  1. The day, that day, would one be burned forever into the Hyspian Princesses mind. It’d haunt her dreams, her waking moments, awakening her as her frightened gaze darted about those first nights since. She’d weep and cry and pray, much like she did the day of the siege. It was still all so fresh. --- Princess Sofia de Pelear, merely fourteen years old, had awoken within her recently renovated tower of the Ciudad de Plata palace. The ministrations of day to day life was had, a Lady-in-Waiting brushing her hair, breakfast being delivered upon the table as she sat with her family, uttering out a prayer before breakfast. It was all so simple. Peaceful in its own way, with its mundane likeness to the young girl. It was simple until it wasn’t. Her father, Viceroy Cesar de Pelear stood tall, strong as he rallied the house guard, this coming shortly after breakfast as he was called from their table. They were to protect Haense, to protect their people and ensure the day was not lost. Her guard, her friend, she’d taken Wyn to the side mere moments before they left for the capital. Teary-eyed and frightened, she peered up at him and with all of her usual demands bleeding into one, and her vulnerability and moment of weakness showed, she’d state with no lack of strength to her tone. “If you die, I will kill you.” And so they marched. Armor, it felt so cold against her skin at first. The pieces a bit too big, fitting not quite right as she’d never donned it in her life. Soon, though, that cold turned suffocating. Sweat beaded. Had she ever sweat before? Had she ever felt that sweltering heat bearing down on her? The soldiers gathered, from many a nation, many a vassal and she could feel her heart thudding frantically in her chest. Thump. Thump. Thump. If she hadn’t known better, she may have thought she was running a fever. Her gauntleted hand clasped at her sisters, that feeling all too strange as she felt Veronicas small hand in her own and as the words of her father came down the line, they were sent to the palace to await what may happen. --- And so they rushed. The jostling and clanking of armor sounding, the heavy breaths and pants as they paused in the grand foyer. Fabric rustled, a medic preparing a med-bay for those injured during the siege and footsteps sounded. The Princess Royal was soon leading them, the woman keeping careful steps as it went round and round deep into the crypts, grip ever so tight against the wall and pews, movements tight due to her pregnancy. They’d made it. Sofia removed her helmet, taking in the stale crypt air with shuddering gasps leaving her as she kept close to her sister, worried for her family and friends undergoing the siege outside. They sat upon a mattress, and the scent of blood soon seeped into the crypts, cloying the air and the stench choking up the space. Many a time, a perfume bottle rose, spritzing the area around them but it’d only help so long. Leathery scents adding to the blood, honeyed scents only highlighting it in turn. Then, the prayers began. Never had she prayed to GOD so much in a day and yet, the prayers spilled out, leading the fellow children within the crypts in prayer as the adults spoke in their own corners, worrying over what was happening above. "Saint Edmond, as our soldiers go into battle today, grant them fortitude and protect them. Pray for God to show mercy to the dead, and that in hoping for victory today, we may win the peace tomorrow.” One after another, it’d come forth, whispered and cried as the thudding booms crashed and rocked the ceiling above. Dust and debris filtered down, and more joined them. The Princess Royal, she’d collapsed against the wall and her water had broken. Medics overwhelmed by the injured above, it was the mothers, mothers who’ve had babies of their own previously that saved the day. They led the woman through her birth, even as the cries and prayers of the people echoed around the crypts. And so a little girl was born amidst dread and disaster. --- A meteor struck soon after. It rocked the palace, delivering destruction and renewing the cries and prayers with a fervor. The Princess Royal seized, and the injured were delivered down below as the scent of blood grew only stronger and the children in the back prayed and pleaded, wishing to be with their parents, to go home, to see another day. And yet, the crypt was not safe. The buzzing of bugs within the walls sounded, echoing and shaking the walls. The Haense gates at the front were overtaken. And evacuation went underway. The previously seizing Princess is carried, her newborn