  1. DIE ERNENNUNG DER ERSTEN DAMNE FEIERNDER THE APPOINTMENT OF THE FIRST LADY REVELER Issued by the Herzog of Minitz in the year of our Lord 1902 SÖHNE UND TÖCHTER VON MINITZ, Us sons and daughters of Reinmar have always been a peoples of joy, of celebration, of drinking and of singing. Few night within our Herzogtum are spent without a filled tavern, for it is the mutual sharing of joy that connects people. Yet, amongst the many positions of Minitz, none have been delegated to oversee the specific organization of festive events, of new ways to celebrate life and peace, for our people to relax from their work and their farms. Of all the populace in our realm, it is thus that the Herzog does recognize one subject more capable than most to carry such a task, Lady Mayrin Evergreen. As such, she is to be appointed as the head of the planning and execution of events within the realm, thus donning the title of the Lady Reveler Thus, it is by the Decree of the Duke that: MAYRIN EVERGREEN BE ELEVATED AS THE LADY REVELER OF THE DUKE'S COURT, TO OVERSEE THE ORGANIZATION AND PLANNING OF FESTIVITIES AND EVENTS FOR THE WHOLE POPULATION OF THE REALM.. GOTT MIT UNS, His Grace, Leon Brandt Barclay Herzog von Minitz KRE, GMSTSR Duke of Minitz, Count of Neu Brandthof, Viscount of Tucay, Baron of Boriënwald and Brandthof, Lord of Durres, Harvest Lord, Protector of the Aaunic Heartlands, High Chieftain of the Reinmaren
  2. From within the wooden palisades of Brandthof, Leon Barclay would be handed a book from his son, Brandt. He didn't read it right away, having to reply to too many conversations, he knew not the weight of the writing he kept. His eyes finally skimmed through the writing, a face of confusion, shock and a bit of fear took over his features. He knew not how to react, thus turning to his son once more "What's the meaning of this?!" cried the Herzog. Thus began a long line of questioning. The tome was given to Brandt by Tobias, Teft's ward. As words danced around, "dead man" was the one that immediately caught Leon's attention. "What?!" he shouted, and thus learned that no one truly had not seen his kinsman for months... To Yvian, his Ritter, he turned "Prepare a writ to declare him missing" he ordered with a dutiful, more stoic tone, wearing a feeling of discomfort as if his armor was made for it. The Ritter dipped his head in a tone of similar duty "It shall be done, your Grace" Thus, the Duke began preparations to send a search team "If anyone's touched him..." he'd say to no one in particular, not finishing the sentence.
  3. DIE NEUE ORDNUNG THE NEW ORDER Issued by the Herzog of Minitz in the year of our Lord 1902 SÖHNE UND TÖCHTER VON MINITZ, It is with joy and a final relief that the Herzog of Minitz wishes to announce the new Order of the realm. After much work, and with the counsel of the Ducal Herrenhaus, the structure of the Minitzian Herzograt, or government, has been refined and constructed anew. Thus promoting stability, order, and increasing importance in the efforts and work of all citizens of the realm, the new Order shall bring forth many opportunities and regulations for all to enjoy. Traditions of Minitz have been officialized, the tribes of Minitz finally structured and now able to be found as per the law of the Kanun, and many, many more. It is thus by the decree of the Herzog Leon Barclay, that all these documents be officialized and be available to the public, and that many of their functionalities be utilized immediately, and the others be implemented upon the construction of Neu Brandthof. GOTT MIT UNS THE NEW BOOKS OF THE KANUN One of the most paramount documents of the New Order, the Grand Kanun of Minitz shall be expanded, and amongst its writing shall be added TWO new books, those of “Virtue and Prestige” and “Kin and Kith.” The first of the two shall thus establish the lawful virtues of our realm, written in accordance to the traditions and ways of the Reinmaren. In conjunction, the Ranks of Prestige are thus founded, acting as the social hierarchy of the realm, many of which are awarded based on the upkeep of the Virtues. Secondly, the Book of Kin and Kith outlines the laws, regulations, and ways of the tribes of Minitz, so that all Reinmaren of the realm may join, found, and work towards the prosperity of their tribe. THE HERZOGRAT OF MINITZ As the second most paramount document of the new Order, the Herzograt of Minitz is thus founded and outlined. The term of the Herzograt, translated from Waldenian to mean “The Ducal Council”, shall function as the overarching organization of the realm, in other words, its government. Three branches shall compose the new Herzograt of our realm: THE HERRENHAUS: to act as the Duke’s most trusted council, to lead the realm through their duties and authorities THE LANDTAG: to act as the second council of the realm, composed of all Reinmaren tribesmen of Minitz, who shall have say in the Moots of Minitz and in its legislation. The Landtag shall fall under the authority of the Lawspeaker. THE MAYOR’S OFFICE: to act as the representative of the Burghers of the realm, the non-Reinmaren residents who fill the walls of Neu Brandthof. THE REFORMED THEODERIC’S WARBAND The very genesis of Minitz, the Warband of the Duchy has thus been reformed, to better reflect its standing as the main ducal military. Aside from the more defined hierarchy of the Warband, trials and requirements have thus been established for both the enlisting of the Warriors and the election of their Warchief. The listed oath and tenets of the Warband shall serve as both the word that binds the warriors, and the creed that they live by and fight for. THE OFFICE OF THE BAILIFF Finally clarifying and outlining the positions and authorities of the Bailiff’s Office, this document shall be used as a reference and parchment of information for all those who wish to serve the realm as employees of the Bailiff. The Office’s responsibilities shall be twofold: to enforce the Law of the Kanun and to oversee matters of property and taxation within the realm. As such, the Bailiff shall hold authority over the Knights of Saint Tylos as the enforcers of law, as well as the Stewards of the realm, to act as designators of property and leviers of taxes. THE REGULATIONS OF PROPERTY The first edict of the Bailiff’s Office, the Edict of Property shall thus outline the rules and regulations regarding the leasing and buying of properties within Minitz. This document shall hold power only after the construction of Neu Brandthof. THE TRIALS AND OATH OF THE TRIBESMEN A practice performed since the inception of Minitz nearly two decades ago, the Trials of the Stallion and the Ritual of Blood are thus finally officialized. Primarily concerning those who wish to climb the social ranks of Minitz, these documents shall serve as parchments of information for those who wish to join amongst the Reinmaren tribesmen of the realm. THE PACT OF EAGLES The last document, signed after the oath of the High Chieftain Leon I Barclay, shall be the pact binding the Houses of Barclay, the mainline von Reinmar and the cadet von Minitz. Thus securing the eternal allegiance of the two houses.
