  1. I've always considered mir'sair for the troublemaker branch.
  2. Officially? You must be misinformed. There's not going to be an official release of this language. It is an ancient language of which the recovery is gradual, and slowly Elves who are interested in such begin to learn again the secrets of the tongue they once spoke.
  3. Added an Elven word for 'give' or 'grand'. It was needed.
  4. Personally I would work from the word igne'sae alone, meaning 'destruction' or 'war'. One can further inflect this composition to igne'sair, which would be someone who has a purpose related to war, no doubt meaning 'soldier'. An army would be many soldiers. Thus, igne'sairan.
  5. For the lore I wrote I've been acknowledging texts without capitalization, like Elindor and Laurir said. It's supposed to be ancient written elvish (there's a reason it's written), and I only capitalize the word Mali and place names. No start of sentence caps. Rivell uses capitalization randomly, though. I suppose he'll learn to write correctly soon enough. These actually exist, you just have to compose them. There's just no 'hey' or 's'up' greeting for friends. However, here's what I propose: For strangers, something like 'good day'/'karin'ayla' For awed greetings, use a wish or blessing like 'ame naean'leh evareh' For friends you can use either. Most friends may have stick with a blessing they like and use it exclusively for meetings between them.
  6. Actually I wrote that lore you're talking about with the language that already existed. But now that I added new words, I can tweak it a little bit. These are just words I find vital a lot of the time. With 2.0 coming I want elves to be able to speak exactly what's on their Elven mind should they wish it ;)
  7. Added a few words (for loneliness, to find and to want) and also updated the rules on infinitives. Constructing complex sentences is now finally possible!
  8. Just made major rage thread. This won't end well for me...

I'd say more constructive, and informative, rather than Rage, that's in my opinion though.

  9. The Elven Language is an open project, stranger. One joins the group of Recoverers by simply defining oneself as being in it. That being said, should your contributions and insights prove to be particularly useful and continue to be such, we will be more than glad to review future matters with you in a more personal matter. Eager to hear from you, fellow scholar. Rivell Gordian.
  10. sure, but i think this is what you're looking for: http://www.lordofthecraft.net/forum/index.php?/topic/19254-recovering-the-ancient-tongue-of-the-elves/
  11. Yes I'm working on it, however slowly. Updates will be eventually upgraded all the way. I just don't have the time to filter right now, so it takes a while (can only be on for short bouts).
  12. It should be Chirr'Ker Good luck with it
  13. You should tell me about that. In my head, Elvish defenitiely isn't a 'stupefy!!' tongue for magic, though. I'm thinking long chants and careful incantations. Sounds like a plan. I've seen books on elfish language pop up here and there; it seems to be helpful. I'm also planning on a seminar on the language, as I feel that even this topic doesn't completely teach what you're supposed to know
  14. There you go. And if you're learning it just for magic I wouldn't recommend elven to you. It's hard. And not endorsed by anyone as actually useful so you might still get protesters. But now that I think of it, if you RP learning elvish you could probably tie that into RPly learning magic (don't quote me though... I am no expert on what's allowed and I don't have the GMs point of view on any of this).
  15. Well, Ill quote myself from a PM i sent earlier today. It's about my ideas on Elven and how it ties in with magic. The language is a unique kind of magic and doesnt conflict with Undead or the Mage Guild. However, to make these musings I had actual lore I WILL need GM support, and the need to spread it. For now, it's just for you to chew over :P What I wrote there allows for minimum conflict with people writing their own history and not knowing about/wanting to use elvish. That was the original purpose. I did not want to 'claim' magic with my language. That'd be selfish.
  16. I think she'd love it :) I do too. I hope it'll suit you. Always a good idea.
  17. A word for teacher would be naelir I always support this! You can check out the wiki page as it has more ready-to-use sentences. Well, this language is 'ancient', which means it's forgotten by most elves. You generally expect a smaller group to borrow a few words from it, and only a select few to speak it fluently. It serves a purpose, but it's different from what the Orcs do. Thank you, Mylas. Your faith is greatly appreciated. I warn you, though, that this language is difficult to learn, even with documentation. I wouldn't dream of forcing the casual elf in LotC to speak it fluently :P With your support, however, we can bring it to light to a certain type of RPer. It certainly gives great immersion if the right people can use the tongue in the right situations.
  18. Busy times, the main post needs still be updated and I swear I'm working on it. See revisions, including the official rule on infinitives/'concept words', soon enough.
  19. Thank you :) Well, I agree. Obvioisly, Being called 'book' would just be plain silly :P You know about Truenames? I love the concept. I modeled elvish slightly after the creator tongue, implying elvish words can directly communicate with nature. It's now also slightly similar to the Thu'um, but I had the concept before Skyrim was released XD. Hope you'll like it. IC books are perfect. Elvish isn't supposed to be as common as Orcen, but more of an Aegis equivalent of Latin for the elitists to speak. It's older and far harder to learn that what the Orcs speak. And sadly, there won't be a Elvish rebound of 'skah'. Frankly, 'skah' annoys me because a certain group of RPers seem to miss the point of it ('motherskahing skah' is unacceptable.) Elvish swearing is going to be all about 'curses' (as in 'may you be smitten with the force of a thousand collapsing stars') I saw that before. The town names too. You probably discovered by now that people like to come up with their own names more, though. If you ever expand on the idea, I can suggest offering something grounded in lore (apart from languages there's naming people after saints and such...) You can use one of the many name generators out there, yes. I can suggest the Morrowind one for wood, dark and high elves. However, the Elven language is as un-tolkien as possible, mostly because of the wishes of the original creator. And thanks :) I can tell you that in Elven dusk is not a particularly awesome word. Better you stick with English. Also, have you considered becoming an acting duo with Dawn? I'd watch that... Thanks :)
  20. I approve of the books on Elvish in your house!

  21. Why? Are you making me an offer?

  22. Thank you for your kind words. I hope your child will enjoy the new name. People like coming up with their own names. This is not surprising or a bad thing in the least; it's part of the creative process. However, I find there's always RPers with a soft spot for lore (like me) who would like to let the background, lore and spirit of LotC breathe through every aspect of their character. To help them out, there's this guide.
  23. I gave this an update just now; make sure names stay fresh out there.
  24. ((This is more than correct. I do feel like you deserve a spot on the 'elven language' team for your continued help. It'll mean you can help brainstorm and develop the language. I just need to know you understand how the current grammar and combination rules of the language work, so that you won't add stuff that we feel breaks the consistency of the tongue. Let me know if you're interested))