baby lost within the crowd as the girl is brought to safety. Sofia kept her hand in Veronicas, frantic whispers sounding as she feared losing her sister in the now converging crowd. One last prayer was said and they were off. Rushing up the steps with Ser Walton leading the way. Coverings taken from windows, the carpets, a dress to protect from the flames raining down. Feverish pleas and cries coming forth from the evacuees, as they made way for Reinmar. Fire. Fire was the first thing Sofia noticed upon the exit of the palace. It overtook the sky in a terrifying kaleidoscope of burnt oranges and bloody crimsons, almost beautiful in its misery. The plop of something wet was felt as they made their escape. Then another. And another. Blood. Blood rained down on them, drenching those in their escape. But they did escape, they made way to Reinmar, taking refuge within yet another basement. This one was smaller. The press of the bodies were all too tight. The stench of blood, sweat and fear clogging the very air as the children of the group pressed close, frightened they may lose each other in the chaos. More injured are ferried in. News came, as her dear friend Wyn entered, delivering more injured. He was okay. Uninjured. Her father is alive. And then he was gone, back off to fight. And news soon came, of the triumph in the battlefield. The group rushed, pushed as they exited the basement of Reinmar, cries of joy and relief sounding as they poured forth in their effort to go home to Karosgrad. Her family made it. Her friends are alive. She is alive. --- As she went home that night, peeling off bloodied pieces of armor in favor of silken dresses and dinner around the table with her family following a prayer, she knew one thing. She’d never think of it as mundane again.

  9. [!] A public letter addressing the Hyspian Public would be distributed to Nueva Tierra and Cartagena It is with a heavy heart and sad circumstances of which I find myself in the position of having to write this letter. Nevertheless the circumstances call for such letter to be written. It is with a heavy heart that I must state that the apostate king of Hyspia has reverted to attacking his own people in an attempt to cling to power. Such attack happened recently on the man of virtue named Carlos Mendez. A man who dedicated much of his life to the nurturing and raising the young prince and dedicated years of his life in selfless service to the Hyspian people. Years of his life of which been repaid by exile, and the baseless allegation of being undead, in an attempt to end the life of one Carlos Mendez. After Carlos was proven innocent Antonio then continued to charge Carlos Mendez with numerous crimes of which he never committed. All in an effort to make Antonio look more powerful and distract from his constant and numerous failings as a leader. So therefore after much time in thoughtful prayer I must cease to even recognize the existence of Red Hyspia and call upon all Hyspians to do the same. Antonio is unfit to be king and lacks the virtue that Cesar Rivera held. Antonio Rivera's crimes are numerous and serious, his reign of terror has resulted in many deaths and attacks on many Hyspians, may GOD bless each and every soul sent prematurely to the seven skies as a result of Antonio's arrogance and selfishness. I was but a young boy when the Canonists first rolled into Osanora to help the Hyspians achieve their sense of identity once more and was ecstatic to have the love of GOD not only enter in my heart but in the heart of Antonio Rivera and all other Hyspians. It was a glorious and happy time, filled with love and optimism. Antonio then crushed those feelings and destroyed that time when he decided to turn his back on the holy mother church, abandoning not just GOD, but Hyspia. I have praid every day sense for Antonio to return back into the light of GOD. Alas, no such day has come. Antonio abandoned the holy mother church for selfish reasons and personal gain, the largest insult to virtue and the people of Hyspia. He then proceeded to send the Hyspians of faith such as the Altamiranos into exile and cast out the Canonist Hyspians out of their homes, their families, their people. How can one claim to be king when he constantly divides and destroys the very people of which he swore an oath to protect and to serve. Antonio has not just betrayed Hyspia, but he betrayed Cesar the man who united Hyspia, little would one know it would be his son to divide Hyspia. When one would think Antonio cannot go any lower, he goes lower, exiling the man who raised and