  4. DAS RITUAL DES BLUTS THE RITUAL OF BLOOD Issued by the Herzog of Minitz in the year of our Lord 1902 SÖHNE UND TÖCHTER VON MINITZ, The prospective who his trials underwent, shall thus be ready to be called a Reinmaren. As they shall accept the culture of our people as their own, so too shall they accept our blood as their own. Before the Herzog they shall emerge, and as such, before all the Reinmaren of the realm. His palm shall be cut, and his blood conjoined with the Herzog’s own upon the warrior’s shake, one traditional to our people. Thus, after accepting the words and blood of the Reinmaren, a new name they shall be allowed to choose for themselves, one of Reinmaren or Waldenian origin, so that they may emerge anew: If so they wish, the newly oathed tribesman may select a new name to be called by, thus embracing the tongue of the Reinmaren. If not, their old name they can hold. If the tribesman is willing to join one of the Tribes of Minitz, thus they can change their surname to the tribe’s secondary name. If the Chieftain of the tribe so has allowed, the tribesman will hold this name until they undergo the trials of the tribe and join it. The tribesman who wishes not to join a Tribe of Minitz shall acquire the suffix “von Minitz”, to be recognized as one of his motherland. PREPARATIONS Before the Ritual begins, the Herzog of Minitz, accompanied by two Reinmaren tribesmen shall adorn traditional Reinmaren clothing. The accompanying tribesmen shall assume the roles of the Dolchmeister (Common: The Master of the Dagger) and the Chanter each, and will both wear the traditional tribal clothes, covering their faces and figures from head to toe. The Dolchmeister, shall hold the ceremonial Blood Dagger, whilst the Chanter lightly chants Reinmaren hymns of old. The Herzog shall adorn different clothing from the other two tribesmen. His face, however, must remain covered, for his person will symbolize the Reinmaren people as a whole, a people not bound only by their facial features, but most importantly by their traditions and lifestyle. The Herzog and those who shall accompany him will stand in front of the Tribesman to be oathed, preferably on a higher podium. The Herzog will stand at the front, whilst the other two will flank him, one holding the dagger. The Tribesman shall remain in front of the trio, standing up with a straight posture. Thus can the Ritual of Blood Begin. THE RITUAL As the ritual begins, the Chanter begins singing Reinmaren chants of old. The Herzog remains at the front, his head covered. His figure turns towards the Dolchmeister standing to his side. The Herzog commands “Bring forth the Blood Dagger” The Dolchmeister does so, extending the Dagger towards the Herzog. The Herzog turns to the Tribesman in front of him, and, with the dagger, cuts his palm to the point where blood flows out somewhat. He then extends the cut palm towards the tribesman, and speaks “This is my blood. This is the blood of Reinmar and the blood of our people. Through this wound flows the same blood that flowed from Chieftain Theoderic's wounds, and those of Wilheim Barclay. Do you accept this blood as if it were your own? Do you accept it as if it flowed through your own veins from your birth?” The Tribesman replies “Your blood shall be my own” The Herzog continues “Do you accept the customs of Reinmar as your own? Do you accept its people as your own?” The Tribesman replies “With all my heart” The Dolchmeister asks the Tribesman the following questions, one by one: “Will you respect the mountains and rivers?” “Will you respect your blood and family?” “Will you imprint your glory and honor?” “Will you respect your forefathers?” “Will you value your grand history?” The Tribesman replies to each one of the questions “I shall” The Herzog then descends the podium going in front of the tribesman. “Then bring forth your palm, [Name], so that you may bleed as I bled. So you may bleed as Reinmar has bled" The Tribesman thus extends his palm, which is cut by the Herzog similarly to how he cut his own beforehand. The Herzog then extends his hand for a Reinmaren warrior’s shake, gripping at the partner’s wrist instead of their palm. The Tribesman returns the shake, similarly gripping onto the Herzog’s wrist. The Herzog: “Thus has our blood become one, thus have you become a son of Reinmar. One of us. Thus have you been rebirthed. What name do you choose for yourself, son of Reinmar?” The Tribesman: “[New name]” The Herzog: “Thus as you came forth [Name], you emerge a Son/Daughter of Minitz and all of Reinmaria. Keep your oath close to your heart, for it is your first Schwur. Respect it, and it will bring glory to you, break it, and it will break you.” The Chanter ceases chanting, the ritual concludes.
