  1. Canvas Hundreds of feet above the sea level, a lone figure gazed over a flourishing valley riddled in leafy hues of green of the forest, sprinkled with thousands of flowers filling the fields that gradually steepened into what could only be described as unscalable mountainside, only to be met by the vast beginning of the ocean on its opposite side.. The graceful, if not peaceful yet saturated view was painted upon his eyes as he stared into the horizon, the only thing that could’ve ruined the view were the undeniable presence of the clouds. The clouds, through which several beams of sunlight stabbed through, the clouds seemed to have almost stopped in place as if pinned upon the ceiling of Athera. But it was beautiful, the vibrant colours dazzling in the spots that sun did reach; though it didn’t reach him, the one delving within his own mind. Numerous pillars of stone looming around the lone mali, presumably ancient from the way they were crumbling under their old age. It was a ruin that had been there since before the ages of Aegis, the ancient fort that had relentlessly fought against the grasp of time, perhaps with the aid provided by its inhabitants that were hardly ever seen. He stood, almost perching over the chasm’s edge as a gentle wind produced by the sea licked his face from the west; regardless, the air was stale. A little blue-grey there, and a bit darker green over there, long and short strokes in succession, gentle brush after another, he painted the view upon a pure white canvas. It was the gloomy, yet so calm a view - what else would there have been to paint. His mouth was as dry as the middle of Deus Proditor, as he produced a click - toungue flicking against his palate; “Tch!” He grunted in dissatisfaction, as the strands of hair in his paintbrush inexplicably twisted upon eachother, rendering it useless. His annoyance made his gaze stray from the view it had been fixed on, finally making him notice what had been slowly yet surely happening around him. Most certainly, the clouds were spiraling above the ruined fort, freakish hues of indigo merging in the puffy veil. He stared at the sky, that seemed irrational. It simply made no sense for such an unnatural storm to suddenly brew, and not a single droplet of rain had drizzled down either. Suddenly, a gust of wind slammed down from the sky, washing over the mali. A single swoosh that had been lurking above fell over him in an instant, and the mali dropped down on his knees. “Haah!” He would scream in agony, as an overwhelming presence surged through his veins and his very being, blackening the former into a traceable, incarnate painting over his body. Only a few seconds after, he would feel something crawling up his throat, only to muffle the scream that had escaped his wide open jaw. In a single gurle, he puked out a splatter of black goop over the canvas, the echoes of his own scream still ringing through his ears as the valley answered to it’s call. The scream that pierced through the air could've probably been heard all the way in the nearby town. His eyes could show nothing but darkness for a short span of time, until finally the image cleared up again as the power surging through him adjusted to its new host. The canvas was still in front of him, though pitch black, with nothing but a sickly red, four-pointed star painted upon its surface. In a second he understood exactly what Trevor and Haskal had gone through, and managed to kept sealed within themselves. It was the power of Ikuras, transferring from the old Kknotos to the new. He blinked in daze as everything returned to normal. The usual silence of the fort shrouding it again, and the clouds seemed as depressing as usually. The body that now contained a new gift, also regained it’s original state, at least visually. The lone figure was left staring at the black canvas held up by the easel, wondering if he had ever even painted anything else upon it. He glances down to the valley once more from the spot he had decided to paint at, departing the ruins - leaving them silent again.
  2. Congratulations new GMs! What about Sky & Z3r0 though?
  3. Fix yo grades son :3 Until then, I'll be waiting!
  4. A rather plain figure simply stood there, his boots planted in the grass and his arms crossed before his chest. His attention on the other hand, was turned towards Alrian standing on his elevated platform. The thousands of black, silky strands of hair gently waved in the wind in tune with his robes, as the breeze rolled through the valley time after time. A silence ensued, from his part atleast, as he observed the situation, and the speech - an unquenched thirst of curiosity gleaming in his eyes subtly as his attention bounced between the individuals stating their allegiances and opinions. Amused, and curious. Yet, the mali with a rather contained smile painted upon his lips did not state a word: choices like this required further thinking, he thought, not to mention that he was the type of person who would see where the bridge leads before crossing it.