nurtured him through his infancy to adulthood. Then levying false claims against him in an attempt to destroy his name, his heart, and his will. and in turn Hyspians heart, will, and spirit Hyspia will not be broken so easily. Such extraordinary times call for extraordinary people to step up and take the mantel of responsibility of leadership. One such man of virtue and GOD has stood up to help Hyspia, guide it, heal it's people under the guidance of GOD. Such man is Cardinal Francisco, he is the man for the moment. By the grace of GOD Cardinal Francisco helped guide the Hyspians of Virtue to their new home in Cartagena. It is through the grace of GOD that Cardinal Francisco is the rightful ruler and Shepard of Hyspia. Under the guidance of GOD Hyspia shall prosper and it is with a heart full of Joy and optimism that I pledge full and unwavering support to the most Holy leader of Hyspia. Cardinal Francisco. I call upon all Hyspians to do the same to follow the the one true leader of Hyspia, Cardinal Francisco, long live Francisco and GOD bless Hyspia. I now wish that you join me in prayer for a most wonderful and prosperous future. Dear GOD, May we find the strength to overcome this obstacle placed before us. May we emerge stronger and united than ever before, may Hyspia see bountiful harvests and peaceful times. May we forever stay on the path of virtue oh GOD and never stray from it once more. For it is GOD that is most high, GOD that delivers us from our sin, and grants us eternal life in the seven skies, and may GOD deliver us from this crisis and strengthen us on the inside and renewing our resolve to virtue. We ask this in your name. Amen. Peace and long life be with you my Hyspian brothers and sisters. Viva Hyspia, and long live Francisco, the True ruler of Hyspia. Signed, Hernando Altamirano
  10. A Public Letter to King Antonio De Rivera Dear Antonio De Rivera, King of Hyspia. Allegiance It is Carlos Mendez, writing to you from my office in Cartagena. There are many things I wish to cover in this letter, starting with my allegiance. Ever since I was a young boy in Tierra Natal during the reign of Cesar I, I held my loyalty to the Kingship dearly. Yet I have grown both mentally and psychically since that point, I finally see that you are not fit for the title. These words come at a personal cost for me, as a man who based his teenage years off of serving and protecting you, it truly hurts to say these things. The Betrayal Moving onto my next point, I held enough respect to visit your coronation, although my reasoning is mixed, it really holds no relation to you. The way I was rewarded for years of loyalty and simply wishing to leave was a deadly claim against me, that I was undead! This came with no evidence and no witnesses present. An Utterly shameful attempt at murder. Yet you previously knew that the men who claimed me to be undead, are untrustworthy, and instead you believe them over me. Making the bold claim that I am undead, luckily after a quick test by a Norlandic Keeper, this bold lie was proven wrong. Although I still did fear for my life as I was surrounded by swordsmen. I haven't taken this strike quietly Antonio, you falsely claimed me to be undead, a member of the Osanoran and Cartagenan Government. My respect towards you has dramatically lowered since I left, starting with the insults thrown at me when I wished to peacefully leave and continuing with the attempted murder. Renouncement Ending this letter comes with the biggest portion of it, the renouncement of my loyalties to the Apostate King. So I, Carlos Mendez, Lord of House Mendez, renounce my loyalties to the Apostate King Antonio De Rivera, along with House Mendez. Carlos Mendez Head Medic and Warden of Cartagena
  11. THE LIFE AND TIMES OF CESAR I BY, FRANCISCO ALTAMIRANO, CARDINAL OF SUTICA TABLE OF CONTENTS INTRODUCTION I. BEGINNINGS II. REGAL CAREER III. DEATH IV. LEGACY INTRODUCTION This book was written due to my passion for the man widely known as Cesar I of Hyspia. Cesar I was the first Hyspian King, and head of House Rivera till 1795. His reign only lasted 5 years though, but these 5 years were filled with many feats and challenges for the King. This is his story. I. BEGINNINGS Cesar was born on an unknown date in 1773 to an unknown Father and Mother. He would lose his parents shortly into his life, both being lost in a foraging expedition. Due to this, he was raised by the Hyspian tribe as a whole, being taught scripture, military strategy, and proper Hyspian etiquette. These teachings would shape the boy into the man he would