[20000/20000] The unknown blackened stone found upon the outskirts of the newly settled mining town, Mineria, caused much commotion. Nowhere else in Numeria had a perfectly smooth, glass-like stone, except the ruins found within Helmden, which was known to only a select few. Correlations were made between the two, and the King issued for a proper investigation into this material known as ‘Osmalt’. The Royal Treasury redirects some funds from its budget to ensure a concise and coherent report is established, allowing for research facilities to be constructed within the growing Settlement of Mineria. 2. THE KINGDOM OF NUMERIA The Royal Era of Aemer, A.E 402 (Year 1502) The Battle of Shadows, Era of Conflict, 400 Years Ago THE FALCON The hall clamored with the incessant discussions of those occupying it - the King had put on display what was believed to be the corpse of Symon the Unifier along with all the artifacts acquired from the excavation of the Helmden ruins. It begun great theological debates about the nature of Numerian history, and their place in the world, as those present attempted to make sense of the possessions now under the jurisdiction of their Kingdom. The skeletal remains of the Emperor that united all of Naros greatly piqued Aemyr’s interest - with such a thing in his hands, he could claim himself to be the legitimate successor to the Symonian Empire, but in doing so, forsaking his Elements and throwing Numeria into chaos and upheaval. A great conundrum brewed in Aemyr’s thoughts, no doubt, nevertheless, uncovering the secrets of the past proved to be of great benefit. In his palms lay the prophecies of time immemorial, ominous threats and the potential to find the truth of it all. Aemyr must act fast upon his newfound secrets, or else risk being laid to waste by foes nefarious to his cause. In respect of the ancient past and commemoration of his ambitions, he adorns himself with the crest of the Greytalon as he strives to claim his spot in this legacy. Their sole purpose is the defense of the forests that the Numerians occupy. Members are usually taken at a young age, from which they are trained rigorously in the matters of ranged warfare and knowledge of nature. They were formed during the anarchy that was the Era of Conflict, when all Numerians were warring each other; with no central government to aid in the defense against foreign interference into the woodlands, a band of exiles, veterans of war, and runaways established the Guard. Constructing new Temple. [10000/10000] The Expeditions into the Roots of the World left many things for the Royal State to focus upon; the northern range with its imposing wall of unlikely proportion, to the potential passageway in the south. Though intriguing to most, the Northern Wall was deemed too troublesome to handle at the current time - the King insteads decide to focus his efforts upon the matters of the passageway. In order to better facilitate Numerian control over the Mountain Pass, the Settlement of Mineria is established upon its entrance; it is expected that it will later become a hub of mining and trade for those attempting to cross the Roots of the World once the passageway has been expanded. [5000/5000] As Numeria rapidly militarized itself for outward expansion, the need for a sophisticated and flexible army was required. Recruiting from the urban sectors of the Kingdom, middle-class citizens are encouraged to enlist into the army, bringing their wealth along with them. Once the quota had been met, the newly formed units of infantry would be dispatched to the Fortress of Helmden, the Army Headquarters of Numeria for basic combat training. They are trained in the matters of Medium Infantry, designated to hold the line during battle. A delegate of Numerians, accompanied primarily by the Duke of Nyria and a few mages are sent along the trade routes to their lands to partake in the Coronation and subsequently, the Conference. They arrive with a plentitude of gifts that one could only find within Numeria, most notably, a vial of water from the Well of Eternity. Alongside with their arrival, the Numerians make their intentions known, also wishing to establish a dialogue in order to facilitate trade between Sehmon and Numeria. 3. THE KINGDOM OF NUMERIA The Royal Era of Aemer, A.E 401 (Year 1501) The Royal Army’s march southward. SECRETS UNCOVERED Aemyr sat heavily upon his Throne, his visage appearing weary as he listened on to the drones of countless petitioneers. He grimaced at the thought of having to endure another uneventful Courtly session, his fingers drumming upon the throne impatiently. Nevertheless, disregarding such thoughts, the young man effectively and diligently carried out his duty, dealing with the many issues of his complaining nobility, and the qualms of the peasantry. His interest would change however, as he spots a man dressed in the fashion a Numerian Scholar would typically be wearing. With an eyebrow raised the King receives entertaining news - court is quickly dismissed and the scholarly man is brought quickly to the King’s own office, at which point discussions broke out between the two, as if they were excited children. A breakthrough in history had been made by a Numerian Scholar; for the past centuries, the people of Numeria had been struggling in the dark in regards to their past as a result of the Symonian Empire’s collapse, now they may uncover the truths to many wonderful things with just a singular map. Oddly enough, the Numerians are situated upon what is believed to be the Imperial Crownland of Symon, a peculiar location, since it was popularly believed that ancient Numerians were mistreated by their Symonian overlords in the past. From the King’s perspective and the knowledge he had of basic history, he was unable to make sense out of anything from the document, it was an accepted fact that the Numerians had inhabited the Lake of Lyria, the Well of Eternity, since time immemorial these silver haired people lived in these forests. A confusing factor to think about, for too arduous for the King to even grasp with all his current duties, he therefore issues his newly acquainted Scholarly friend to form a Society regarding the research of ancient history upon the matters of Numerian Origins and Imperial Symonian knowledge. 4. THE KINGDOM OF NUMERIA The Royal Era of Aemer, A.E 400 (Year 1500) The Royal Palace of Namyr, situated within the City of Lyria upon the Well of Eternity. To manifest a destiny into reality Aemyr gazed over the waters of Lyria from his perching spot upon the Tower of Tymer in the Namyrian Palace - he watched on with interest as the Lyrian Sentinels begun their nightfall duties. The young monarch was always fond of seeing the Sentinel outposts set their bonfires alight along the Lyrian coastline ever since he was a child. The desolate Tower gave Aemyr peace in his mind, being unbothered by his princely duties as he would laze around watching the Well of Eternity shine vibrantly once the stars come out. But, now ever since he had come of age, he was a monarch, and had to act as such. Aemyr felt an intense responsibility to his people as a King, having inherited the namesake of Aemyr the Unifyer, the first King of Numeria, he felt that his duty was to bring about a new Golden Age, one to surpass all others since the Kingdom’s Four-Hundred year long existence. No longer would the Numerians shackle themselves to their forests, they would burst onto the world stage, claiming their rightful spot in history. And so, as if casting aside his childish youth, Aemyr stepped down from his window, turning his back upon his attachment to the Well of Eternity, and casting his gaze towards the future. To go East, one must first go West The Royal Council of Eight had been unanimous in the agreeance of the King’s ambitions, they would facilitate the bud of such plans - the plans were to head eastward, from where their ancestors had come from 700 years ago, reclaiming their birthright and carving out an Empire from the ruins of the elder one, bringing prosperity to those they believed to be beneath themselves. To undertake such a vast Campaign, the Kingdom must first be secured from any threat. The past several centuries had given way to the rise of several neighbouring powers, some even contesting the ownership of the Roots of the World with their mere presence. The vast mountain range was seen as a paternal figure for the Numerians, believing it to contain part of the God of Element’s Fire Spirit deep within, while the Lake of Lyria, known in ancient tongue as the Well of Eternity, containing the Spirit of Water. To let others and their Gods tarnish such locations would be a travesty to the Rule of the Namyrian Monarchs, and so, the preliminary plans for conquering and expansionism were laid down. The Southern Capital of the Kingdom, Tyria, would see an increase in military presence as the bulk of the Royal Army would be maneuvering itself into position to claim the vast forests west of the Dewanti River. From there, if the Elements willing, they would sweep over the Carrow Lords, claim their land and people as their own and continue northward to the Herzakan in a clockwise fashion, securing the base of the Mountains. Diplomats are sent out in droves to those in range of Numerian Influence, attempting to open up lines of dialogue with one another. Primarily, they wish to introduce foreign commerce and trade into the previously closed-off and xenophobic forest-dwellers, stimulating the economy for greater height. The Kingdom of Fyr-Darrick is notably excluded from