I dislike the way this was handled, I would also be annoyed if something I put that much time and effort into was just taken away from me -the same way Vaq felt when he was not getting anything out of coding. Perhaps if you asked for some people to be given more responsibility, so that major changes could be made without the consent of Availer, this could have been avoided. He is the founder and did put a lot of work into the community. I personally found him down to earth with an apparent love for the server, I hope his post is a sign that he misses this community and hopefully something can be worked out.

I worked in the SEO department for a very large company for some time and getting a high rank for something such as 'Role-playing server' would not be as hard as you think with a community such as this one at hand and some clever methods.

I like the idea of fast traveling vehicles, but I think the problem is not the distance in between the places but how the space is used. I think that instead of just leaving large amounts of land between the major cities unused and bare, making it so that you don't see any other players for hundreds of blocks, the space should be sold to single characters for them to build a small home or farm and maybe the odd tavern/ small business. This would plug the gap of no role playing between the major settlements. You could argue that this would detract from the role playing within the major settlements but the characters are not able to fully support themselves on the small patch of land they are given, they will still need to travel to the large settlements in order to buy materials and add to the role playing.

Perhaps it can be role-played as the nations getting together and having a large crackdown on bandits, basically removing a large percentage of the bandit villains, making it so that only the best villains can exist without being killed or arrested for life. From there the villain population can be built up with more unique characters.