  5. DIE PRÜFUNGEN DES HENGSTES THE TRIALS OF THE STALLION Issued by the Herzog of Minitz in the year of our Lord 1902 SÖHNE UND TÖCHTER VON MINITZ, Thus will be the trials of the Reinmaren tribesmen of Minitz. Any and all sons and daughters of Minitz, Reinmaren-born or not, shall undergo the Trials of Stallion to be officially recognized as the Reinmaren tribesmen of the realm. After their trials, the Ritual of Blood they shall undergo, to finally be called the Sons and Daughters of Minitz and all Reinmaria. These trials they shall take under the guidance of any of the following: The Herzog, Lawspeaker, Warchief, Bailiff, and Hochgeehrte, Ritter. Without the overseeing of these figures, the trials taken shall be invalid, lest these authorities dictate otherwise. Upon the successful completion of these trials, the prospective tribesman shall await to undergo the Ritual of Blood, whereupon they shall become a tribesman of Reinmar. THE TRIAL OF HUMILITY “Remember your Roots”, these are the words of House Barclay von Minitz, and the roots of the Reinmaren lie in their respect for every and all trades. The good tribesman is he whose respect extends to any and all Shqiptars, whom in common we call the hard workers, be they farmers or warchiefs. Thus, the prospective tribesman shall understand the work of the farmer, miller, and baker through their own experience. They shall be subjected to producing one of the most basic Waldenian dishes, the Pretzel. The components they shall harvest themselves; their scythe shall harvest the wheat, and their hands shall separate the grain from the chaff. The flour they will produce from the grain, to know the struggles of the miller. The eggs they shall harvest from the chicken, to understand the struggle of the poulter. The dough they shall prepare to understand the struggle of the baker. Finally, with the ingredients of their labor they shall produce the Pretzel, to understand the importance of every trade and craft. Their work shall be evaluated by the watchful eye of the Kanun’s chosen, to see that the tribesman values his work, and its product is desirable. THE TRIAL OF THE SPIRIT He who does not know himself cannot know the ways of his people. The aspiring tribesman shall thus be subject to struggle with the innermost fears of his soul, his biggest regrets. If he emerges victorious with an understanding of his own being, then he shall be ready to understand the ways of our people, to become one of us. The tribesman shall thus be offered the potion of the soul, as our ancestors were given in times of old. The potion shall open the view of their spirit to their eyes, their deepest fears shall come forth in front of them. With the depth of their spirit they shall fight, to understand the struggles of their soul, and to defeat them. If victorious, free, courageous, and unyielding they shall emerge, a man of a new spirit, one ready to accept the ways of our people. The Kanun’s chosen shall oversee the battle with their struggles, and, if the tribesman was seen to overcome his struggles, ready he shall be to become a Reinmaren GOTT MIT UNS, His Grace, Leon Brandt Barclay Herzog von Minitz KRE, GMSTSR Duke of Minitz, Count of Neu Brandthof, Viscount of Tucay, Baron of Boriënwald and Brandthof, Lord of Durres, Harvest Lord, Protector of the Aaunic Heartlands, High Chieftain of the Reinmaren

The Bailiff is the only authority, aside from the Herzog, to appoint the workers of their office aside the Ritter of Minitz, namely the Quartermaster and Stewards. Overseeing the Mayoral Elections. THE RITTER VON MINITZ Despite their primary job not being related to this office, the duty of the Ritter, or Knights of the Order of Saint Tylos includes aiding the Bailiff in the upholding of the Law. They are not chosen by the Bailiff, but they may be called at any time by the Bailiff to aid him, and, upon such, they are obligated to follow, lest they are told otherwise by their Herrenmeister or Herzog. The Duties of the Ritter under the Bailiff’s Office include: Enforcing the Law of Minitz. Similarly to the Bailiff, the Ritter holds authority to pass the punishments associated with the Lawspeaker’s judgements. However, unlike the Bailiff, they can only pass judgment and punishment for minor wrongdoings. 8. THEODERICHS KRIEGSRUPPE THEODERIC’S WARBAND Issued by the Theoeric’s Warchief and the Herzog of Minitz in the year of our Lord 1902 SÖHNE UND TÖCHTER VON MINITZ, Nearly Twenty Four years ago was it that the Warband of Theoderic was founded. A stray Warband with no land to call home, composed of brave, adventurous Reinmaren men to seek glory and the prosperity of their tribe. Led by the Barclay cousins Leon and Dietrich, Theoderic’s Warband paved the way for what we today call and enjoy home, the Herzogtum of Minitz, a refuge of the Reinmaren traditions and culture. Yet, as Minitz grew, so too shall the Warband that began it all. The realm that we all so love it shall protect, for her tribes it shall fight, and for its values it shall lay its life. Let the one stray Warband be reformed, so that it may enjoy the glory of its home, its rigid structure and its meritocratic nature. Thus, it is by the Decree of Herzog Leon Barclay, Duke of Minitz, that Theoderic’s Warband be Reformed into the proper military force that it was destined to be. May its prosperity bring forth prosperity to all of our realm. GOTT MIT UNS HISTORY AND CULTURE Taking after tribal Reinmaren military traditions, Theoderic’s Warband rekindles the practices of olden days. The sons and daughters of Reinmar have always defined themselves as free folk since their ethnic conception, continuing to do so to this day. A people whose history is drenched in the blood of war and struggle since the days of the first tribes, the Reinmaren have always treasured both their peace-time prosperity and their war-time battles, be it amongst themselves or from foreign threats. Despite the turmoil of the time, one thing prevailed amongst the Sons of Reinmar, their brotherhood. “With the blood-price paid in high from both our kin and kith, we wish the Gods to see through our joint salvation. From this day onward, I pledge to protect my newfound brother Gelimar by any means possible, as one ought to protect one's brother, insofar as he does the same for me.” So spoke the Chief Theoderic after the long feud between his tribe and that of senior chieftain Gelimar, both Sons of Reinmar. In Theoderic’s acts of both revolt for freedom and brotherhood through peace is found the spirit of the new Theoderic’s Warband, to commemorate the spirit and deeds of our Reinmaren ancestor, and to follow after him. HIERARCHY Thus will be the ranks of Theoderic’s Warband, and the respective uniforms, to thus reflect the standing of each rank. Furthermore, those Warriors who are part of the Tribes of Minitz may represent their tribe through alterations of golden engravings in their chestplate, displaying their tribe’s sigil. UNBLOODED: Composed of the new recruits of the Warband, the rank of the Unblooded holds little authority within the Warband. These are the fresh