this initiative, the Numerians unsure of what to make of those from the Green Throat, a forest they have had thought to be even more hostile than their own. After fleeing from their original homeland bordering the Maw of the World, and then making the crossing of the Sumaq Desert, they stumbled across the Dawenti River and attempted to continue westward. The Roots of the World stopped any hope of the Numerians being able to flee Naros, too ragged to attempt a crossing, or navigating around it, the bulk of the refugees settled upon an ample patch of land near a Lake that could come to be known as Lyria. The three century after settling proved to be disastrous period in time for the Numerians. The original crossing over the Duwenti River fractured bands of people from one another, but as they entered the forests and met the Roots of the World, they too would settle down but away from the rising central authority of the Numerian settlers on Lake Lyria. Tensions rose as the inhabitants of Lyria saw themselves as the rightful rulers of all Numerians, and sought to rule over them all, leading to conflicts, skirmishes and wars. Distinct subcultures would form during this Era as opposing Numerians would attempt to differentiate from one another, leading to an even greater distance in relations. It was during these times that the Dynast, Namyr came into fruition, led by their Patriarch Aemyr. Now widely considered to be a legendary near mythical figure in history for the Numerians, Royne was the founding father of the modern people. It is said that after receiving a prophetic revelation, he went on a quest to unite all the people under one, one by one the settlements that had begun to form outside the influence of Lyria began to surrender to his Campaigns. In reality, the man simply excelled at the arts of warfare and had ambitions he wished to fulfill, leading to the complete unification of all Numerians. For the next 400 years, the House of Namyr would rule the Kingdom through peace and turmoil, all the way to the present day. With their reign now solidified permanently, the Namyrian Monarchs may now look outward, towards expansion and foreign politicking. The Great Fleeing - Numerian Expedition Westward 750 years ago - The Numerians flee Naros, attempting to reach the Green Throat but stop their expedition upon being blocked by the Roots of the World. 700 years ago - The City of Lyria is founded upon a Lake named the same. It now serves as the Capital of the Numerians. 650 years ago - The Era of Conflict begins, a 200 year long period of war begins. Distinct bands of Numerians seek total domination over one another. 600 years ago - The City of Lyria is sacked by a band of Numerians at the South of the Roots of the World, they originally intended to occupy it, but failed to wrest control from its inhabitants that prevailed. 550 years ago - The Era of Conflict continues, with many cities falling and rising. Lyria continues to hold strong, but is checked always by a Coalition of nearby Cities that sought to withheld Lyrian Influence. 500 years ago - An ambitious lord from the southern reaches of the Numerian forests rises up and invades near half of the traditional Numerian territory. He is however incapable of breaching Lyrian, as the City had formed a Federation of Cities that checked his advance northward, a stalemate ensues, but the forest is now split between two significant Numerian Nations. The Conquering Lord forms the Tymerian Dynasty, and his own lineage, which would continue to harass their northern kin. 450 years ago - The House of Namyr comes into power in the City of Lyrian, having occupied it after a bloodless coup. A continued stalemate persists between the Federation and the Tymerian Holdings. 420 years ago - The birth of the legendary Aemyr Royne, the man destined to unify the Numerians. 400 years ago - The War of Reunification begins. At the head of his northern Federation, Aemyr begins a large scale campaign southward into Tymerian Territory. A spectacular display of military prowess, Aemyr defeats his foe Tymar IV at the Battle of Shadows at the Roots of the World. Following such, the Tymarians fold, but instead of executing their Dynasty as would be customary, Aemyr marries into it as a way to secure relations between the two powers. The beginning of the House of Royne-Tymar. Aemyr is coronated as the first King of all Numerians and enters a Golden Age. 350 years ago - Aemyr passes due to natural causes. His Kingdom had been molded into his image, and his heirs had been rightfully groomed for rule. The prosperity brought upon by Aemyr continues into his heir’s rule, Laemyr. But with such a persistent era of untold wealth and comfort, keen observers can witness the beginning of it all falling apart. 330 years ago - Laemyr was a worthy King, but a poor father and husband. His interests were dedicated to that of ensuring the Numerians are properly assimilated into one cohesive Kingdom. His sons were left to toil amongst themselves within the decadent splendours of the Lyrian Palace, which led to distasteful traits forming within his offsprings. He dies unexpectedly, having been killed in a stumble upon one of his Palace’s Stairwells, the impact of falling cracking his neck. A tyrant takes his place, his son, Laemyr II. 320 years ago - After a reign of cruelty and malice, Laemyr II is deposed in a well calculated armed rebellion that saw the Capital of Lyria set on fire, killing most of its inhabitants. From the lineage of the ancient Tymarian Lords, Tymar V is coronated as the Monarch of All Numerians, but a period of unease commences as the people of the Kingdom saw the descendants of Aemyr as the rightful ruler. Subterfuge and court intrigue take a hold of the nation, and stagnancy soon follows. 300 years ago - An opportunistic Namyrian Prince announces his claim to the Kingdom and raises a massive army. He is coronated as Aemyr II and proceeds to march onto the Capital. He virtually wiped out the Tymarian Army set against him and proved victorious during the conquering of Lyria. He orders for the extermination of the Tymarian Dynasty and reforms the Nymar Dynasty, claiming to inherit the Will of Aemyr the Unifyer. 240 years ago - Aemyr II passes away, having ruled the longest out of any Numerian Monarchs at this point. His rule emphasized upon the matters of religion, constructing many great temple, wayshrines and ensuring religious fidelity throughout his Kingdom, at the cost of many other fields of importance. His reign is nonetheless stable and earns himself the moniker of Aemyr the Holy after his death. His son, Daemyr assumes control of the Empire. 230 years ago - While a generally peaceful reign, Daemyr proved to be incapable of siring any offsprings, leading an unstable succession crisis upon his death. Before he could remedy such issues by declaring an heir of his choosing, he is assassinated at his dining table, killed by a glass of poisoned wine. The War of Brothers begin 200 years ago - The War ravaged the Kingdom as several Namyrian Princes were propped up in attempt to claim the throne during this 30 year period. It was at this point the Council of Eight gained prominence, successfully ensuring the safety of the Capital as the Princes slaughtered one another in Grand Battles upon the countryside. One Prince would eventually dominate the rest and proclaim himself Aemyr III, he is however, too exhausted and feeble and the Council continues to reign in his stead. 180 years ago - Aemyr III passes away earning himself the moniker of Aemyr the Worthy, his heir, Daemyr II inherits the Kingdom, but his rule is mostly controlled by the Council of Eight. Despite such, Daemyr proved to be a content moderate ruler, satisfied with ruling only figuratively as he spent his affairs with family and doing what he wishes. The Council, though corrupt to some extent with acts of swindling, extortion and frauds being present, are nevertheless capable rulers of the Kingdom, ensuring realm wide stability. 150 years ago - Daemyr II passes peacefully, his designated heir Taemyr inherits the Kingdom. Taemyr proved to be a technological innovator, ambitious projects were carried out as roadways, dams and much more were constructed or improved upon. His love for construction would proved fatal though, as his coffers ran dry, he garnered loans from the Eight Members of the Council. 140 years ago - The accumulated debt of the Kingdom eventually brought down Taemyr, in a show of force for those involved, the Monarch was killed off in a discreet manner, publicly stated as an incident, only few knowing of the Council of Eight’s involvement. He earns the moniker of Taemyr the Builder. Taemyr II inherits the Kingdom from his Father, but is placed under heavy pressure from the Council. 110 years ago - The Council of Eight had twisted into a corrupted entity, siphoning from the life out of the Kingdom in their quest for complete domination. In the past, the Eight figures of the Council worked together in conjunction to ensure they checked each other’s growth, but the Manager of Finances saw himself delusioned with grand ideals, wishing to sit himself on the Throne. Taemyr II is killed in a poorly executed Palace Coup, making the Finance Manager the occupant of the Throne, but failed to eliminate the other Councillors. The Council War begins. 