Anyone who was here in Aegis and isn't an Asulon/Anthos scrub should understand that it was better in Aegis when people could pretty much do what they wanted. It was 10000% more fun. In Aegis you didn't really see the elves getting raided that much and when they did they didn't complain about it because of ((muh rp)) because conflict is a part of rp and they dealt with it like everyone else. If your nation is capable of being crippled and laid to waste by a group of 5 bandits and you literally cannot find any way to get rid of them through RP or otherwise you shouldn't be a goddamn nation. Aegis rules >>>>>>>>>>>>> w/e we have now i wish for a return to simpler times!!

http://www.lordofthecraft.net/topic/110186-mercenaries/ Sorry! It looks like you've been outbid, unless you have a higher offer?
-
It should be noted that wars/battles count as campaigns! Jobs are defined as raids/robberies/kidnappings!
-
1-30 men are available for you to hire! The price is 100 per man for a single job, and 500 per man for the entire campaign! Money is money, and a contract is a contract, past relations don't mean anything!

A letter is sent to Prince_Snow_Elf of the Princedom_Of_Fenn Greetings sir! It appears to me you have a war about to happen! As such I would like to offer the services of myself and my fellows as mercenaries in your army! We are well equipped and good at things that involve murder and terrorizing populaces! We will do anything!!! But be quick, this offer is for a limited time only, while supplies last! If you don't hire us, someone else will! If this offer interests you, contact us through letters! Again, be quick, supplies are limited!

Deep within the woods of the Fringe there exists a group of individuals, banded together by their desire to be free, to do as they wish. Some call them bandits, others dub them brigands and thugs - but there is no official name for this group, no face at its head. Purpose: To obey no laws but ones own, to make a living and prosper however one wishes to do so. To offer a safe haven and like minded folk to those who wish to live the free mans life. Work: The kind of work one will be involved in upon gaining membership varies widely, but would probably be considered unscrupulous to outsiders and "illegal" to the totalitarian governments of the land. Joining: *A very simple, badly scrawled note is left on various message boards in Vekaro, the Cloud Temple, Alras, and other smaller hovels and villages. It reads:* "Those who wish to join this brotherhood of free peoples should leave their intention posted on this here board. Keep it simple, you'll be contacted eventually. To maintain the safety of our people, this group is relatively exclusive so as to keep out spies and halfhearted amateurs." ((Just kinda post on this thread. This is just for 3.5 mostly, but the group will continue in 4.0 after an updated thread and member purge. Anyone is free to post here. If you like serious outlaw RP that's not too serious, this might be for you. Think Aegis and early Asulon banditry.))

Wars? Why Do We Promote Them?
Coaster replied to Stag's topic in Thales and the Fringe Roleplay Archive
I forgib you Gayus. Also he is right. As fun as wars are, in Anthos, the ones that were actually large scale and lasted in peoples memories were usually fought most viciously OOCly. People are very capable of, and often times are, assholes to eachother - especially when their pride is on the line. I don't recall this being as much as a problem in Asulon or Aegis, from my memory there was indeed a lot more cooperation. An example is the "Great Bandit War" between myself and Wrath in the beginning of Asulon. Not many people know this but that conflict was entirely preplanned, and made for the sole purpose of getting some publicity for our niche (bandit villains) as well as giving people some better RP. I feel like I can comment on this because I was one of the main perpetrators of OOC hate that stemmed from IC conflict, it is very easy for people to dislike eachother over this game as petty as that sounds. I genuinely hated Mirtok and company when the Blackmont - Teuton War reached its zenith, or the period of time people refer so romantically as the best conflict/series of battles Anthos had seen so far. Wars should be promoted; in a way they are the lifeblood of this server, and I can pretty much guarantee that videos on youtube of epic battles with hundreds of participants garner far more applicants then three hours of tavern RP. Because of this, wars should not only be promoted but much more diligently regulated. It is strange to see how wars see far less supervision and attention then other aspects then the game (i.e villain applications, rules regarding raids/pvp, etc.. etc...) when it is arguably the most important for server growth. Just my thoughts. homie. -