faces who wish to serve as the staunch warriors of the realm, to fight for and protect its prosperity. Anyone can become an unblooded, be they Reinmaren or not. However, to ascend to the rank of the warrior, they must have completed the Ritual of Blood to become Reinmaren, and, finally, the trial of the Stallion, where they must prove their skill as a Reinmaren by stealing a stallion. WARRIOR: The backbone of the Warband, the Warrior is the tried and tested Reinmaren fighter. They have undergone the required trials, and have taken Theoderic’s Oath. As protectors of their motherland, they enjoy special privileges, such as the free carrying of weapons, the right to buy and own a house within Neu Brandthof, etc. All outlined within the THIRD book of the Grand Kanun. Upon Oathing, a Warrior cannot resign from the Warband. If they do so, they will be deemed a deserter. SOLDAT: Elevated from amongst the most skilled and dedicated Warriors of Minitz, the Soldats of the Warband are held to a higher esteem than their peers, without carrying any leadership responsibility. They do, however, enjoy further privileges as regard to housing and prestige. In order to join the honored ranks of the Soldats, a soldier must show merit and dedication to the Warband, so that the leadership of the band may recognize them as higher than their peers. SPEERMANN: The lowest of the ranks of leadership within the Warband, the Speermanner’s work is dedicated to the training of the ranks. They organize training and prepare both the Unblooded and Warriors for battle, making sure that those who ascend the ranks of the Warband are able fighters. The rank of the Speermann, in common the “Spearman”, is directly related to the traditions of Minitz. Upon their ascend, they are given a ceremonial spear, similar to that depicted within the heraldry of the Duchy of Minitz. HAUPTMANN: The Hauptmanner of the Warband act as its captains, with full authority over the troops, only matched by the Warchief and the Herzog. The Hauptmann works hand-to-hand with the Warchief to oversee the general coordination and leading of the Warband, in matters such as commanding during battles, leading patrols, etc. Furthermore, they hold authority of the Speermanns, helping coordinate their training of the troops and tutoring them. WARCHIEF: Elected from the high ranking persons of Minitz, the Warchief of Theoderic’s Warband is the highest authority within the Warband. They oversee the leading of the Warband as a whole, and as such enjoy a seat within the Herzog’s Herrenhaus, to have a say in matters of militia. Within the Warband, the Warchief’s say is final, and the promotions through the ranks are dictated by them. THE ELECTION OF THE WARCHIEF Differently from most militaries and levies, the Theoderic’s Warband stems from tribal roots and Reinmaren traditions. Similarly, the Warchief of the Warband is elected from amongst all the warriors of the Warband, who collectively choose the figure who shall lead them through war and peace. Those eligible to be elected as the Warband’s Warchief are: The members of House Barclay von Minitz of adult age. The Chieftains of the Tribes of Minitz. The Hochgeehrtes of Minitz. The Speermanns and Hauptmanns of the Warband. Any of those listed may nominate themselves for the position during the Warchief’s election, during which, every Warrior of the Warband holds an equal vote. The Warchief is thus finally elected through a majority vote. THE TRIAL OF THE WARRIOR In order for an Unblooded to finally take Theoderic’s Oath and become a Warrior of the Warband, they must first undergo the Trials of the Stallion, as should all who wish to become Reinmaren tribesmen of the realm. Additionally, after undergoing the Ritual of Blood and becoming an oathed Reinmaren, the Unblooded spend time training on the ways of war, and finally undertake the Trial of the Warrior. This trial is tied closely to the traditions of the Reinmaren and House Barclay, specifically with its founder, Baron Wilheim Barclay, who achieved knighthood in the Haense after stealing the stallions of the Renatian Empire. Those who wish to call themselves Reinmaren Warriors must thus show the same skill as the Baron did centuries ago. The Unblooded will be required to steal the stallion of a fellow tribesman, doing so unseen, and under the supervision of a Speermann, Hauptmann, or the Warchief themselves. Upon the successful retrieval of the stallion, the Unblooded will thus be deemed worthy of taking the Theoderic’s Oath, and joining their brothers-in-war as a Warrior of Minitz. THEODERIC’S TENETS Thus are the tenets that the Warriors of Theoderic shall uphold with their life, their words they shall remember in their sleep and in the wake of dawn. They will be the Warrior’s sun, that brings light to their life, their code and their honor. Let the warrior who violates these tenets lose his honor, and fight to revive it once again. Hear thee, o warriors of Reinmar; hold thee your blood and culture close to heart, venerate your motherland, sing her praise, and fight for the honor of your people. Hear thee, o warriors of Tribes; keep your spears ready to protect your kin, stand by their side, and do not betray your kith. Hear thee, o warriors of Honor; hold your morals high, let them not fall to the dirt of the corrupt, let not your deeds taint your honor, and that of your brothers. Hear thee, o warriors of Warbands; strengthen your muscles and sharpen your spears for the glory of Minitz and your own, don’t let yourself become weak. Hear thee, o warriors of Stallions; the stallion that you mount to battle shall be your most loyal companion, show him the same respect, such is the way of our people. Hear thee, o warriors of Towers; in the wake of battle keep your spear forth and don’t turn your head, fight with your brothers, and don’t abandon them. Hear thee, o warriors of Minitz; be kind to your fellow tribesman, show him loyalty and compassion, don’t use your strength against them. Hear thee, o warriors of Warchiefs; respect your highers, and their command follow, their merit and honor has elevated them, admire them so you can become like them. Hear thee, o warriors of Justice; know the words of the Kanun, and be the bringers of its justice, fight for it with your life, for its word is that of our people. Hear thee, o warriors of Honesty; let your tongues not give the Schwur in vain, if your word of honor you give, upkeep it, or your spirit shall rot. THEODERIC’S OATH Upon undergoing all required trials and training to be enlisted as a Warrior of the Warband, the Unblooded shall finally take Theoderic’s Oath alongside his brothers or alone, in front of either the Warchief, the Herzog, or both. Upon the taking of the Oath, the Unblooded shall be recognized as a Warrior, receive their respective equipment, and be upholden to both their oath and Theoderic’s Tenets. Through the struggles of life I trekked, To the core of my spirit I sailed. The ways of the Stallion I hold with respect, For its trials I took and prevailed. My brothers close I kept, In times of need I shall come to their aid. As my own I accept this tract, To its defense I shall raise my blade unafraid. Through my veins flow the customs of my people, The light of the Kanun shall guide my way. Within me resides the spirit of the Waldenian eagle, A spirit so strong it shan’t know decay. Through my spear will be protected the feeble, Only the wrongdoer will be my prey. My soul I shall keep uncorrupted by evil, Humility I shall know, orders to follow and commands to obey. Thus a Warrior I become, My Herzog to serve. Songs of the glory of Minitz I’ll hum, My oath I shall keep without reserve. 