  5. its k to cry a little innit? rip in peace sweet kraal
  6. Consider it done before sunday. If someone else makes it before, I can still reshade if you wanna :3
  7. This should indeed be a case, hopefully we can see a change soon. Set bans can be a solution. Below it shows what it looks like when someone is banned
  8. Well anyways, I've probably said everything I wanted to say. An absolute consistency when it comes to bans is not what I expect, what I expect is either logic or fairness, preferably a mix. Well, I can understand if such is impossible though, like, innocent people get convicted in 'murica too..
  9. Hi I'm Trips, maybe you know me, maybe you don't. I've been with the server for a bit past a year now and I thought I'd post a little rant-topic. This could've probably been in the feedback forum, but off-topic is always a safe bet don't you think? Anyways, LotC has changed a lot in a year and a lot of things have happened. Four different maps have cycled within the span of a single year, rules regarding raiding, wars and a load of other things have changed. For example, you can no longer use curse words in the forums, or say blacklisted words in game. What suprises me with the implementation of the blacklist is the words chosen. For example, a*tism is a word on the blacklist, just like numerous nicknames for that mental disorder. Using the word in pretty much any way gets you banned for 30 - 60 minutes. The word itself isn't even offensive, whereas the word ni*ger is. Did I mention that you can call someone a ni*ger on the server and the blacklist doesn't pick it up because it isn't a blacklisted word? That really makes me wonder, if the staff is pro-racism, or simply finds mental disorders more relevant. In any case, it's quite ironic. EDIT: apparently the n-word is on the blacklist, but each time i've seen someone use it nothing has happened. (this comes from someone who has been banned twice for saying the 'a-word') Now that gets me in the mood to talk about bans. It is surely a topic that has been discussed over many teamspeak channels and skype groups, and for some unknown reason I decided to bring it here. Do you all think that the system regarding bans is something to take seriously? To me it seems more like a joke. People who repeat breaking the rules after appealing always get unbanned, people who did absolutely nothing are getting banned (and staying so), and people who break the rules get unbanned.. and most certainly people who are liked by the staff get away with anything. Well.. let me give you a prime example of what I am talking about: spiffytaylor411 was banned a little over a week ago for something he didn't do. He broke absolutely no rules and got banned for what, two months because of biased opinions? Practically he was banned for being a protagonist in the story someone else made. After waiting a few days for the dust to settle he made a ban appeal, only to wait a full day to get it looked at, and then get told to wait until friday. His ban appeal was very well thought out and explained the situation quite well. Therefore his ban was changed from two months to two weeks. Not that outrageous, sounds kind of fair right? Second example is the beloved leader of Leyulin, Leowarrior14. He got banned yesterday for something that wasn't really all that ban-worthy, yet he still did evidently break the rules; by running through a non-PVP zone. For this he received a ban of a single week, which in itself sounds quite fair, for it is only seven days. Regardless, he didn't exactly post a ban appeal, but I assume simply by being a known figure with humongous amounts of OOC charisma he got unbanned within a single day, or perhaps some staff member likes him a lot, I don't know. So now I am wondering how does LotC ban policy exactly work? Is it entirely based of off the mood of the staff, or perhaps it is highly clouded by OOC relations? Is LotC even trying to cater to the needs of the community, or just doing whatever feels fun at the time. Being the biggest community like this, I think we should set an example for things like this. Get this **** straight already! And how in the world are we still not majority default? Majority default always makes over 50% enjoy the battle. Like, actually, what in the world is the staff doing other than each moderating in a way they see fit? When do they listen to the community? TL;DR calling staff out for favoritism and not listening to community also gonna mention magic plugin lelelel

    Phrases And Idioms

Fixed and added some. I'll just update it whenever this thread has more stuff.