I joined the server September of 2011, and was banned for approximately a third to half of the time I played on the server (Meaning for every three days I was active, I spent around one to two as a banned player). Even though I think a lot of ya'll people are ******* or whatever, I won't say I didn't have a good time. For a time, I really did love LoTC, I found it awesome that I could find like minded people and play games with them and **** or whatever we did. I am known, almost exclusively, for starting the Flays - in truth just a rehash of House Bolton from Game of Thrones with my own spin. In the beginning, it was something really special, something completely different from the run of the mill goody too shoes pole up the ass nobles houses in Renatus at the time. I loved how it spontaneous it was, how unique, despite being heavily influenced by outside sources. When I created House Flay, it was done with a single intention, unmarred by my own personal aspiration for internet glory and infamy. I wanted to replace the void left by the removal of the undead, a player run antagonist. To me, it seemed entirely more organic, as it was, and entirely possible with the backing of Mogroka and Renatus (however nominal and lackluster it was in the beginning). No more pre determined battles, no more instances of the playerbase only being allowed to look on as the selected few got to make their impact - no - I wanted to create something that made people, and the choices they made, matter. Very early on, I saw why it had never been done before. Not only the majority of the server, but almost every single other person in the nation I had just joined had characters completely white and black in their characters' morality, just white knights everywhere. It was clear that to prevent myself from being wiped out very early on, I had to play along with the entire noble house game and get myself a standing. This is the point at which my own goals got in the way. The rate at which I rose in the ranks and in power in Renatus was unprecedented. Players swarmed to me, I was protected by Mogroka (both IC and OOC), and to the ire of many other players and groups, I seemed a little untouchable. It wasn't long before I started to notice this as well. I logged on one day and realized I was the strongest in Renatus, had some of the best PVPers on the server, and had so much influence with so many members of the staff (you could say they were in my pocket) that I knew I had nothing to worry about OOCly. The pixels called out to me. They were like : yo motherfucker dont you want these motherfucking pixels, and im like: **** yea dude. Where it was once about providing an interesting new spin to RP and a new antagonist, it was now about making the daily raid, taking other peoples items, robbing players on the road, conquering their nations and town and hovels. In a way, I accomplished what I had wanted - about half way through House Flays lifespan, people legitimately hated us almost universally, both OOC and IC. I will admit, my overly eccentric quest to take everyone's pixels and to just have singularly combat RP, if any RP at all, made me an obvious target for peoples OOC dislike. However, from my own perspective, I was under siege OOCly for things I had done in the game, which I thought should just be handled through the same medium. This desensitized me to any and all criticism, why should I care what others think? So, I just ignored it, and played along. Brought the hate from the game into out of character. This was some parts frustration, miscommunication, and simple disgruntled ire. My next mistake, probably one of the biggest. Not only was I under constant judgment and criticism, but those that played with me as well were. We would sit in our teamspeak channel and hear whisperings of what GM said what, which player mentioned what, as our own dislike for the rest of the server population fermented and grew into a massive pile of **** you guys. I watched as my friends were shunned for being associated with me, insulted because of the way they played the game. I decided it was no longer about the community, it was just us, and them. I no longer gave a damn about providing fun RP for other parties, as long as I had fun, and if someone complained about something I did, who cares? **** em. From that point it was just a spiral of hatred, spite, and backstabbing. Whatever I could possibly do to win, I did. It mattered that much to me to be better than the other people on the server, to prove that we were in the right and they were in the wrong. I broke rules, I harassed people OOCly, and I manipulated my friends into hating the others on the server more and more. House Blackmont in Anthos was a big step forward, but the same core problems were still there. The mentality of it being us against the whole server, the focus on items, and the complete lack of a real purpose besides being my little play thing after I got off work. I look back sometimes, maybe while I'm taking a **** or going on a walk, and think about what I could have done differently? What would it be like if I had just stayed the course and not let my own anger and pride get in the way of what could have been a wonderful thing for the server? I would call many more people my friends, and a lot fewer people "******", that's for sure. A side point for a moment. A lot of people know me as a bigot, a close-minded, unintelligent hick from Virginia. Yea, I talk ****, yea I say some terrible stuff, but no matter how many times I was told by Gm's and whoever, I was never going to change who I fundamentally was for a minecraft server. It seems facist really to even ask something like that. I made it a point never to directly assault people verbally, though for real though, I talked **** about like all of you behind closed doors, as I'm sure ( I know) many of you did to me. That aside, my conclusion, I want to get a ******* burrito so I'm going to wrap this up. It's been a long time since I was last banned, for whatever bullshit I was banned for (I am very well aware the flimsy motherfucking reasonings for my ban, and the sketchy, rule breaking evidence or complete lack of evidence and the extremely convenient timing, thought Idc really so w/e), and as a college bound ****** I'll just make my amends I guess. Sorry it didn't turn out better. It could have been great for everyone. To all my friends and some ******* who were in House Flay/Blackmont, I have never in my life met such cool motherfuckers from all over the world (except Firefly sorry lol but that was the ****)). I was truly blessed to have been able to play with you guys and girls (2!!111) and have fun, and during the hardest parts of my life (getting arrested, losing my mom, nearly getting evicted) ya'll were there and not ******* or whatever so thanks faggots. Some of you were upstanding members of this community before you got to me, and I'm sorry If I fucked you up in the head and ruiend your e reputation. Here's a list of almost all of you, you guys were the best (well most of you). Thank you for letting House Flay die (FINALLY), you guys who are doing you own thing are making me proud. If you're still trying to make it happen give up, House Flay was essentially just a personality cult base on my OOC self, and I'm just being honest. man im going to eat the **** out of this ******* burrito tell me if youre not on the list i guess Falkor whatever your MC name is who cares mylas the elf gm hunwald the ***** Coastercam0 Urara Pheonixpro1 Chuckaboo _Pok_ Sirsnowman NordicGod BowloSoup Assassinofawsome ROMANEN seannie22 Pito444 bouby99 xXKiingXx Zezimus Marcitos123 Yekim Monstaaamunch BuildToSurvive Higgsyy Jordanb139 Chillipepper97 Hunt3dstorm Rhia SnazzyEnglishMan Heerozeero Beast720 The_Brownster Recon_Soldier96 Coolomancp Killjoy445 Jackabeano TaylorStriffe csalz96 TheCrackerJack Jspencer10 Ze_Surgeon Andyboy124 Xanivic Mystronghold Creeperslayer999 DivinusXiphias Jtheo2016 Mdhegs CollosalCheddar BigHatMan Chafferccino Coconuta Nic201 Rurrik Leland22 Aradel BannanaToYou SimplePancake Camsa Komodo445 HylianMuffin CTAPnews Aislin Schwan Youlovesocks Jakesimonson