100 years ago - Amidst the chaos of the War, a young Namyrian Prince rose to power, leading a formidable Coalition of Loyal Lords. Proclaiming himself to be Aemyr the Unifyer reborn, he takes the mantle of Aemyr IV, and proceeds to lead a dominating campaign against the other Councillors, executing them one at a time until he reaches Lyria. The Capital is razed during the attempt to capture it, but the Prince does eventually capture it, executing the entirety of the ruling class within it. 60 years ago - Aemyr IV is successfully in his attempts to solidify the Kingdom. He undergoes the process of reforming the Kingdom into a proper nation, life standard rises and taxes are eased. Most notably, the Capital is rebuilt into new splendour. His heirs are groomed for perfection alongside with the advent of Royal Academies, sites of learning for those of the privileged classes of the Nation. The King dies of natural causes, earning the moniker of Aemyr the Reformer. His heir, Daemyr III inherits the Kingdom. 40 years ago - Daemyr III, while not revolutionary in his rule, proved to be wonderful Monarch. His reign was spent mostly on solidifying what his father had begun. He lived a long a fruitful life, full of security for the future and joy. He passes away peacefully, earning the moniker of Daemyr the Good. His heir, Baemyr, inherits the title of King. 10 years ago - Baemyr was a peculiar King, by Nymarian standards. His attention was spent mainly focused upon the machinations of this world, his curiosity having no bound as he would delve into the Royal Libraries for days in his quest for knowledge. Occasionally he would be sent out by his wife to behave like a King, which ensured the continued stability of his Realm, but usually he would never be seen for days outside of his Palace. He would die unexpectedly in an explosion that destroyed the tallest tower in the Lyrian Palace, it is said that an alchemical concoction went awry and obliterated the King. He is known posthumously as Baemyr the Scholar. His son, Baemyr II would inherit the Throne. 5 year ago - Baemyr II was a slothful King, he cared not for the matters of his Kingdom, and interested himself mostly with the matters of hunting. On one such fateful day, Baemyr was gored to death upon a boar’s tusk after missing his strike. His reign was considered as unremarkable, with nothing much occuring. He earned the moniker of Baemyr the Hunter. His child heir would inherit the Throne, known as Aemyr V but would be placed under a Regency led by the child’s Mother. The Empire’s attitude towards the affairs of magic proved arduous for the Numerians as they would be oppressed and shunned for being sub-humans. Such treatment would impede the process of the Human Numerians converting entirely into Humagis, but certain traits still persist. A typical Numerian would boast natural hair colored silver, with their eyes being that of purple. In recent history, a merger with a lesser branch of Numerians, the Tymarians, would introduce more dark-haired genes into the Numerians, nevertheless the white haired denizens of Numeria are still dominant. Their lifespan is increased only minorly, the large amount of mana flowing through their blood permitting them at best an additional decade. Societal Livelihood is still dominated by the affairs of Feudalism within Numeria. A system of serfdom still persists, in which one’s life is dominated by their designated landed-lord. Religion still plays a key role in Numerian life, having worshipped a Pantheon of Gods for near a millenia - at first done so discreetly as the Symmonian Empire would not tolerate such. The influence of the Faith itself is checked by the Royal Faction though, preventing such a religion from militarizing itself and garnering any major political influence, a balance in power that has persisted for centuries now. See Global Naval Census Documents for Austrian Navy Count. IMPERIAL STATE OF AFFAIRS Civilian Affairs The Scientific Circles of the Empire have been longing for a breakthrough in the field of telecommunications for years now, having been ordered originally to develop a sophisticated device capable of instant communications between units on a battlefield. The advent of such a tool being successfully tested piqued the interest these Scientists, the University of Budapest formally requested for a model to be replicated and imported to them, at whatever cost they wish to set it for. Further efforts are spent towards containing and identifying the early symptoms of the Dutch Flu on a microscopic scale. A National Health Safety Bill is passed through, enforcing intense hygiene care throughout the Empire in order to combat the spread of the Flu. Instead of attempting to reverse-engineer the Mk I Tank, it is replicated on a rudimentary scale multiple times over, and used for target practise and experiments for anti-tank weaponry. Whatever the results may be of such testing, appropriate improvements are made upon the current weapons and the tactics used to take out a Tank. The original retrieved vehicle is being held under close guard in a factory somewhere in the Empire. A new term is coined, Endsieg. The Emperor makes a passionate speech which is redistributed throughout the Empire on paper and telegrams - highlighting the righteousness of the Empire and the motives of their treacherous foes, the charming monarch hopes for his feelings to be replicated throughout his subjects as he struggles to ensure the Empire does not splinter apart. Despite all different in culture and blood, the people of the Empire are united under one banner that will lead them to outstanding prosperity should they persevere. Undeniable evidence has been procured in regards to the affect the female populace of the Empire has had during this war - from taking up positions in Industrial Sectors, to frontline nurses, it becomes harder and harder to deny a woman’s right to complete universal right as they keep the Empire afloat. Therefore, a motion to secure complete Women’s Rights is passed throughout the Parliaments of the Empire in attempts to further fuel the war effort by bolstering the spirits of the common populace. Military Affairs In order to alleviate the pressure put upon their Greek Ally, another Grand Offensive is called for - this time directed towards the rear of the Serbian Kingdom. Near 2 million personnels have been observed partaking in this Campaign as they are expected to roll over the meager Serbian defensive line in the region. As the Red Baron wrecks havoc throughout the Bohemian Airspace, a special unit of designated Aces from the Italian Front is formed. They are tasked specifically with hunting down aircrafts painted red throughout the region with impunity, utilizing whatever resources they can acquire in their path from all military elements. Attempting to overwhelm the now chaotic Italian State, the Austrian Army spares no expense in a combined assault of outstanding proportions. An offensive in the North through the Alps, a spearhead through Isonzo once more, and the Expeditionary Army razing the South. The Expeditionary Army in Lecce, Italy was now in their favoured theater of war. The clouds turn black as the army razes the landscape with a savage tenacity, driving every last Italian in the region to their death in a genocidal quest for revenge. Army Surveyors are shipped throughout the Bohemian Frontline to ensure the stability and effectiveness of the current fortifications and trench lines. Should a flaw be observed, it is designated for reinforcing and upgrading. Should the Germans continue to hold back their offensives, the Austrians would continue using their several million strong infantry presence to continue bulking up the defenses. Godwin von Brumowski, Hauptmann of Fliegerkompagnie 1 Foreign Affairs With diplomacy failing with every nation the Austrian Emperor has attempted to open dialogue with, he resolves himself to carve out his destiny alone with his Greek Ally, the two nations against seemingly insurmountable odds. Relations with said Nations sour considerably further than what it was already at before. With France now reforming itself competently, trade with the rest of the world is intricately funnelled in through the Swiss Alps and into the Empire’s interior regions. Specifically, a peculiar French weapon is stowed away into Imperial Arms, the Jagdkommando now boast a formidable tool. Imperial Academies fawn over the revolutionary weapon, forming their own prototype based on the French model, the ‘Hellriegel’. IMPERIAL ACTIONS Contact is established with the Continental Adventure Company in attempts to acquire one of the radios that the Austrians had previously attempted to pioneer. Continued efforts to quell the Dutch Flu. As the infected population dies out and leaves no room for the disease to spread, the Government enforces strict and intense health hygiene standards. The newly acquired Mk I Tank is replicated into rudimentary copies, used for testing and experiments in the field of anti-armor equipment and tactics. The original copy being tucked away safely. Endsieg is declared. A state of ultimate victory for the United Kingdoms of Austria is to be the only expected outcome of this war. The Emperor puts his own two pieces into the fold. A motion for Women’s Universal Rights is passed as a reward and acknowledgment of their efforts. Special task force consisting of expert pilots and led by a rising ace, Godwin von Brumowski, is sent out to eliminate the Red Baron in Bohemia. Fortification Surveyors are tasked with the examination of Imperial Defenses on the Bohemian Front. Trade continues through the last bastion of neutral territory neighbouring the Empire. French equipment floods through Switzerland and into the hands of Imperial Infantry, specifically a new automatic weapon.
