*some blood covers the pages, but overall, the journal is in good order, the page is titled ‘The Misadventures Of The Asulon Herald’*
I was given this book today by a good friend of mine, Telinir. He has helped me through a lot these past few months. I recently joined the writing team of The Asulon Herald, and it has been a nether of a ride these past few months. I see this book as a gift to write down everything that’s happened. If this chest wound kills me, I’d like people to understand what occurred today, and the days and weeks before. I want to tell you about this little building on the outskirts of Arethor, next to a field with mysterious lights, and next to two pubs filled with mysterious people.
I sent off my acceptance letter a few months ago, and was accepted, obviously. My life was going well, I met the love of my life, I wrote my story, and I’m in the first page of the first issue. The business is run by two halflings, Myro and Attacus, and we’ve been through a lot together since then. And what I mean by this is, this shop is surrounded by drunkards, goblins, high and mighty nobles, and members‘ of guilds whose motives are questionable. I don’t remember everything that’s happened, but I do remember everything from about a month ago.
-Chapter One : The Attempted Abductions of Attacus-
A good place to start, considering it has happened about three times now. I don’t know what it is about the halfling Attacus that makes him a prime target for abductions, but it happens to him almost every week. I came out of the office when the sun rose, hearing Myro and Attacus discussing things below me. I heard the words ‘I was stabbed’. I raced down, and I saw Attacus holding his shirt up, a fresh wound. Shocked, I stumble back into a wall. Attacus tells us that it is nothing, merely a flesh wound, and that we should not worry. Weeks later, I awake to the sounds of screaming outside. It’s Attacus, yelling. “It’s the man who stabbed me! It’s the man who stabbed me!” I run outside and tackle him to the ground. I of course am pulled off by pompous nobles, saying that the man is ‘no threat’. This was the first incident. The second time, it was much, much worse. Three diamond armoured men yell and shout outside as I sit on the roof. I attempt to ignore them, focusing on my meditation. It is when I hear Attacus cry for help that I run out the door. Telinir and I attempt to shove the diamond armoured men off, but we soon see there is nothing we can do. Much to my regret, I leave Telinir to deal with it, seeing there is nothing I can do. I see my lover on the road, and I run to her. I love her so much, I couldn’t stand to see her hurt. I lead her somewhere safe. When I got back though, something had happened that changed my view on life forever.
-Chapter Two: The Tale Of Telinir-
Telinir, as I’ve stated before, is a good friend of mine. I got him his position as a writer, and we have clicked ever since. It is what occured a few weeks ago that made me realise that I need to grab hold of what I have, because everyone is really on the brink of death. All it takes is one self-righteous bastard to ruin it. That is what almost happened to Telinir that fateful night. I was wondering amongst the mysterious field when I hear a scream. A friendly dwarf, who never told me his name, and I run to the scream. I almost break down in tears right then, seeing Telinir lying in a pool of his own blood. I’m in a daze, the Dwarf takes charge. We pick up Telinir and walk him through the streets of Arethor, screaming ‘Doctor’. If it wasn’t for Jacque being in the bar, Telinir would have died. Jacque gives Telinir cream for his burns, stiches his wounds, and gives him things to ease the pain. A kind lass Zoey also helps us, giving us a bandage and helping us take Telinir to the tavern. We are able to find an open room, and we nurse him back to health. He speaks of what happened to him, only remembering one name. Red. That was one of the men who almost killed him. I can’t remember the specifics, but Tel had half-drowned, been burned and been slashed at in multiple places. This would bring me to today’s events, I suppose I’ll write about them now.
Chaptor Three: Hyperio’s Roof Predicament
Today, I was sitting on my roof, meditating, as usual. I’d been missing my lover, so I was a bit upset and angry already. So there I was, pondering life’s mysteries, when someone shouts from below, ‘Get off the roof, you fool!’ This was my roof, so I knew full well I could do as I please on it. I tell that to the man, along with some rather rude obscenities. He tells me again to get off, and I tell him he can stick it where he doesn’t want it to be stuck. I am then, out of the blue, hit in the chest by a throwing knife. I fall off the roof, and onto the ground below. I begin to bleed out, I see people fighting for me, Telinir using his new blade to take out my assailant. A doctor and a smith take me away from the battle, stitching me up and laying me to rest. They give me painkillers and sleeping drugs. The tavern is then under attack, from the member of the Syndicate who attacked me. Connor, the doctor, sneaks me out to where I am writing this from, the Asulon Herald office.
I am writing this merely to remember this month’s events, and to keep fresh in my mind that life is a thread, and the thread seems to thin around the Asulon Herald office.
(( I hope you guys enjoyed, Ebo told me to write something like this merely to capture the craziness that surrounds us. I will edit this heavily and add parts later, I’m quite tired now. Thanks for reading! ))
