments pertaining to plugin bias, that can be fixed, and without use of the "No system" argument. Minecraft is the medium, not the end all solution. The fact is that we are a roleplaying server, if you want minecraft as it's intended, play vanilla. The point is that we are a text based roleplaying server which makes use of minecraft to provide a visible counterpart. TL;DR Roll default isn't serving to replace pvp or rp. If you want to do one or the other, then go ahead. However it would serve to make it so that if both sides can't agree, that each side gets a benefit instead of one side getting all the benefit at the cost of the other. Consider them three different entities, if you can't agree, then roll because it's the fair alternative.

One thing I will never understand is why no compromise has been made at all. People like PVP, people like RP. People don't like RP because it takes too long and involves powergaming, people don't like PVP because it isn't rp. Most obvious compromise? Rolling. Why? Because PVPers don't have to deal with the risk of powergaming and it takes far less time. And roleplayers get their roleplay. Sure PvPers don't actually get to PvP 1v1...But in large battles they do, where as roleplayers only get to rp fight if the other party is up to rp fight. Meaning that PvP is 100% guranteed, while rp isn't. See that problem? That's not a compromise, that's going from one extreme (Pure RP default) to another (Pure PvP default). The arguments and drama this has caused, and all the ban reports and so on (Of which I might add have not dropped in number like PvPers said they would, they've remained pretty much the same as they used to as it pertains to quantity). Roll fighting is the best solution to an issue we're not solving, and while PvP is fun (Yes I'd say I am a quite good pvper), perhaps its' not right to force it all the time, when pvp still happens in large battles and in groups of 5+. So why not switch to rolling default beyond the need of a plugin which has proper rolling (Though our current one works just fine, factoring in skills and what not can be done later or not at all and we'd be no worse for ware as it pertains to this). No one gets an unusual edge, and it solves some the issues which each side presents since it is a compromise. #Rolldefault2014 As for the guide? Nice job. Edit: We can have both...Roll default with rp + PvP with larger scale battles!

That doesn't make sense at all. How would you possibly derive a name from a sensation? I'll go to the head crushed by hammer. You know you have a terrible headache. Who says you didn't fall and die from the fall? Or in regard to an axe cutting off your head, you got your head cut off yeah, you feel the stinging pain in the region. But you can't deduce if it was an axe or sword or any information from it. Lets use the example of a small cut. You may not notice it until you see the stinging, but then you can't recall where you even got it from ( Happens to me ALL the time)

Seems like a nice splice of contract magic and something a bit more new. I like it.