  8. Status of the United Kingdoms of Greater Austria: Total War Mobilization | 6 million men mobilized. Economy in continued total war production mode. See Global Naval Census Documents for Austrian Navy Count. IMPERIAL STATE OF AFFAIRS Civilian Affairs Continued sanitary efforts proceed to contain the Dutch Flu. The chase for a vaccine proved fruitless, so instead, the medical corps of the Empire continue the improvement of centers of health. Hospitals, clinics, and field-stations undergo continuous reforms from earlier in the year, working primarily on the separation of patients, cleanliness, and hygiene awareness. At this point, the Empire has nearly lost over 300k to the Flu, extreme care and attention was prevalent throughout the health sectors, bordering on paranoia. The German Tanks rolling over the Bohemian Front shocked the Austrian Command - rumors were had, but no distinct evidence was given as to what these machines really are. The Anti-Vehicle project is resumed, aimed at the development of counter-tactics and anti-tank weaponry. The Military Storages of Trieste are plundered under orders of the Imperial Army Banners, relocated elsewhere to further fuel the war efforts while the citizens of Trieste themselves are welcomed back with open arms into the Empire. The groundworks to establishing Trieste as an autonomous Imperial Free-City, beholden only to the Emperor himself are taken care of as they are eased back into the Empire. The Empire undergoes air raid drills in locations most affected by such actions. Structures are designated for safe-holds while hastily established anti-air defenses begin to retaliate. An in depth investigation into the matters of sophisticated anti-air weapons is taken. Military Affairs The entire eastern border is devoid of any signs of massive bodies of Infantry, only policemen remain to ensure the status of the border. Military Investigators would be able to detect the presence of nearly 6 Million Soldiers on the Western Front against the Germans, Italians, and the Serbians. As the statistics came pouring in, the Austrian High Command noticed the need to change Infantry Doctrines - Mass Infantry Assaults proved tumultuous, yet effective at times, but Trench Warfare proved even more so detrimental. As such, the Army undergoes a reform from the bottom up in order to improve matters as the war stalls during the Winter. Small squad based tactics are imposed, in alignment with platoon movements, and finish off with battalion maneuvers on the greater scale. Each man with a squad is given a specific purpose, while each squad is given a task within their platoon, which then fortifies the strength of the overall battalion in a cohesive, efficient, Austrian fighting machine. Convoys of Logistics Vehicles rush along to the frontlines as they provide the Infantry with the necessary materials for winter combat. From clothing, to building tools and materials, they begin the fortification of the entire frontline. Alongside the Convoys, Logistics Surveyors are sent out on mass to accurately describe the supplies situation for the frontline. Coastal Defenses begin construction in locations most in need of it. The 14in guns of the in construction Ersatz-Monarch Class Dreadnoughts are repurposed for the defense of the coastlines most ravaged by naval raids as the construction of these ships are proven to be impossible due to the constant raids. Foreign Affairs Austrian Operators infiltrate into the Kingdom of Bavaria through the Swiss-German Border. Their objective is to set up a foundation for further operations within the region, and to get in touch with the King himself while keeping their presence unknown to the German High Command. Imperial Diplomats attempt to garner the attention of the Russian Union, hoping to strike out a deal with the Capitalists. IMPERIAL ACTIONS Continuing to contain the Dutch Flu. No more attempts to develop a cure. Development of anti-armor tactics and anti-tank weapons. Trieste Naval Yards plundered. Trieste becomes an Imperial Free-City. Air-Raid Drills become a norm. Anti-Air, specifically Anti-Zeppelin weaponry, is looked into. Stationing all able-bodied men onto the western front. Infantry Reformation. Improved Infantry Assault Doctrines emplaced. See Global Naval Census Documents for Austrian Navy Count. IMPERIAL STATE OF AFFAIRS Civilian Affairs The loss of nearly the entire Expeditionary Army in Corsica due to the plague, shook the Empire’s ruling class to its core. Not only did it strengthen the war effort against, it also spread greater awareness of the ravenous plague. Quarantine zones are established throughout the Empire in locations with a high concentration of those infected and field hospitals are established to control the spread of disease. A state-run campaign is carried out, showing off the threat of the Dutch Flus and the ways to prevent catching it. Proper sanitary standard is now enforced in any positions directly related to the Government, while private civilian sectors are requested to follow suit. The now dedicated fighter model airplane undergoes more design inventions and attempted improvements. The primary goal of such efforts is to construct an aircraft capable of tackling the high altitudes of the Alps. Dozens of prototypes classed as Aero A.18s are built in the industrial zones of Bohemia and shipped off to the Carpathians for testing and training. Increased fuel capacity, oxygen masks, firefighting equipment are just some of the many things worked into the prototypes. Military Affairs The Military undergoes a massive inspection of its troops as it attempts to clamp down on the spread of the Dutch Flu. Greater sanitary awareness is enforced throughout the ranks to ensure the risk of rising again does not occur. Soldiers displaying symptoms of the disease are rotated out of service and quarantined, replaced by those still healthy. A notable portion of infantry can be seen reposition themselves from the Eastern borderlands of the Empire as they make their way to the heart of the conflict, in Italy. The Falkenhayn plan is put into motion as another grand offensive into Italy commences. An operation in the millions of soldiers as they attempt to breach through the lightly fortified Italian ranks and march on Rome itself. Continued efforts into the construction of the Ersatz-class Dreadnoughts continue in the Port of Rijeka since they had to be relocated due to the Sale of Trieste to the Italian Nation a few years back. Four new modern dreadnoughts will sail the seas within a years time, should the construction efforts continue smoothly. A higher concentration of military vessels patrol around the Croation Isles near Rijeka, ready to lay waste to any Italian Ships that may dare sail near. The besieged City of Trieste is issued an offer for surrender. It would be spared the destruction that war brings with it and would find with a far greater range of autonomy should they submit to the United Kingdom’s Will, as they would be reverted back into the status of an Imperial Free City. Foreign Affairs The declarations of war issued onto the Austrian ally, Greece, troubled some within the Empire - many felt honorbound to defend the Hellenic people, but the more sensible aristocrats saw the opportunity to knock out the Italian Threat alone. The Greeks would have to handle their own, but Austria would supply them with the battered expeditionary army fleeing Corsica as the fleet stations itself around the Island of Corfu off of the western Greek coast. IMPERIAL ACTIONS Things are done to combat the Dutch Flu The Fighter Plane successfully constructed last turn undergoes high altitude testing and general improvements. The military clamps down on those with the Dutch Flu, rotating them out with healthy new soldiers. Repositioning infantry to meet mobilized threats. Another offensive into Italy, spring edition. The four Ersatz-class Dreadnoughts are expected to be finished within a years time. An offer for surrender towards the City of Trieste is carried out. Player interactions.
  10. TO WAR! Once again, the United Kingdoms find themselves in a state of war. This time against the Italians, who, in an opportunistic fit, decided it was logical to attempt the takeover of the Corsican Isle. Failing to realize the lands to be occupied by Austrians soldiers under the name of Napoleon, the Italians have triggered an act of war against the Crowns of Austria - As such, an estimated three-hundred-thousand soldiers have been stranded on the Island itself, giving way for a knee jerk reaction from the Austrian High Command as it commands for the initiation of naval combat against the Italian Blockade. Back on the mainland, telegrams are sent back and forth across the Empire and the Greek Peninsula as plans are set into motions. The Italian actions had been a surprised one, no one within the Empire had thought them to have the audacity to engage Austrian Hegemony, but it was nevertheless a welcomed surprise - for it would procure the Imperial Crown the right to lay waste to the Italian Peninsula and their colonies. Usurping Italian influence in the Mediterranean would elevate the Austrians to a status unparalleled in the region, an opportunity they would not pass upon nor allow others to stop them. IMPERIAL STATE OF AFFAIRS Civilian Affairs The Empire reverts right back into a state of total war reminiscent of the Great War Era given the enemies they are suddenly up against. Conscriptions, propaganda and a complete industrial revitalization accompanies the Empire in its path to destroy their enemies. The Austrians pay no heed to the growing of the Dutch Plague, but given the state the Empire finds itself in, all borders to their neighbours have already been closed, inadvertently closing off any chance of widespread contagion. The various Aviation Academies throughout the Empire are presented with further funds to aid develop more sophisticated aircraft models to aid combat against their enemies. Primarily focused on the basic Fighter Model plane, they would attempt to improve various aspects of it, from the strength of the fuselage to increased fuel capacity. Prototypes would be constantly pumped out without regard as Engineers frantically attempt to figure out the intricacy of modernizing flight. Military Affairs The Imperial Armies of the United Kingdoms mobilize, ready to face the Italian Threat and any others that would attempt to intervene. Accompanying the rallying of the Reservists Armies, the Conscription Law is enacted, gathering several more millions civilians into the armies. These Conscripts, while being Veterans of the Great War, are nevertheless instructed in their entirety to begin basic combat training as they are stationed along the Empire’s demilitarized borders. A significant portion of mixed infantry is positioned against the German Empire as they take defensive measures, destroying rails, bridges and obstructing roads into the two nations on the borders. Guns open fire upon the Alps in Tyrol as the Austrians begin their combat maneuvers in the Alpine Region. Accompanying such an Offensive, another army is dispatched to retake Trieste and any other regions sold off during the Great War as a massive Imperial Force begins to invade the Friuli-Venezia Giulia borderlands. [Warplans] An army is directed to the Serbian border to man the defenses previous built and if needed, expand on them to better suit the need of the army. The Navy having already been fully mobilized engages the Italian Navy immediately in the regions around Corsica, Sicily and the Adriatic, the Greek Navy coming to aid soon after. A sizable portion of the Navy engages the concentrated Italian Blockade of Corsica. Foreign Affairs The Austrian Crown states its intention to seek retribution against the Italians transgressions. Austrian had been pulled into the French conflict through means of marriage and alliance, but the fascist blacks of Italy had thought themselves to be above others and attempted to steal even more land from an enemy they had already carved up with their allies during the Great War. The Central Powers are instructed to not participate against the Austrians and should they agree, the Austrians would take no offensive measures against them. Aiding the Italians in their unjust and unworthy war would simply put the Centrals onto the laughing stock pedestal. Nevertheless, preventive measures are taken - portions of the Imperial Armies are stationed upon their borders to help deter any attempts to invade. Though done sooner than anticipated, the Austrians announce their cooperation with the Kingdom of the Greeks - The Twin Alliance is formed in order to aid each other combat mutual enemies. Given the state of the Greek Peninsula, foreign advisers of all kinds are shipped to the Greeks in order to aid them in their Hellenic Revival of their People. IMPERIAL ACTIONS Total War policies are enacted. Borders are on lock-down and any shipments coming into the Empire resourced-based. Hopefully inadvertently lessening the impact of the Dutch Flu. Those already infected with the disease would be treated normally and quarantined in portions of their designated Hospitals. Fighter aircrafts prototypes are pumped out on mass as they attempt to improve upon the current models. The Armies are mobilized, supplemented by their Reservists and Conscripts. The Conscript Armies undergo basic training as they’re based out on the borders away from potential fighting. A sizable portion is kept on the German border. These include the borders under Russian Influence. A massive Austrian Offensive floods towards the Italian border, estimated in the millions. They use the improved railways and infrastructure to mobilize at a pace the Austrians have never seen before, quickly attempting to overwhelm any sort of Italian Border Defense. The North faces a different kind of battle if the Italians contest the control of the Alpine Range. Mountaineering brigades are sent out to secure the mountains and defend the choke-points throughout the region. The already mobilized Austrian Navy begins the immediate engagement of any Italian ships in the mediterranean. Player interactions.