A quiet day, the sun was shining, there was a light breeze that made the slight heat barely noticeable. The Dreadfort, a symbol of hate and oppression, violence and malice, almost seemed graceful in the rolling hills of western Oren. The citadel of evil was just as silent as the land around it, no cursing, or clanking of armor, or clash of swords. In his bed, surrounded by his commanders, family, and loyal soldiers, Augustus Blackmont laid. His breathing was steady and faint. His eyes were closed, bandanna lowered. In whispers, he spoke. He didn't know exactly how old he was, but it was old, perhaps too old. His entire life all he'd dreamed of was conquest, of fame, of fortune. In the end though, he'd always knew it'd come to this. In a bed, with not enough time. In his hand, he clutched the imperial edict declaring the disbandment of the Teutonic Order. At least he had lived to see that. He'd been responsible for the deaths of thousands, for the maiming of more. So much grief and sorrow he had caused, for so little. It was the end, he knew, no way out. Death did not negotiate, or balk at threats. Death was the one thing he could not beat. Yet as he lay there, wasting away, feeling his old wounds begin to ache, Augustus could not help but feel at peace. He was proud of what he had accomplished, how much he had managed to do in such a comparatively small amount of time. If only he had been born an elf, he lamented. There would never again be a man like him, he knew. Never again such a scourge upon peace, or a bastion for corruption. It made him jut with pride. His faithful Captain, Drelik Letholdus, who had served with him for decades upon decades placed a hand gently on Augustus' shoulder. "I'll see you soon, M'lord". Augustus nodded. When he was a younger man, he had wanted his death to be glorious, forever immortalized in its heroics. He was content to be there though, in that bed, with those that cared for him around him. His wife came next, with his son in tow. The boy hated him, he knew, there was no compassion in those young green eyes. His wife Lorin, he would miss, he had to admit. He had cared nothing for her when they were first married, merely a tool for alliance. But she had been better to him than any woman he had ever known. He said his goodbyes and waved them on. They came and came, one by one, those who fought for him, with him, and once against him. The boy would continue what he had started. Though he despised his father, Tiberius was more like him than he knew. He would suit. When the last had gone, only the select few remained. Slowly and with deliberation, Augustus replaced the bandanna that had defined him his entire life over his mouth and face. He would be buried with it. He was ready now. Somehow, he felt ready to face eternity, whatever punishment or underworld was in store for him. He hoped his brothers were there. With one last great sigh, Augustus Blackmont, once known as August Flay, first being known as "Prince", passed away in his keep of the Dreadfort with his family and companions surrounding him, of advanced age. So ends his story, as a new one begins. ((I'd hoped to stick around for a while longer, but I've no time for a ban appeal. As much as I hate to admit it, LoTC has carried me through a large portion of my life. As an 18 year old independent, I've decided that there isn't time for games anymore. The circumstances of my ban are shady at best, and while I could easily refute most of what I was banned for (With evidence) I think now is as good as time as ever to say my goodbyes. I don't want people to remember me for being a good roleplayer, or a competent leader, but rather as a friend (For those that I consider my friends). I've met fantastic people that I'm sad I probably won't ever talk to again, but life is all about making connections and sometimes moving on. It's been almost two years since I first joined the server and for two years, I've had a pretty good time. You people I'll miss know who you are, butmore than that I hope I've done my part on LoTC as a player, and someone who helped make it what it is today. I won't be logging into skype, or going into Teamspeak, or trying to be unbanned, or playing other games very often so consider this my final goodbye to almost all of you. P34c3))