become. Cesar would continue to rise the ranks of prestige of the Hyspian social order, becoming more and more ambitious as he rose and rose. Cesar I would make many connections and allies during his time as a boy, not yet reaching the age if 17. He would ally himself with various Hyspian families. When Cesar I did eventually reach the age of 17, the Chieftain of Hyspia would perish to an unknown fate. This would be Cesar's gateway to Hyspian leadership, after the Chieftain died, he became Chieftain of Hyspia due to popular vote of the Hyspian people. Cesar being the ambitious man sought more than just a simple tribe, he sought a kingdom, and once Cesar sought his eyes on something, he would not stop glaring at it. Cesar would convince the families of Hyspia to let him lead them to the south, to the wildlands. Here he would begin the foundations of his kingdom. II. REGAL CAREER After the settlement and establishment of the first Capital Tierra Natal, Cesar declared the Barony of Hyspia. Immediately after, he ordered the construction of a protective wall around the new town to protect it from hostile raiding parties that roamed the wildlands in search of an easy target. After the completion of this wall and the further growth of the Barony and City, Cesar declared the Nationalization of Hyspia. The Nationalization of Hyspia declared the reformation of the Barony into the Kingdom of Hyspia, and the creation of the Hyspian Monarchist Army in the year 1792. A year later in 1793, Cesar created the Steward's Guild of Hyspia which became responsible for the construction, maintaining, and selling of buildings within Tierra Natal. It was in this same year that Cesar revealed the birth of his Son, Antonio Marvolo Rivera, and declared the creation of the Hand of the Crown, which was the second most powerful role in the Kingdom. Around this time, he gave approval for Juan Mendez and Pedro Gonzalez to duel in order to resolve the Mendez-Gonzalez feud. This duel was only to knockout, with Juan defeating Pedro. The approval of such a duel helped to end hostilities between the two men, up until the outrage of Pedro breaking into Juan's home. This led to a duel to the death. After this duel, Cesar's reputation was minorly damaged by some dissenters, who called him a weak ruler. However, Cesar managed to gain respect back after ordering the Hyspian Monarchist Army to partake in the Hyspian Expedition. The Expedition was organized to drive out the small bands of outlaws hiding around the Hyspian realm, and this action again established Cesar as a firm leader over Hyspia. Cesar had started the Hyspian-Bandit war in 1790 by declaring an outright crusade against banditry in the Wildlands, and appointed Juan Mendez to see to the military aspects of the War. After the Hyspian victory in the Battle outside Tierra Natal, Cesar's popularity among the people rose significantly. Though the later Raid on Tierra Natal did cause some mistrust, the raid was not consequential enough to truly diminish Cesar's popularity. Truth be told, this war was started based on a lie. The war was little more than a propaganda campaign created by the heads of the government to show the martial “strength” of the military, though the battles which occurred did happen and Cesar was never made aware of the true reasoning for the bandit raids. Cesar would continue his reign for some months later, continuing to expand the Hyspian state’s power within the Wildlands. III. DEATH (Painting of Hyspian Corte members finding the body of Cesar I) Only a year later in 1795, he would be killed by a disgruntled Hyspian farmer by taking an axe to the chest and succumbing to his wound instantly. Immediately following his death he was succeeded by his Son, Antonio I of Hyspia. He was buried in the exact same spot where he had founded Hyspia years ago, where the first cabin he lived in was raised. The funeral was one of the most emotional of the Kingdom with several of the King's close friends giving speeches about their experiences with the king. IV. LEGACY The legacy of Cesar I are the stories kept in the hearts of the Hyspians, Canonist or not, Cartagenan or Nueva Tierran alike. Cesar I was a true uniter of Hyspia as a state, and Hyspia as a culture. Cesar pioneered the thought process of the modern Hyspian, willing to take action in his own hands, even if they’re grimy and a bit disgusting. Even a Hyspian peasant is as capable of rising to the levels of the great King Cesar ‘the founder’. OOC: Note, this is not my character, this is @Javert's, he has given me permission to post such a thing