  11. Corsica, France, 1918 The Port of Ajaccio bustled with activities as thousands flooded its streets - the Austrian High Command, in conjunction with the Napoleonic Loyalists, established the Isle of Corsica to be its staging point in their effort to spearhead a new front through the South of France. The Army was specifically segregated from the native citizenry, positioned off to the eastern portion of the Town - military elements established their bases and built up their own infrastructure to further ease the issue of logistical transport. Off the coast of Ajaccio, the majority of the Austrian Navy lay in waiting while the remainders continue patrolling the shipping lanes as they guard the ferrying of the infantry vessels from Croatia to France. The finest of the Empire had been assembled into an Expeditionary Army under the behest of the Emperor, led by Conrad von Hotzendorf, they were dispatched from the Ports of Imperial Croatia, and ferried over to Corsica. Specialized aspects of the army began establishing a headquarters for the monitoring of all military activity within France as the rest of the Army sailed forth for the French Port of Perpignan. In Vienna, an International News Conference is held as the Austrians present to the reporters and media aspects of those who chose to attend such an event. Snippets from the Conference are found below. “The British and the German Empires had broken the Treaty of Vichy by declaring war on one of the French political entities; therefore, in order to protect our own interests within the region, we do duly notify the leaders of world of our intentions.” “The United Kingdoms of Greater Austria does hereby announce the solidification of the Habsburg-Bonaparte Alliance. And from hereafter, announce the following; THE UNITED KINGDOMS OF GREATER AUSTRIA, IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE WILL OF NAPOLEON THE FIFTH, DECLARES ITSELF TO BE IN A STATE OF WAR AGAINST THE REPUBLIC AND SOCIALIST ASPECTS OF THE FRANKISH PEOPLE.” IMPERIAL STATE OF AFFAIRS Civilian Affairs Daily life continues as normal within the Empire, despite it announcing to be in a state of war. The Imperial Government had not called upon any special conscription laws, or has demanded for increased military production quotas. As it seems, the people of the Empire have been acting impartially to it, with the war being so far-flung with only a small portion of the population partaking in it actively, there seemed to be no worries about it. In response to the protests carried out by Socialist and Democratic elements of the Empire, the House of Lords concedes partially. Publicly announced, the Imperial House of Common is to undergo a reconstructing to better represent the common citizenry of the Empire in the coming years. Accompanying such efforts, the Council takes heed to the various political blocs demands for expanded industrial projects. A series of calculated subsidization projects are initiated throughout Bohemia and Slovakia as the Council attempts to improve the Industrial Facilities of these locations. A maximum of eight hours is established for work-shifts for those within the industrial departments of the Empire, working any further pass such would entitle the worker to overtime pay. The Emperor’s Will is made clear to his Parliament as he forces through a new reform. The educational system for the common people of the Austrian Empire is henceforth nationalized under the Imperial Parliament. The payments of teachers, their utilities and staff are subsequently subsidized by the State as the Parliament proceeds with the construction of new schools or the expanding of current ones. Each school within the Empire are required to teach basic German to all their students, as well as having to sing the anthem of both their respective Kingdom and the Empire itself among many other things, in order to propagate the ideals of the Austrian Empire into the minds of the young. Military Affairs The majority of the Imperial Army is demobilized on the borders of Poland, Ukraine, Romania, and Serbia, leaving behind a 5 kilometre wide demilitarized zone. Specialized civilian contractors are commissioned in order to replace the departing army elements that were constructing the defensive systems on the borders, they continue the construction efforts. Detachment of military personnels remain on the border still, but mostly as patrol forces, and checkpoint guards - they operate on a rotation pattern, the soldiers being replaced by new ones every 3 months. An Expeditionary Army formed mainly around Austrian-speaking soldiers is dispatched to the French War in order to aid their Napoleonic Allies. They base their offensive into Republican France on the isle of Corsica. The economy returns back to the civilian quarter as the need for it lessens. A student organization from the Imperial War Academy of Prague attempts to minimize the size of a common artillery piece in order to counter the growing threat that is armored vehicles. Various diagrams and blueprints have been designed, but have not yet come into fruition as they attempt to figure out the intricacy of such a weapon. Foreign Affairs The Imperial Ships that had taken residence in the Dalmatian Ports under Serbian control vacate the area. Leaving the Serbians no explanations as the Navy strikes out into the open sea. Supplies built up for the Invasion of Romania are redirected straight back to the Monarchist-coalition of France. Hoping to aid in alleviating any issues they may have. Foodstuff, industrial resources, and much more other miscellaneous goods. The construction of the Berlin-Baghdad Railway in Austrian Territory is stopped entirely by force of arms as the Austrian Special Gendarmerie force foreign workers to take an indefinite pause. A statement is issued, directed towards the Ottomans - it instructs them to retract their Condemnation of Austrian Politics, failure to doing so will result in their workers being deported, and the initiation of the dismantling of the Berlin-Baghdad Railway in Austrian territory. IMPERIAL ACTIONS The House of Bonaparte and the House of Habsburg undergo a union of marriage as they solidify their Alliance. Subsequently, now allied to the Monarchist elements of France, the Austrian Empire pledges its military to support the newfound rebellion, its troops landing on the shores of southern France. Promises of reforms are publicly stated in regards to the state of the House of Commons. The Imperial Parliament had not been able to keep up with the Empire’s upheaval and was therefore thrown into chaos, an issue made apparent to the Imperial Council. Though not confirmed, it is rumored that each of the Kingdoms will have their own Parliaments spoken in their own native tongue that would best represent the issues of the common people of the various ethnicities of the Empire. In order to further progress the industrialization of the Empire, a series of subsidizing projects are carried out in the regions of Bohemia and Slovakia. Aiming to expand and improve upon the currently established industrial sectors, they will be able to open up thousands of jobs for those unemployed, while improving the capacity of materials being manufactured. Work shifts are now set at a maximum of eight hours per day throughout the Empire for those working within the Industry. Employees may be instructed to work pass such hours, but are now entitled to overtime payment. An educational reform is passed, enforced by the Emperor. Schools are now nationalized, their progress subsidized by the State. It intricately begins to indoctrinate the growing minds of the Empire, attempting to teach both loyalty, and ingenuity - a greater sense of purpose for all. The armies deployed to the Empire’s borders are demobilized, leaving behind them a demilitarized zones. Civilian traffic between the designated neighbouring regions are off-limit, those attempting to do such are imprisoned, fined and returned back to their respective locations. Students from the Academy of Prague lead the Empire’s efforts in attempting to develop sophisticated and improved anti-armor weapons. Their current project is the attempting of minimizing artillery weapons in order to provide improved maneuverability while developing precise and powerful punching power, the model for such attempts is based off the 7 cm Gebirgsgeschütz M 99, a mountain gun capable of being dismantled and reassembled quickly. Imperial Ships leave the Serbian owned Dalmatian Ports. Tasked with the assistance of the operational maneuvers into the French theater of war. Supplies that were designated to assist in the Invasion of Romania are redirected to Napoleonic forces in France in attempts to alleviate their logistical needs. The Berlin-Baghdad Railway is stopped indefinitely, the reasoning being that Austria demands the Ottoman Empire to retract their condemnation. They threaten to dismantle the entire portion of railway in Imperial Territory if they are rebuffed.