9. DER HERZOGRAT VON MINITZ THE DUCAL COUNCIL OF MINITZ Issued by the Herzog of Minitz in the year of our Lord 1902 SÖHNE UND TÖCHTER VON MINITZ, As the numbers, prestige, and positions of Minitz have seen growth, so too has the requirement of an officially structured government to oversee the due processes within our realm. Much work it has required, but finally, GOTT has blessed us for our labors. It is thus that by the Edict of Herzog Leon Barclay, Duke of Minitz, THE HERZOGRAT OF MINITZ be officially formed, and act as the Ducal Government of the realm. THE MAYOR’S OFFICE: to act as the representative of the Burghers of the realm, the non-Reinmaren residents who fill the walls of Neu Brandthof. May GOTT light our path to a better future, and to our Herzograt’s prosperity and efficiency. GOTT MIT UNS THE DUCAL HERRENHAUS As the most paramount council of the realm, the Herrenhaus is composed of the Herzog’s most trusted advisors in Ducal matters. As the positions of tribal roots, the Lawspeaker and Warchief of the Herrenhaus are elected from among the eligible tribesmen of the realm, whilst the rest of the positions are designated directly by the edict of the Herzog. Each member of the Herrenhaus enjoys their respective duty and authority over their own domain, only bested by the Herzog and the relevant due processes, and shall be bestowed the honorifics “His/Her Excellency”. Each member of the Herrenhaus shall hold their respective Ehrensache, or “Item of Honor”, a ceremonial item that shall symbolize the power and authority of the Herren of the Herrenhaus. They shall be obligated to both upkeep, protect, and display their Ehrensache during official events, thus representing their seat as members of the Duke’s Herrenhaus. Additionally, each office of the Herrenhaus shall uphold its own Heraldry, to represent the office as a whole, and be integrated into the Herren’s own Heraldry if applicable. Thus are the positions, duties and authorities of the Herzog’s Herrenhaus THE HERZOG OF MINITZ The highest authority of the Herzogtum, the Herzog is the Lord of Minitz. It is he who holds ownership of the land, oversees the prosperity of the realm, and has final say in all matters within Minitz. The duties of the Herzog extend to all of the domains of the Herrenhaus and more. It is the duty of the Herzog to delegate and oversee the work and responsibilities of his Herren, to attend relevant Moots, to partake in the oathing of the new Reinmaren tribesmen of the realm, etc. The only time when the Herzog’s ultimate authority falls short is in matters of the election and deposition of the tribal rooted positions of the Herrenhaus, namely that of the Warchief and Lawspeaker. In such matters, the powers of the Herzog are outlined as follows: He shall hold TWO votes in the elections of the Lawspeaker, and is able to nominate up to THREE Reinmaren Tribesmen for the position during elections. He shall enjoy the privilege to call for the re-election of the Warchief once every five years, during which he holds a SINGLE vote in the election of this position alongside the rest of the Warriors of the Warband. He shall enjoy the privilege to call for the re-election of a Lawspeaker after the absence of the current one for more than five years. He shall enjoy the sole privilege to offer final approval for any addition or edict to the Kanun after a vote from the Landtag during a Moot. He shall enjoy the sole privilege to pass law without the voting from the Landtag. Such must be done with the joint approval of the Lawspeaker. The Herzog’s Ehrensache shall be the Herzogliche Krone (Common: The Ducal Crown), a testament of his authority as Lord of Minitz, and a peer of the United Kingdom of Aaun. THEODERIC’S WARCHIEF Elected from the high ranking persons of Minitz, the Theoderic’s Warchief is the highest authority within the Warband. They oversee the leading of the band as a whole, and to have a say on matters of militia and war within the Herrenhaus. Within the Warband, the Warchief’s say is final, and the promotions through the ranks are dictated by them. Similarly, they oversee the recruitment and training of not only Warriors, but the ranks of leadership. During the inception of Minitz, the position of the Warchief could have been held by any tribesman, for the times of war required it so. As peace settled around the lands of Minitz and Theoderic’s Warband reformed, so too is the list of those eligible to be nominated as the Warchief, currently including the following: The members of House Barclay von Minitz of adult age. The Chieftains of the Tribes of Minitz. The Hochgeehrtes of Minitz. The Speermanns and Hauptmanns of the Warband. All Warriors of Theoderic’s Warband, including the Herzog and Lawspeaker shall have equal vote during the election of the Warchief. Thus are the powers of the Warchief in matters of the election of the Lawspeaker: He shall hold TWO votes in Lawspeaker elections, but may not nominate people for the position. He shall hold the privilege to call for the re-election of a Lawspeaker after the absence of the current one for more than five years. The Ehrensache of the Warchief shall be Der Speer von Theodrik (Common: The Spear of Theoderic), a testament of his authority over the Warriors of Minitz and their Warband. THE LAWSPEAKER OF THE KANUN Acting as the personification of the Grand Kanun of Minitz, the Lawspeaker is the highest authority in matters of interpreting the Kanun and delivering its judgment, in such, their word is final, lest the matter is a pardoning by the Herzog themselves, as outlined in the SECOND book of the Kanun. Aside from the Herzog, they are the only authority that may call forth a Mot of Minitz, where matters of law may be discussed and elected from the tribesmen of Minitz. Whilst the Lawspeaker is not obligated to execute the punishments he delivers, for such is the primary authority of the Bailiff, they do hold power to do so. The Lawspeaker is elected from amongst all tribesmen of Minitz, such are their powers in official tribal matters: He shall enjoy the privilege to nominate TWO individuals for the Lawspeaker elections after their own term, but he shall hol NO vote during such election. These nominations can change throughout the current Lawspeaker’s tenure. He shall hold a SINGLE vote in the election of the Warchief. He shall enjoy the privilege to call for the re-election of a Warchief after the absence of the current one for more than five years. The Ehrensache of the Lawspeaker shall be Der Große