Not many people bring life to their human characters by bothering with an accent, be it laziness or just not knowing how. I've used this accent in Roleplay to give characters like Garman, a crusty, old, illiterate and uneducafed infantryman some more character, instead of him speaking perfect and clear English like you're reading right now. So let's dive in! Accent Difficulty: Medium-Hard Rule 1: "I" is now "Oi" Americans tend to emphasize letters when they say words, like the R in Artist, whereas Englishmen might sound like they're saying "Autist" when they speak the word. (It all depends on where you're from over there. Some say "Glass" while others say "Gloss" purely based on where in the U.K. they're born.) Rule 2: "What" is now... "Wot" That's right. U wot m8. Write What as Wot. That's all, really. Rule 3: No more H! You're gonna want to drop the H in a lot of words. Pretty much every word that starts with H will be altered. The French have this similarity with their accent as well, but it sounds more deliberate than Cockney. Rule 4: "You" is now "Yew" With an American accent, 'you' sounds like 'yoo.' There's a very slight difference at the end of the word with a cockney accent, so we represent that with the W. "Yew wot maite." (If yew toiped 'maite' as 'moite', yew'd soun' Australian) Rule 5: Lose parts of certain words This rule is a pretty loose one, since it takes a bit of practice to nail it without sounding dumb. Basically you want to remove the letters of certain words to emphasize the accent. Rule 6: "ING" is now "IN'" Pretty simple rule that I've seen done with lots of other accents out there. Doesn't have to be done all the time either. Rule 7: Th is now F (or V/D) Don't ask me, it's just how they say fings. Rule 8: Don't overdo it It's easy when typing out any accent to overdo it and look like you're speaking gibberish. Just try to avoid it. Pro Tip: Learn some Cockney slang. Cockneys have a very strange list of slang words that only really make sense to other cockneys. A simple google search of "Cockney rhyming slang" will enlighten you on further phrases if you're truly interested. Here's one of my favourite videos about Cockneys. Here you'll hear firsthand a whole bunch of slang, accent, and swears - so watch at your own risk.

[✓] Spinning Wheels (Sewing Machines)
Unknown User replied to Unknown User's topic in Inventions/Discoveries
Yeah I didn't intend for this to be an actual crafting station, just some proper implemented lore or something. -
I don't take credit for the original design of this in Minecraft, but I had to edit it so that you don't need MC edit to actually make it. So here's your average spinning wheel. And here's the minecraft version that I have two of in the server right now Naturally, I'd rather use a fence gate and a carpet over top as the body of the spinning wheel, but you'd have to MC Edit the levers on the sides, which is near impossible in the server as a non-staff member. Now I was thinking this could perhaps be actually made into one of the many crafting stations in the server, but if not, It's always good to have it implemented as official lore canon. There really isn't much to explain about it, so I'll keep this post brief.

French culture in LotC is Auverginian or some weird word like that. And no, they bastardize the French stereotype accent :^)

Quebec French or France French? Quebec French is 16th century France French

German accents have been quite popular recently, used by the Waldenian characters in LotC. Most peoples way of typing the accent is often hard to read, doesn't look or flow right, mixes other accents in, or is just wrong. The following are some basic rules to assist you in typing out a great accent that makes sense and looks good. Rule 1: Pronounce 'TH' as either S or Z. Don't get confused between the two substitution letters. You don't just choose one willy-nilly. There are specific times where you need to use them as explained below. Rule 2: Pronounce W as V. Rule 3: Pronounce J as Y [Loose] Rule 4: You don't have to, but some words containing S could be spruced up with an SCH. Rule 5: German words you can use in your speech.

1st Switzer Regiment of Foot The regimental colours and sigil. Founding The role of the 1st Switzer Regiment of Foot Is to provide quality infanteers -who specialize in anti-cavalry warfare- to fulfill a contract of arms at home, abroad or on the field of battle. Each Switzer is regimented under the contract that binds them and is obligated to fulfill their duties until death or contract end. 1st Switzer Regiment of Foot does not work solely for money and personal gain as solo mercenaries are too commonly stereotyped as doing. The regiment, instead, is loyal to the length and terms of the contract that the Regiment's CO signs, regardless of how much is paid or if there are better contracts offered. Disloyalty and treason is punished severely, and is arguably a worse offense in this Regiment than any others out there. The stereotype that mercenaries are disloyal and will leave you for someone who pays higher is false, and 1st Switzer Regiment of Foot lives to prove that. Command Structure The Irregulars adhere to a loose hierarchy of command. Their experience and social status as commoners has led them to hold these facts in common creating a jovial and casual atmosphere between the various ranks of the Irregulars. Regimental History Formed 8th Snows Maiden, 1576 Designated 9th Snows Maiden, 1578 as 1st Switzer Regiment of Foot Recruitment Jobs and Contracts The Irregulars will perform a variety of tasks under bound contract. Contract goals will be pursued until death or completion. The only exception being a violation of agreed upon payment by the Contracting party. Prices vary depending on the task at hand and the degree of resources required to complete the task. The 1st Switzer Regiment of Foot will undertake no contracts against Imperial property, forces or the Imperial throne itself. These contracts will be instantly declined and the potential client will be reported to the authorities. However the Regiment will serve in inter-house conflicts and various non imperial civil wars. Commendations Regimental Standing Orders A Switzer Footman as seen in the Regimental recruiting poster. ((The basic premise of this group is to provide the server with a good mercenary company. A lot of combat in medieval ages was fought with mercenaries, the Swiss being the most famous. This group is based heavily off of the Swiss Mercenaries, and we hope to provide immersive, and quality roleplay not only for ourselves, but for the rest of the server. We hope to debunk the misconceptions about mercenaries such as the cliché "mercs only work for the money, and they'll abandon you for whoever pays them more" stereotype. We actually don't work that way, and have instead adopted a contract system. This system binds us under a contract to work for whoever hires us until the contract ends, or the money stops flowing. Abandoning a contract for one that pays higher simply will not happen, even if it's an extremely high-paying one. So don't fret your pretty little minds about that, y'hear? Also, this is not a recruitment thread.))