  12. Imperial Palace, Vienna, 1918 “Our concerns about Romania are reaffirmed, with the Russian declaring they will support Romanian Independence, it is clear that despite calling for neutrality, it was actively aiding the Entente that invaded our homeland and killed our people. Now is the time for retribution. If the Russians wish to break the peace between our two nations, they may, and as a result, face the ire of this entire region, for it will plunge us all into chaos.” “And to even think that our fair ally, the Kingdom of Serbia would favor their idea for a pan-Slavic state over their brothers in arms. While we fought on the front lines together, what was Romania doing for Serbia? Supplying the enemies of our nations is what they were doing, actively participating in the killing of our populace! The Romanian Dog must be put down! After a fair bit of discussions, the Councillors settled down, ending their conference with the following. “Operation Falk has been expanded to the entirety of our borders in line with, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, and Serbia.” ----------------------------------- At a later date in the year, a grand assembly had been called forth to Vienna, consisting of the entirety of the Imperial Nobility and much more, it would be a day that would make history, the Emperor himself having been designated as the fore-speaker. “Despite the growing hostilities on all our front, I do see fit to announce and enforce the following; the revolutionary reform that will grant our Empire the ability to seize absolute power and project strength at a considerable level.” “His Imperial Majesty does hereby declare to all, the reformation of the Empire of Austria-Hungary! No longer shall we toil amongst ourselves and feud and bicker, let us rejoice at the coming of the reformed, UNITED KINGDOMS OF GREATER AUSTRIA.” Coronation ceremonies are initiated throughout the Empire as the selected few are elevated to the ranks of monarchs, lavish occasions and projection of power in which the Imperial State funds partly. The following monarchs are the legitimate rulers of their nations, beholden only to the Imperial Crown itself; His Royal Majesty, the King of Galicia, Louis Leopold Poniatowski. Under his jurisdiction, the Polish people of Greater Austria. His Capital, Krakow. His Royal Majesty, the King of Lodemaria, and Grand Duke of Bukovina, Myron Tarnavsky. Under his jurisdiction, the Ruthenian and Ukrainian people of Greater Austria. His Capital, Lviv. His Royal Majesty, the King of Bohemia, Alois Lexa von Aehrenthal. Under his Jurisdiction, the Bohemian Czechs. His Capital, Prague. His Grace, the Grand Duke of Slovakia, Manfred von Clary-Aldringen. Under his Jurisdiction, the Slovaks of Slovakia. His Capital, Bratislava. Under direct jurisdiction of the Imperial Heartland, the Kingdom of Croatia and Duchy of Carniola. The Hungarian delegates are given time to settle amongst themselves the issue of selecting a monarch to serve their Kingdom. IMPERIAL STATE OF AFFAIRS Civilian Affairs The Emperor's trip around the Empire was no leisurely voyage, he had consolidated his control by visiting the estates of his key vassals throughout the Empire, and organizing them all together for the establishment of the United Kingdoms. The United Kingdom model closely follows the United States of America, although with a more Imperialistic fashion to it - it primarily focuses upon fixing the tensions between ethnicities in the Empire, by categorizing and properly representing them. The Emperor himself enforces the construction of the rail lines that was halted earlier this year, irritated that his vassals would oppose the connecting of the States. He uses whatever means necessary to eliminate the opponents towards such attempts, using coercion and Mexican gold to bribe officials. As sophisticated civilian vehicles hit the road, a series of infrastructural commandments are issued out and expected to be completed by the regional governments. Focusing primarily on expanding roads and establishing roadworks to isolated pockets of land in all Imperial Kingdoms. Despite leaving the Central Alliance, the Baghdad-Berlin Continental Railway continues construction through the lands owned by the Empire. Construction even being supplemented by Imperial work-crews. Auditioners from the Imperial Heartlands are sent out in droves to inspect the lands and its people in order to figure out what issues may plague the Empire during this time of hostilities. Military Affairs An increased amount of activity can be seen from the area of the Imperial Navy dockyards in the leased Dalmatian ports in Serbian Territory. The locations in which Austrian ships were designated to station at are now quarantined and do not permit any Serbian officials entry. While the newly established monarchs of the Empire settle in and shape their government up, the Austrian Gendarmerie continues the policing of the Emperor’s vassals territories in order to keep public order until the vassals establish their own effective police force. The entirety of the Imperial Standing Army is mobilized from their bases and shipped off on trains to their designated rallying points across the Empire’s borders. At which point, army engineers will initiate the construction of various defense networks. Utilizing their experience from the Great War with a mix of experimenting, the defenses would be formidable as they operate under peace time. Foreigners would be able to see recon balloons and blimps floating along the borders, and vast amounts of infantry constructing defenses, with Austrian air squadrons flying in formations high above. The Empire once again converts most of its economy to match a war-time pace - producing small arms in the thousands while working on a way to best streamline the production of artillery pieces and aircrafts. Foreign Affairs The newly reformed Empire now severs all diplomatic ties with the Central Powers Alliance, though commerce and economy shall still flourish between their nations freely, the Imperial Council sees no reason to continue having its destiny controlled by its former allies. Free trade is established between the State of Mexico and the United Kingdoms, primarily focused between the transfer of Austrian small-arms weaponry and ammunition, and Mexican exotic goods and gold. A series of telegrams are sent to the Sovereign of the Serbian Kingdom, instructing them to not partake in hostile actions towards the United Kingdoms of Austria should it ever come to such a situation. IMPERIAL ACTIONS The Austro-Hungarian Empire is reformed into the United Kingdoms of Greater Austria. Railway construction that was halted earlier in the year due to regional differences is enforced by show of force, bribery and coercion by the Emperor. The plan is to construct a sophisticated railway system that connects the major cities of the Empire as well as given way to military usage during mobilization. General roadworks continue throughout the Empire as it attempts to connect and improve the flow of traffic to even the most remote pocket of citizenry. Berlin-Baghdad Railway continues through the Empire without any hassle. Imperial Auditioners sent out to inspect the status of the Empire and its people in order to best pinpoint any issues that may be apparent. [Mod] The Navy based out of the leased dockyards in Dalmatia (Serbian Owned Territory) undergoes a lockdown, preventing any Serbian officials from entering, while minimizing their activities. Imperial Heartland Gendarmerie continues the policing of the Emperor’s vassals territories until they are capable of establishing themselves their own organizations. The entire standing army of the Empire is mobilized and stationed along the borders of the following countries, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, and Italy. Sophisticated defense systems are established wherever the army engineers go. The economy switches back to a war-time one, mass-producing the necessary tools required to maintain a war. Special equipment like artillery and aircrafts are experimented around with in order to best manufacture on-mass. Bunch of player interactment.
  13. “More?” complained Renhalt, as his helper Theo dumps more documents onto his desk. He groaned at the thought of having to sort through more papers while already being bogged down in enough of it already. “I need to hire more staff.” Nevertheless, he diligently penned responses back to the applicants. -------------------------------------- To all Applicants; Your application has been processed through the Guild and has been deemed acceptable to warrant an interview to be inducted in-person. Please make your way down to the Crossroad Tavern located within the Duchy of Adria, Belvitz and proceed to its second floor, where you will find a man bearing a cross upon his tabard. 14. THE EMPIRE OF AUSTRIA-HUNGARY TO MODERNIZATION! The Empire was blooming under the diligent rule of Franz Ferdinand. The coffers were filling up on Russian War Reparations, the Military was becoming increasingly competent and efficient, and the overall populace was optimistic for the times to come. Although a minor hiccup, Franz Ferdinand stood by his words when he meant the denunciation of Socialism. Though appearing lenient to some socialist ideals, the Emperor viewed the extremist form of Socialist Governance as a crime against humanity, in which one’s individuality is replaced by a machine like communalism. But all this time politicking within his Palace had strained Franz, as he appeared increasingly weary, his wife, Sophie the Duchess of Hohenberg, took notice. Prompting the Emperor to take a leave from it all just for a few months. Unable to resist his wife, Franz agreed to a tour of the Empire. Leaving his Prime Ministers in his stead, he struck out with a small detachment of Imperial Guards, taking his children and wife on the proposed trip throughout the Empire in a clockwork fashion. IMPERIAL STATE OF AFFAIRS Civilian Affairs As Woman’s Suffrage movements spill over from Germany and into the Empire, the Emperor and his Parliaments attempt to organize a proper response to such an ideal. To give Women equal rights on par with a Man’s would upset the status quo of Imperial Society, but it could also prove to be a boon to its various economies as Female workers flood into markets. Various legislatures are attempted to be passed through the House of Lords and House of Deputies in order to reorganize societal constrictions on the rights of Women, with Emperor Franz favouring establishing full rights for the Female gender. The introduction of exotic resources from Brazil take the Empire by storm. The Dual-Monarchy had never been able to strike out into the world and claim itself a place in the sun, which had restricted its access to acquire any sort of rare goods. Coffee and Cocoa drinks become highly popularized by both the bourgeoisie and the common citizens that can afford it; it's even said that some furniture in the Emperor’s Palace was outfitted with Brazilian Mahogany. The Imperial University of Scientific Advance continues its research into the matters of tele-communications. Hellbent on figuring out a way of improving the lines of telegrams around the Empire. Military Affairs Having understood the frustration that comes with mobilizing millions of troops throughout the Empire, the Imperial General’s Staff work under the Emperor’s Guidance a method of modernizing the Empire’s infrastructure. From establishing roads to far-flung reaches, to improving and expanding current railroads, the general goal of the objective is to improve the flow of Imperial Traffic, both in terms of military and civilian affairs. This initiative works in conjunction with the Berlin-Baghdad Continental Railway. Military spending this time of year around is spent mostly on the matters of Aviation. Some designated Academies that were previously established are now expanded with Aviation Schools, in which airborne doctrines are taught, improved upon, and drawn up. Pilots now enjoyed aviation on a leisurely level as they simulated dogfights and raced each other to designated checkpoints. A culture surrounding the matters of flight and aircrafts was forming around the various Academies as they begin to challenge each other to mock duels and races. Coming at a standstill with the matters of Specialized Infantry, the k.u.k. Generalstab opt out of such efforts in favour of focusing on the previously mentioned Aviations affairs. The Imperial Navy is dispatched from its ports in rotational patterns as they patrol its supply routes from the Adriatic to the Mediterranean tip of Gibraltar in order to keep it operational instead of having it rot away in its dockyards. Foreign Affairs Another bout of diplomatic conflict begins between Austria and Romania as the Emperor’s Parliaments accuse the Romanian National Government of funding extremists sects within the Empire during the Great War, as well as actively working with the Allied Forces despite claiming to be Neutral. The Austrian Parliament issues a demand of Reparation in order to repair the hypothetical damages that were incurred onto the Empire by Romania’s supposed clandestine activities. IMPERIAL ACTIONS Women's Suffrage gains tractions in the Empire due to the movement spilling over from Germany. The Imperial Councils begin to lay the groundworks to establish some sort of agreed upon Women’s Right. The Emperor being in favour of granting the Suffrage Movement its terms. The Empire’s infrastructure undergoes an intensive project of expansion and improvement The Imperial Military’s primary goal this time around is set upon the matters of Aviation, primarily the honing of the Pilot’s competence, with general aircraft improvements coming as a secondary thought. The Imperial Parliaments initiate another bout of diplomatic conflict against the Romanian Government, going as far as to demand a monetary sum as reparation for their supposed interference during the Great War. Telecommunications efforts continue as telegram outposts and lines are improved upon throughout the Empire. Methods are devised in order to figure out more effective ways to establish telegram lines to front-line units during wartime. Gott erhalte Franz den Kaiser