  12. Phrases and Idioms Phrases and idioms are something that can improve your dialogue, and make your character's way of speaking much more immersive. We may not even notice it when we use them in our speech in the real world, but this is Athera and we barely use any, so instead I got this idea of creating a small thread of phrases, sayings, slang and idioms. This could basically be our 'urban dictionary' to add to the spoken common of our LotC universe.. The purpose is for these phrases to be commonly used, if they aren't already, known by anyone. Added Elven and Adunian phrases too. Shoutout to Sporadic & Chikaea for them List in the spoiler: What the hell In use: "What in the Nether is that man doing?" Same as for Christ's sake or Heaven's sake, you get the idea. In use: "For Creator's sake, Jonas, what are you trying to achieve with that?" "Get out of Petrus, for Horen's sake, this isn't a place for bandits like you! Ginger, redhead In use: John gestures towards the redheaded mali sitting in back of the room. "Who's the elrow in the back?" Easterner In use: "The slanties have begun whaling in the Waldenian waters, or so I hear.." Crazy, insane In use: Jess glanced past her shoulder towards a hooded man, her face turning slightly pale as she whispered to her friend; "That man.. I've seen him before.. I swear he's touched by Ikuras.." Acting like you own the city when you don't In use: "What is that mali'aheral hattering for in Petrus? This is Petrus for Creator's sake!" Being ridiculously arrogant, narcissistic In use: "The maer went full-aheral yesterday in his speech.." Acting superior to others In use: "Why would he start white-rosing like that? It's not like he's any better than us!" Busting his balls, acting massively stupid and hot headed. In use: "Did you see James after that stranger kissed his wife? Man.. he was really Ologing it..." You're asking for trouble In use: "Excuse me, where can I find the Iblees cultists?" "You're giving gunpowder to a dwarf lad, and it's not worth it." Used to describe a young mali that has lived less than a century, or one acting in an immature and rash manner. In use: "Do not mind Celestrea, she is still living her human years." Have hope, cheer up In use: "It's no use worrying about it now, the sun will grow." He said to the mourning widow, along with a gentle pat on her head. Life goes on In use: "How could he leave me like this?" She sobbed quietly "I'm sorry Lana, but the wind travels and travels again. There're plenty of other guys." To make a fool out of yourself In use: "For Horen's sake Jeremy, you need to stop acting the fish in the court!" He told his misbehaving son. 'Good luck' or perhaps 'well said' In use: "I'm going to see the casino, Hoyt!" "A mina to you, my friend!" Hoyt chuckled, as he waved to his friend in farewell. Tell the truth In use: When the pigs fly, something that most certainly won't happen In use: "I think Oren will re-unite peacefully now.." "Oren? Hah! Yeah by the orc calendar!" To be exhausted In use: Jawnes slumps down a chair: "Can we not today, I'm a horse by the ninth mile.." The straw that broke the camel's back, the final limit of capacity including patience. In use: "This medicine cabinet is perfect as is, another vial would be the gem that overflowed the dwarven vault.." Said the maid after re-arranging everything in the cabinet. To force an idea on someone In use: I don't care In use: "Did you hear? The Mages Guild has a new archmage!" "I'm sure surprised.." Speak of the devil In use: "The guardsmen of this town are a joke, I mean-" He paused suddenly, lowering his tone. "..when you speak of the birds.." He whispers, glancing at the guardsman who walked past with an obvious drunken swagger in his steps.
  13. 1+ The lore itself is solid and everything makes sense, but I don't understand why this should be a locked creature to the ET when actually played? Wouldn't a permission be enough for a normal player to play this considering you have to give up a character regardless?
  14. This could be what allows 'death regions'
  15. I think some staff members are losing votes just because people don't know these nicknames and/or forum nicks you're using. Not a wise decision imo, as for example ETs are mostly recognized from their IGNs. Just sayin'..
  16. This is a good addition, but I can already predict that this will cause decline in the amount of villainy until the first bad villain gets VB'd. That happening will set the course of the rest of the villainy, since it'll be a set example of bad villainy and crudely show what kind of quality of roleplay is required from the villains. Now let's guess whether the first thing will be minas or die, or if it'll be some powergaming scrub. Also, I'm sure it'll be a great honor to be the first in the VB, rest of the server will be like..
  17. IGN: Triplewing RP Name: Zaviel I wish for a potion that makes someone shrink in size! If such isn't possible, an enchanting glyph for Fire Aspect or Flame!