Kanun von Minitz (Common: The Grand Kanun of Minitz), a testament of his authority over matters of law and his role as the speaker of the Kanun THE HERRENMEISTER OF SAINT TYLOS Acting as the Ritter-Kommandant of the Order of Saint Tylos the Stallion of Reinmar, the Herrenmeister shall be the second highest authority of the Order aside the Herzog, who shall always stand as its Grandmaster. The Herremeister shall look over the recruiting, training, and finally knighting of new squires, to delegate them to their respective Ritter. They shall be charged with the commanding of the Ritter forces in battle. The Herrenmeister of the Order shall be chosen directly from the Herzog from amongst the Ritter of the realm, and shall be given stay within the Herzog’s Castle, further acting as his primary bodyguard. The Ritter of Minitz shall also act as its law enforcers, done so alongside the Lord Bailiff, and pass down the judgment of the Kanun for the minor wrongdoings. The Herrenmeister shall thus also be given the authority to pass the judgment of the Kanun in the absence of the Bailiff, Lawspeaker, or Herzog. The Ehrensache of the Herrenmeister shall be Das Schwert des Heiligen Tylos (Common: The Sword of Saint Tylos), a testament of his authority over the Ritter of Minitz, and a figure of honor and strength. THE BAILIFF OF MINITZ The role of the Bailiff of Minitz is twofold; first as the main enforcer of the law, and secondly as the head steward of the realm. The Bailiff shall hold the power to command the Ritter of Saint Tylos, and with their help bring forth the judgements of the Lawspeaker. Furthermore, as scholars of the Kanun, the Bailiff is granted authority to interpret it, and, in the absence of the Lawspeaker or Herzog, may pass down judgment. As the head steward of the realm, the Bailiff shall furthermore be in charge of upkeep the steward ledgers, to upkeep them and oversee the leasing and selling of property. They shall have authority over their office, to recruit and delegate work to their Stewards and Quartermasters, thus ensuring not only the proper distribution of the properties to the citizens of Minitz, but also the enforcing of laws and regulations related to property. The Ehrensache of the Herrenmeister shall be Der Goldene Streitkolben (Common: The Golden Mace), a testament of his authority over the law enforcement of the realm, a figure of justice and fairness. THE DUCAL HERALD Appointed directly from the Herzog, the Herald acts as a symbolic figure of Minitz. Their main duty is to represent the Herzog, and in extension all of Minitz. They are the very personification of the Duchy, and act as the most trusted carrier of the Herzog’s word in both diplomatic and internal matters. As such, they are expected to hold themselves with utmost dignity, they do not bow or nod to any figure of lower rank than the Herzog themselves. As Herzog’s attendant, they are expected to stand by their side, and, in cases of the Herzog’s entrance, they are to blow their Herald’s Trumpet, announcing the Herzog’s presence through declaration. As the acting voice of the Herzog, the Herald’s work also lies on keeping the citizenry of Minitz informed on important matters. They announce edicts, orders, and otherwise any important announcement presented by the Herzog or his Herrenhaus. As such, it is under their office that both diplomats and town criers work, though none of them would be able to hold prestige close enough to that of the Herald themselves. Generally, the Herald is chosen by the Herzog’s most trusted individuals and advisors, those who are able to uphold their manners and posture in a fashion that brings honor to Minitz, the motherland that they represent. The Ehrensache of the Herrenmeister shall be Die Schwarze Trompete (Common: The Black Trumpet), a testament of his authority over diplomacy and his prestige as the personification of Minitz THE LANDTAG An integral part of the Herzograt, the Landtag is the main legislative body of the realm. Composed of all Reinmaren tribesmen of Minitz, the members of the Landtag act as the second most important council of the Herzog after the Herrenhaus. It is this body of the Herzograt that attends and votes during the processes of the Moots of Minitz. The Moots themselves are held at least once every two years, led by either the Lawspeaker or Herzog, and in cases of emergency other members of the Herrenhaus may act as its hosts. During such, amendments, removals or additions from the law of the Kanun are proposed from the appropriate positions within the Landtag, and thereafter voted by the entirety of the Sitzendes. Furthermore, Moots can be held in cases of emergency or other important matters brought forth from the Lawspeaker or the Herzog. All members of the Landtag shall be required to present themselves in front of the Moots adorning their traditional Reinmaren clothing or their armor. The most important element of this attire shall be the adorning of their appropriate Reinmaren caps depending on their Rank, so that they may showcase their standing. The following are the positions and ranks within the Landtag of minitz, alongside their duties and requirements: THE SEATED: The majority of the Landtag is composed of the tribesmen of Minitz, who hold the title of the Sitzende, or “the Seated”. Those who wish to sit the elective seats of the Moot must: Be oathed as a Reinmaren tribesman of the realm. Be at least fourteen years of age NOT be pending punishment from the Bailiff, or having been deemed an Excluded or a Joshqiptar. Those Sitzende who fall in this category shall be suspended from their seat until their punishment is delivered or completed. Whilst the Seated do not hold the authority to propose amendments to the Kanun lik the Lawmen, they do hold ONE vote in all matters relating elections and further voting of the proposed amendments to the Kanun. THE SCRIBES: Held by only one or two members of the Landtag the Schreiber, or “the Scribe” act as recordkeepers of the Moots. They stand near the Lawspeaker, and keep note of all the laws passed and the names of those tribesmen who have voted. This position is delegated directly from the Lawspeaker or Herzog. THE BÜRGERMEISTER: The Mayor of Neu Brandthof shall hold an elevated seat within the Landtag, and, as representative of the Burghers of the realm, shall hold an additional vote to his own in matters of law. THE LAWMEN: Yet another elected position within the Landtag, the Gesetzmann, or the Lawman is responsible and privileged to amendments to the Kanun, whilst still holding ONE single vote during voting for legislation. Any member of the Seated may nominate themselves for the position by announcing so to the Lawspeaker, and elections are held every four years to elect TWO Lawmen. At the beginning of the fourth year, the nominations for the next duo begin, and any amongst the Seated may run for such, and campaign for their position. The elections are then opened at the beginning of the fifth year, and those elected then join the next Moot as the new Lawmen, to begin proposing laws and edicts. THE CHIEFTAINS: Similarly to the Lawmen, the Chieftains of the Minitzian tribes do enjoy the right to propose legislation to the Landtag, acting as the representatives of their respective tribes. They hold this power for as long as they remain Chieftains of their tribe. Unlike the Lawmen, the Chieftains may send representatives from their tribes to both hold the Chieftain’s vote alongside their own, and propose law similarly to the Chieftain. THE LAWSPEAKER: The Lawspeaker acts as the main host of the Moots and the coordinator of the Landtag. During Moots, they are able to propose their own laws and edicts, delegate work or ask for the Landtag to review the law of the Kanun, or bring forth problems for the Lawmen and Chieftains to work towards. During the Moots, the Lawspeaker also holds a single vote during elections or legislative votings. THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR Acting as an office separate from both the Herrenhaus and Landtag, the Office of the Mayor, or as named in Waldenian, Der Bürgermeister, shall be in charge of both representing and overseeing the needs of the Burgher population of the realm. Differently from the Reinmaren tribesmen of Minitz, the Burghers who call Minitz home are not able to be part of the Landtag, and thus partake in the processes of the Moot. Their Mayor, however, offers them some representation, and, alongside his own vote within the Landtag, shall also hold a second vote for the Burgers of the realm. The Mayor’s office also oversees other positions which are under the authority of the Herzograt, but do not fall under any specific office of the Herrenhaus. These include: The Tavern and the Tavernkeepers The Clinic and the Physicians The Stables and the Stablemaster The Brewery and the Brewerers And any such positions. As such, authority is given to the Mayor over the petty, yet essential positions of the realm, overseeing that necessary goods are produced, etc. As representative of the Burgher populace of the realm, the Mayor is elected from them. Such are the requirements for someone to run for the office: They are an oathed Reinmaren tribesman of Miniz. They are at least sixteen years of age. They are not be a member of the Herrenhaus. They are not pending punishment from the Bailiff’s office, or have been deemed an Excluded or a Joshqiptar, as per the Kanun. The elections of the Mayor are overseen directly by the Lord Bailiff, who ensures that all the voters are of the Burgher class of Minitz, that the voting is done properly, that if so needed, the candidates are able to hold campaigns, etc. Upon election, the Mayor serves a term of four years, by the end of which they may run for the position once more. GOTT MIT UNS, His Grace, Leon Brandt Barclay Herzog von Minitz KRE, GMSTSR Duke of Minitz, Count of Neu Brandthof, Viscount of Tucay, Baron of Boriënwald and Brandthof, Lord of Durres, Harvest Lord, Protector of the Aaunic Heartlands, High Chief of the Reinmaren
  10. Duke Leon grunts as he hears of the news directly from his Ritter with great concern. He huffs then, helping the knight go publish the order of arrest within his council chambers, praying silently that such doesn't happen again.

  13. DER ADLERPAKT THE EAGLE’S PACT Signed by the DUCHY OF REINMAR and the DUCHY OF MINITZ On the 10th of the Sun's Smile, 1902 | 10th of Tov & Yermey, 455 E.S. SÖHNE UND TÖCHTER VON REINMAR UND MINITZ, For many years the Barclay dynasty has expanded to new lands with burning ambition within the hearts of our kin. First as Kings of Sutica through the exploits of Georg I of the Franzian line, later as Counts Freimark through Ernst of the Tylosian line. Two decades has it been since the founding of Minitz, first led by Count Ernst’s son Dietrich, and further transferred to Leon Barclay of the Brandtian line. As the cadet lines of Barclay have spread for their own glory, the House has remained as one, the main line of von Reinmar has prospered and survived through the ages, and Wilheim I now sits on the throne of Sutica and Reinmar . It is thus that the Ducal Peers of the Dynasty find it paramount to ensure the connections between the main line and its cadet be enforced, so that the blood of kin is not estranged. Thus is born the ADLERPAKT. Pledge I - ON RECOGNITION It is thus that the Houses of Barclay von Reinmar and von Minitz do pledge allegiance to one another, as per familial ties. They do so recognize one another’s claims to their respective authorities upon their peoples, lands, and titles. That each of them hold the only legitimate claims to their respective titles, such that: The House of Barclay von Reinmar as the only legitimate claimants to the Principality of Sutica and Duchy of Reinmar, and all their subsidiary titles. The House Barclay von Minitz as the only legitimate claimants of the Duchy of Minitz, and all their subsidiary titles. Pledge II - ON MILITARY ALLIANCE It is thus that the Houses of Barclay do pledge to provide military assistance to one-another in times of turmoil, to rally and raise their banners in support for their kin from external threats. This pledge of allegiance shall fall invalid when it breaks the Vassal Contracts between the Duchies and their respective lieges. Pledge III - ON HONORARY KNIGHTHOOD It is thus that the House of Barclay von Minitz does pledge to Knight the Princes of Sutica as Honorary Knights of the Order of Saint Tylos the Stallion of Reinmar. This shall extend to all of the House of Barclay von Reinmar who shall ascend the Ducal throne of Reinmar and the Princely throne of Sutica from this point onwards. Pledge IV - ON THE CHIEF OF THE REINMAREN As per the history and traditions of their Reinmaren heritage, the Houses of Barclay do agree that the titles of the “Chiefs of the Reinmaren” be held between them. The cultural title of “High Chief of the Reinmaren” shall thus be established, to differentiate between the more senior of the Reinmaren chief. The title shall be held by the more senior Chief of the Reinmaren, following the Reinmaren ways of veneration and respect of elders. The junior Chief of the Reinmaren shall hold a title befitting the nation they are sworn to. Such that the Duke of Reinmar be dubbed the “Chief of the Haeseni Reinmaren”, and the Duke of Minitz be dubbed the “Chief of the Aaunic Reinmaren” upon their ascent. This shall not apply to the High Chief, for their authority extends to all Reinmaren throughout the continent. The Chiefs of each House shall undergo the Trial of the Macken in order to ascend to their respective cultural title, and the more junior line shall attend the Oathing of the High Chief. PLEDGE V - ON TRAVEL AND LEGAL AUTHORITY It is thus that the Houses of Barclay do pledge to allow the free, unrestricted movement of one another’s subjects or warriors in their lands, without harassment or bother, lest the individuals travelling have been found to break the laws of the land. This pledge will fall invalid in when Lieges of the Houses prohibit the free travel of the other House’s subjects or warriors in their territory in times of conflict or war. The House of Barclay do recognize