Augustus Blackmont sends a letter back to Charles Greymane, unmarked, and brief. "You've lost your final chance at redemption. When the Teutonic Order is nothing but a memory your household will be next."
-
From the Dreadfort, dozens of messenger birds take flight, making their way to the various keeps and holds of the Lords and Ladies of the Holy Oren Empire, all bearing the Flayed Man of Blackmont. To the Rightful Lords and Ladies of the Holy Oren Empire, Let it be known that from this day forth, as decided upon by his Lordship Augustus Blackmont, Master of the Dreadfort; the title of King of Hanseti, currently held by Mirtok DeNurem, Hochmeister of the Teutonic Order is hereby contested. Given the inefficiency of Mirtok Denurem in defending this Empire's borders to his full capacity, his failure to prioritize his duties to the Emperor, and his aggression and sedition in regards to his fellow nobles, Lord Blackmont makes it known that he intends to seize the throne of Castle Greywynn and the title of King of Hanseti, so as to better serve the nation. The DeNurem line will be wiped clean, the Teutonic Order reestablished or destroyed, and Hanseti reformed under a new leader. Those Lords and Ladies that support this claim are requested to make it publicly known and thereby refuse to acknowledge Mirtok DeNurem as the true King of Hanseti, the title instead rightfully belonging to Augustus Blackmont. Houses that support this claim as legitimate: -House Blackmont -House Denims-Therving -House Carrion -House Valois -House Greymane -House Valkrae -House de Sarkozy -House Chivay House Toov House Edgehand House Aelblight Notable individuals that support this claim as legitimate: -King Peter Chivay -Prince Thomas Chivay -Imperial Prince Pertinax Horen -Duke Pius Silverblade -Duke Podrik Denims-Therving -Count Hadrien de Sarkozy -Count Siegmund Carrion -Count Throdo Denims-Therving -Count Charles Greymane -Countess Rose Valois By the will of Lord Augustus Blackmont.