  15. I am not a fan of the Imperial Horenist Faction!

  19. The Varendozian Adventurer’s Guild The Varendozian Guild Headquarters, County of Auvergne, Ardes, 1647 History The Adventurer’s Guild was originally established in the encompassing wilderness of Varendoz, Aeldin. The Guild’s master, Renhalt started out as a coin for hire attempting to make a living off of the fruitful, and often daunting life of a beastmaster. A few years into his trade Renhalt came into the employ of Gawain d’Auvergne, an upstart Auvergnian noble from the crownlands. Renhalt and the few retainers in his employ were hired to slay a swamp drowner in the bog outside of Auvergne, but after seeing Renhalt’s efficient work Gawain decided to hire the beastmaster on a permanent basis. A few years down the line, with the wide scale corruption and infighting in Aeldin the two decided to depart to the newly established lands of Atlas, where they took up residence under Duke Ratibor Carrion in the Duchy of Adria. Two years into their stay in Atlas, Renhalt branched out from House d’Auvergne and started to map out the outlying wilderness of Adria, cataloging a plethora of flora and fauna new to the world. With the wide scale urbanization of the Duchy the forests began to shrink, stirring up many unruly creatures. More and more attacks began to plague the realm. Beasts such as gryphons, wraiths, liches and drakes had been seen in the mountains surrounding the area. With the increase in fatalities due to these creatures, Renhalt founded the Adventurer’s Guild inside the County of Auvergne, hoping to quell the onslaught of incidents. Mission Statement While the Guild’s main focus is to rid the world of unnatural threats, it does also attempt to preserve and maintain the current status-quo; only when a creature steps outside of its boundaries does the Guild see it necessary to involve itself. ________________ Guild Ranking Hierarchy Guild Master Incumbent: Renhalt Varen The Guild Master is tasked with the general overseeing and management of the Guild. Guild Vice-Master Incumbent: Gawain d’Auvergne The substitute Guild Master, capable of acting in the same authority as the Guild Master. Assumes total control of the Guild in the absence of its primary chief executive. Guild Clerks Men and Women of the Guild tasked with the overall organizing and dispatching of Adventurers to their appropriate Bounties and Requests. They are paid on an annual salary and cannot register to become Adventurers due to the potential of scheming and liability issues. ________________ The Adventurer’s Corp The ones tasked with carrying out the Guild’s primary reason of existence - the Adventurers. Responsible for delving into unknown wilderness, or scouring the depths of a long forgotten ruin. They are the front-line against the unnatural, paid contractors that protect the Realms of the Descendants. ________________ Carbarum-class Adventurer: The apex of their field, the Carbarum Adventurer is one who’s mettle has been tried and tested countless times. Unmatched by others in their field as distinguished monster hunters, they are tasked with contracts of extreme danger, but significant pay. Arcaurum-class Adventurer: Veterans of the Guild, Arcaurum Adventurers serve as figureheads for those of lesser rank, acting as captains on the field. Aurum-class Adventurer: The middle category, the Aurum-class is filled with standard issue Adventurers that have made monster hunting their primary way of life. Ferrum-class Adventurer: The regulars of the Guild, the Ferrum-class is the enlisted corp. These men have picked up the basic tenets of what it means to be an Adventurer but are not full-fledged members. Copper-class Adventurer: The introductory level of the Guild, these are the aspirants. New contacts and unindoctrinated members fall here. ________________ As it stands at this moment, Adventurers may only claim Bounties relevant to their class in order to best minimize damage, however, Adventurers may Party up with high-classed comrades. Guild Identification is required to be shown in order to process their Bounty through. In order for an Adventurer to be promoted within the hierarchy, they must have completed a certain amount of Bounties to what their class demands as well as having to complete a designated Bounty of their target class. And finally, they must fall in line to be analyzed by the Guild’s Own personnel. Code of Conduct While the Guild does not enforce these, every fledgling Adventurer should take these conducts to heart, to ensure a better working environment for everyone involved. One shall not assault another member during a contract. One shall not steal from another member during a contract. One shall not fabricate falsehoods about achievements. The Guild holds no issue with members having hostile relations with one another. It does request that Adventurers prioritize upon their contracts rather than one another. The Varendozian Abnormalities Registry The Guild’s documentation of creatures, monsters, and other hostile or abnormal beings found so far upon Atlas. These anomalous creatures are categorized into sections based upon their threat level; each section more dangerous than the other, with Carbarum ranking at the most extreme. ________________ Copper-class abnormalities: Feral Goblins (Cave Goblins) Vodniks Skeletons Zombies Descendants Ferrum-class abnormalities: Boggens Harpies Fiskmen Skelts Ratiki Drowners Aurum-class abnormalities: Venators Ents Gryphon Jabbernack Cockatrice Liches Trolls Arcaurum-class abnormalities: Basilisks Drakes Wyverns Giants Carbarum-class Abnormalities: PERMA-KILL CLAUSE NEEDED TO BE APPROVED FOR EACH BOUNTY OF THIS CLASS Creatures have yet to be discovered that are properly suited for this Class. With new discoveries being made everyday, the Guild is aware that their documentation will always remain incomplete. It therefore requests that anyone who has information upon new creatures, are to bring said information to any Guild official, to which they will be rewarded on a monetary basis based upon the significance of their discovery. ________________ !CAUTION! Adventurers should only be hunting down creatures and beasts that are of their own class. Upon completing the enrolling interviews and evaluation, the newly made Adventurer shall be given their registry form and a badge made of the materials based off of their rank. To get into contact with someone who can process an Application Interview, fill out the following letter and send it off to the County of Auvergne, to which you will be responded to as quickly as possible. Application for Interview Name: Race: Age: Discord#: ________________ DISENROLLMENT To withdraw membership from the Guild, one must locate the nearest official and issue a notification of resignation. 20. THE EMPIRE OF AUSTRIA-HUNGARY PEACE IN OUR TIME Imperial Armies parade throughout the Empire as the citizenry rejoice as The ‘Great’ War comes to an end; though it was relatively a stalemate, the Central Powers came out on top in regards to the Treaties signed at the Conference of Geneva. Though Austria itself did not play a major role in the Conference, its recent successes prior to the Armistice had proven itself to be a force to be reckoned with. Imperial Soldiery had retaken Galicia-proper and pushed deep into Ukraine and Poland, threatening to encircle Union Armies on both sides. The Imperial City of Lamberg was splendidly retaken, though much of it lay it ruined after the Operation was completed. Acceptable losses by all accounts, Imperial Credibility had been restored. Riding on this high of Imperial success, the newly crowned Emperor had free reigns to begin the restoration of his nation’s prestige and status among the world powers. Hungarians be damned, he would remake the Empire into the finest state it could ever be. IMPERIAL STATE OF AFFAIRS Military Affairs The Jagdkommando are refined. The Polish Front had provided the Austrian Military Command with the much needed information it required in order to further improve upon these specialized infantry units. Now dubbed Shocktroopers, these specialized infantry are now under strict standards, as the Austrians attempt to present the world with the finest troops the modern era has seen. Various Military Academies are constructed throughout the Empire, in locations such as Galicia, Hungary, and Bohemia - their progress subsidized by the Imperial Council as Russian War Reparations fill the Austrian Coffers. The Academies are tasked with the making of proper Imperial Officers, going as far as even having mandatory German Language classes, though the rest of their studies are in their own native tongues. Academies already established are improved further upon. All current Imperial Officers, regardless of their nationalities within the Empire, are sent to German Language Lessons within their respected Academies, an effort subsidized by the Imperial Parliament. Alongside this effort, each divisions are expected to have a unit of soldiers able to speak basic German for the betterment of communications. The entirety of the Conscripted Army Corps are disbanded and returned to their natural ways of life. But capitalizing on those who wish to remain within the military, recruitment stations are set up throughout the Empire. The Imperial Armies of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire undergo reforms in order to facilitate overall improved quality as it plans to rely more on well-trained career soldiers rather than conscripted civilians. Squad-cohesion is improvised upon, each Platoon expecting to have a machine-gun crew while each Battalion will eventually establish a communications crew. The Army Training Camps are vastly expanded upon, most central Bases capable of holding an increased amount of trainees up in the thousands. The last funds dedicated for the Military Budget is funnelled into