the legal authority that each of them hold in their respective lands. If the subject of a House is found to break the law within the land of the other, the Lord of the land may trial them as they see fit. PLEDGE VI - ON DIPLOMATIC COOPERATION It is thus that the Houses of Barclay do pledge to engage in diplomatic and political cooperation with one another, doing so in good faith, with the aim of mutual benefit within their hearts. Neither of the Houses shall offer political or diplomatic support to any claimants of the other House’s titles or lands, with the exception of justifiable revocation of the Duchy of Reinmar or it’s subsidiary titles by the Crown of Haense; for the titles of Minitz were not bestowed by the King of Aaun, but instead recognized by them. PLEDGE VII - ON DURATION While many pacts are signed between differing nations with their own separate goals, the Adlerpakt is signed between the Houses of Barclay with one mutual goal; the unification of all Reinmaren people under a clear cultural leader. As such, the Adlerpakt is to remain in effect for the entire duration of both the Duchy of Reinmar and the Duchy of Minitz’ mutual existence. In conjunction with this, the Adlerpakt shall be signed repeatedly, as the final act of each subsequent Oathing of the High Chief, it shall feature the signatures of both the Dukes of Reinmar and Minitz, and it shall feature the date of the Oathing below these signatures for the sake of recordkeeping. WER RASTET, DER ROSTET THE FIRST ADLERPAKT OF 1902, SIGNED BY: His Princely Grace, Wilheim II Fürst von Reinmar zu Sutica HRSTSR Prince of Sutica, Duke of Reinmar, Count of Freimark and Kretzen, Baron of Madvon, Freising, and Sigradz, Lord of Wilheburg, Erwinsburg, Freiburg, Neuberg and Rozenfeld, Chief of the Haeseni Reinmaren His Grace, Leon Brandt Barclay Herzog von Minitz KRE, GMSTSR Duke of Minitz, Count of Neu Brandthof, Viscount of Tucay, Baron of Boriënwald and Brandthof, Lord of Durres, Harvest Lord, Protector of the Aaunic Heartlands, High Chief of the Reinmaren
  14. DER LETZTE HOF VON BRANDTHOF THE LAST COURT OF BRANDTHOF Issued by the Herzog of Minitz in the year of our Lord 1902 SÖHNE UND TÖCHTER VON MINITZ, Years have passed since the Ducal work began, a work so great even the struggles of war I have seen cannot compare. A work so tiring, a work sleepless nights requiring. Yet, the struggle has paid off, and the beginning of the construction of Neu Brandthof comes close, for the great architects of our realm have worked day and night, preparing the necessities. My own work, that of the Herzog, has lied in the writing of papers, on the preparation of paramount official documents, the ink of which shall dictate the organization and future of our realm. It is with joy thus that I wish to invite all Sons and Daughters of Minitz, tribesmen and those unoathed who the buildings of Minitz call home, to attend the FINAL Ducal Court that shall be held within the city of Brandthof. The processes that we shall undergo will be twofold. THE OATH OF MACKEN The Oath of Macken shall finally be conducted in Minitz, where Herzog Leon shall undergo the oath of the Chief of the Reinmaren, to don the cultural title of our people. The oath shall be held in the same procedures of old within the Moot Hall of Branthof DUCAL ANNOUNCEMENTS Upon the conclusion of the historical Oath of Macken, the Ducal court of Minitz shall be summoned within the walls of the castle of Neu Brandthof. Many important announcements shall be made, and official documents published for all of the realm to witness, so that they may all know the ways of government and laws of their motherland. Furthermore, positions of high ranking within the Duke’s government shall be delegated and appointments will be made, so that the Sons and Daughters of Minitz may serve her through positions of state. 16. DIE VERBANNUNG VON ORION „DER VERLORENE“ THE BANISHMENT OF ORION "THE LOST" Issued by the Herzog of Minitz in the year of our Lord 1902 SÖHNE UND TÖCHTER VON MINITZ, With a heavy heart I write these words, for they concern an individual trusted and beloved not only by me, but all of our realm. Once a bringer of the justice and fairness of the Kanun, a figure of righteousness and purity, Orion Adler served as the first lawspeaker of our realm. From Minitz he left after many years of service, in what he wished to be a more ‘quiet’ life. Yet, it so appears that such a life away from the sacred soil of Minitz meant for the degeneration of his being, of his soul and his flesh. From the elf’s own testimony to the Ritter and Warriors of Minitz, it has been revealed that he has decided to indulge himself in improper acts by laying with a darkspawn, specifically a Vampyre. Not only is such matter disturbing enough by its own nature, but it was Orion’s own hands that he struck at Teft Ritter von Barclay, thus violating the very Ritter of the realm. It is thus by the Decree of the Herzog, that the once righteous Lawspeaker of Minitz, the one that now has been Lost to the ways of Iblees, Orion Adiler be BANISHED from the sacred soil of Minitz, so that his corruption may not rot the souls of our good men and women. If he is to once again step into the soil of Minitz, he shall be forcibly removed. Furthermore, all sons and daughters of Minitz shall be prohibited from coming into contact with him, thus to avoid the corruption of their soul or flesh by the accomplice of the darkspawn. The Minitzer who so does shall face inspection and punishment. WER RASTET, DER ROSTET His Grace, Leon Brandt Barclay Herzog von Minitz KRE, GMSTSR Duke of Minitz, Count of Neu Brandthof, Viscount of Tucay, Baron of Boriënwald and Brandthof, Lord of Durres, Harvest Lord, Protector of the Aaunic Heartlands
  17. Leon Barclay showed a cut of the paper to his warriors "If you see any men dressed like this tell them: 'Neutrality is your best bet now my friend'"
  18. Leon continued celebrating, enjoying the company of the new Riddlemaster of Minitz and the Lord Vandalore. Reinmaren Golden was being spread plenty. "I'll need three days to recuperate from this hungover." he said in a very Waldenian and equally drunken accent, as was Reinmaren tradition. "All because of Teft Barclay!" he'd cheer then
  19. The now Duke Leon smiled widely as he saw the official letters finally published. Life had been good and Reinmaria prospered.
  20. Hey conor so im calling on behalf of the human resources of minitz and lately we've been having a lot of elves here (my settlement is supposed to be low fantasy dude!!! KCD larp dude!) If you were in my shoes how do you get rid of the stinky elves? Thank you for the advice mr conor
  21. The newly elevated Herzog Leon barclaysmiled as he saw an opportunity to finally fight alongside his family back in Reinmar. He then went to call upon the spears of Minitz with a smile on his face.
  22. DAS EDIKT DER ZAUBERER UND FALSCHEN GÖTTER Issued by the Graf of Minitz the Lawspeaker's Diet in the year of our Lord 1898
  23. "Neutrality is your best bet now my friend" said Graf Leon, quoting a profound Orenian saying of old.