various projects regarding tele-communications. Based upon the issues brought up during the War, the projects aim at improving the rudimentary radio-systems used, and hopefully achieving a portable radio that infantrymen can carry eventually. The matters of Aviation and the Navy will have to wait for the next year as all focus has been put on improving for the Army this time around. Civilian Affairs The far eastern Imperial Kingdom of Galicia-Lodomeria had been devastated in the prior. Though the Russians did not outright raze the land, the combating forces of multiple millions of men along a vast stretch of trenches tore up the land. As such, in order to restore the Kingdom to its former state, a portion of the incoming Russian reparations are used to rebuild and bring people back into the fold. The United Imperial University of Scientific Research is opened in Budapest by Franz Ferdinand himself - planning on bringing the brightest of the entire Empire into a centralized location, they will be responsible for ensuring the modernizing and improvement of the Empire. The assassination of Karl von Stürgkh throws the Imperial Parliament into a temporary chaos. The killing of such a high ranking official in a clandestine matter had been unheard of in Austrian Politics so far. If God [Mod] willing, Friedrich the Assassin would be hunted down, trialed, and executed immediately. The death of Karl made it apparent, designated Politicians would need guarding, a situation in which the Emperor was more than happy to capitalize upon. Portions of his Imperial Guard Regiments are tasked with the security details of most Politicians that could face potential threat. Societal reformations will have to another year. Foreign Affairs The Romanian reprisal is completely ignored by the Austrian Parliament, who are more than content with ignoring their complaints. Nevertheless, a sizable chunk of the Imperial Standing-Army is stationed alongside the border just in case they need to suppress any insurrectionist ideals. Emperor Franz Josef issues an official Imperial Statement in regards to the matters of Socialism - condemning its practice on grounds that they will bring about the downfall of world order and bring about an era of woeful tyrants. No Socialists will find safe haven within the Austrian Empire. The Empire partakes in the resumed economic trading between all the Central Powers. From Istanbul to Berlin, commerce flows without issue. The Imperial response to the Polish people is amiable, they are congratulated for their capability of deciding their nation’s fate by themselves. And as promised, Austrian armies stay clear of the border as no military actions are taken against the Republic. IMPERIAL ACTIONS The Imperial Armies of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire initiate a grand effort for modernizing and improving. Austrian Central begins the groundwork of Operation Falk. Highly confidential and known only by a select few. Imperial University founded for centralized technological advances. Imperial Condemnation of Socialism. 21. THE EMPIRE OF AUSTRIA-HUNGARY The Death of a Monarch Emperor Franz Joseph was in critical status, his health had rapidly deteriorated ever since he was caught outside by his attendants taking a walk during the last cold months of the year past. He was unable to observe the state of his Empire while bumbling fools tore it apart in front of him, being bedridden. He had come to terms with his heir though - His nephew, Franz Ferdinand had come to his side during his last moments, to which the Emperor had officially entrusted the Empire to Ferdinand. And so, in the year of our Lord, 1916, Emperor Franz Joseph of the Hapsburg House had breathe his last breath. The central territories of the Empire fall into a state of mourning as the funeral procession proceeds, but due to the war, the majority of the citizenry are not permitted to halt productions, and shortly after, all states are returned to their normal status. Furious Reforms With the Greater Austrian Empire now under his control as Emperor, Franz Ferdinand was deeply disgusted by the state of it all – From the Rape of Bulgaria, to ineffective Austrian Military, to the massive ethnic tensions that plagued his lands, he sought to lay down the foundations of repairing such an Empire. He slowly begun to replace the old Imperial Cabinets with his own, knowing that his future plans will no doubt cause massive issues with the already established ruling Nobility. He was even more so concerned about the backlash he may acquire from the Magyars in Hungary, he had to tread upon a tight line to ensure his reforms are to pass into reality. Regardless of such concerns, his control over his portion of the Austrian Military was strong. Like most Habsburg males, Ferdinand enlisted into Army early on in his life, to which he would make connections and would have his influence be spread. Upon his ascension to Emperor of All of Greater Austria, his control over the Military bolstered - his first concerns were the criminalizing of those involved in the Rape of Bulgaria, from the highest Officer to the lowest, those who had a major part in sacking Bulgaria were called to Court. A move that would boost his popularity while replacing inept Commanders within the Army. His own Imperial Regiments being sent forth to bring these people to Vienna, as the remainder would remain stationed around the Emperor and his key assets. Upon matters of personal military matters; Franz Ferdinand quietly expands the Imperial Guard, incorporating more of the Empire’s Nobility into it. Handpicked for their loyalty and competency, they are soon expected to be put to use as the usually ceremonial Guard Regiments are put into active training. Following the expansion of his Imperial Guard, the Emperor sought to build a Party centered about himself within the House of Lords Parliament in Vienna. Utilizing the fact that the children of some of the Lordly Politicians have now been enlisted into his Regimental Guards, he begins to build his political influence by operating together with these people. Now his concerns then laid upon the matters of his Legislation within the Parliaments, though here he wouldn't be heavy-handed. He couldn't afford an Hungarian outrage at this time if he attempted to fix upon any of the situations currently plaguing the Government. The Hungarians elite, being naturally complacent, did not want to alter the status quo, for they were kept content with ruling over their already established zones dictated in the 1867 Compromise, even if it meant it was tearing the Empire apart - they will be dealt with, eventually. The Emperor can although hire translators to work within the Parliaments, ensuring that the various ethnicity of the Empire are heard and comprehended, but not yet acted upon, a minor action that would hopefully appease the politicians for a time. Seeing that further actions may cause increased instability within his Empire, Franz Ferdinand awaits for the Summer Offensive to be completed before acting upon anything else. Leaving his hope into the hands of those he chose to strike back at the Russians. IMPERIAL STATE OF AFFAIRS The Austrian Economy continued to operate at regular wartime readiness - though Galicia was lost, it was not of major importance like the Hungarian valley, or Bohemian flatlands. Trade continued between the Central Powers, forming a strong link of land commerce all the way from Berlin, Vienna, Rome, Belgrade and Istanbul. In return for the land transfer to the Kingdom of Serbia, the Serbians pledge their logistical support to the Austrian Offensive into Galicia, hopefully able to alleviate the issues of re-mobilizing over five million troops. Utilizing the fact that the children of some of the Lordly Politicians have now been enlisted into his Regimental Guards, he begins to build his political influence by operating together with these people. IMPERIAL ACTIONS The Western Expeditionary Armies are recalled from France. Using German infrastructure, they make a quick withdrawal back to the Eastern Front against the Russians and Her allies. The majority of the one million strong force is expected to re-mobilized within the year’s end, they are expected to reinforce the Austrian Push into their lost territory. [Troop Re-mobilization from West to East] As the Imperial Battle-Groups are ordered forward, the Austrian Command meets its first obstacle, Lamberg. The operation begins to recapture the City lost previously at the start of the War. The battle-lines are drawn out throughout the surrounding region. Once the Austrian armies reach their line, they are under orders specifically from the Emperor to be arranged into battalions that are consistent with their ethnicities, with as many translators sent to them as possible in order to alleviate any communications issues or language barriers. [Battle Plans] The ‘Sale’ of Bosnia and Dalmatia amongst other regions to the Serbian Kingdom is concluded without issues. The Slavic people in the region reunited with their homeland. The K.K Gendarmerie from Austria-Proper is positioned about in key ethnically Slavic enclaves throughout to prevent any sort of hostile behaviorism before it comes to fruition. [Trade Deal with Serbia] Communication issues are brought up to the Emperor. Seeing as the Empire speaks a multitude of languages, finding a common balance is difficult to achieve. The Emperor although does promise to make it so that all languages within his lands with a large population are equal in a Public Statement Report, and plans to pass through several laws in Parliament after the War’s end. [Promises of Language Equality] The majority of the Imperial Income is funded into the Military in order to keep it in fighting shape, any sort of public projects will have to wait till the war’s end. [Mass Funding of Imperial Military]
