Definitions
In your own words define the following terms. Do not take any definitions from elsewhere!:

Role-playing: To my ability, I think role-play is an aspect of certain games, where a player focuses and creates a character of their imagination, and then using that character in different situations. That said character would have its own details, for example their name, age, appearance and history.

Meta-gaming: I believe that meta-gaming is when a player uses their knowledge instead of their characters. So for example, if you knew something was going to happen to your said character, it can easily be avoided.

Power-emoting: Power-emoting describes the abuse of this system when players use emotes to describe an action that takes away the ability of another player to respond or prevent it. For example:

"James pulls back his bow and shoots Tim in the heart, killing him."

In-Character Information:
Complete the following biography on your character:

Full Name: His full name is Gwilin Telyn.

Current Age: His current age is 24.

Sub-race (if any): Halfling.

Past / History (include childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long): Gwilin was born at a small village, known as Lenfarthing, into a relatively poor, advanced-in-age family. He got fed twice a day, he made friends with the orphans across the way and his upbringing was split his two siblings and his mother, as his father spent a lot of time out on his job as a courier. As he grew older, and his family members gained more responsibilities to earn themselves a bit more money, he found himself wandering into secrets and locations that he should not have been, though most of the time he just heard rumours or instructions that he did not understand. Though, he also did start to hear more of the arguments his parents had. They argued about anything: money, the children, the crime in that occurred in the village, his father’s constant running around. It hurt Gwilin to see them not getting along, but he didn’t see it his place to interfere, especially since some of the arguments were about him, and the other arguments were hard to understand for a child, at times.

In the free time Gwilin’s father had back at home, he taught his little boy how to hunt in the wilderness and taught him how to survive. He wanted what was best for his son, not wanting Gwilin to lead the relatively dangerous life he did, so he gave him this slice of advice:

"Gwilin, you have the whole world before you. Go out and experience it. Be whatever you want to be."

This has stuck with Gwilin as he grew up. Even as the arguments got worse, money got less and food came less often. Gwilin was 13 when his mother left home to head back to her home place. Faraelorn, Gwilin’s brother, went with her. So, in their absence, Gwilin, his father and Borthiel, his sister, were left. With the father’s job, he was still out of the house a lot, so Borthiel would be the main figure to bring Gwilin up for another four years, raising him to be kind-hearted, polite and always grateful for what he had.

After some time, Gwilin’s father didn’t return from a job. Months of worry passed, and still he did not turn up. It was hard for the both of them to determine what happened to him. Did he run away like mother? Did he just lose faith, or find a better woman to start a better life? Was there an accident, was he killed? The two frantically searched for clues, and asked around who they could. All of this to no luck.

Gwilin, at the age of 24, had some money, enough to survive upon. As his father wished, Gwilin up and left his village to explore the world. He wasn’t picky about what he ended up doing, just as long as it was helpful and honest.

Ambitions for the Future: Gwilin would like to venture into the world and meet new people, make new friends, etc. His true ambition is simply to have a good time no matter where he is or who he's with. Even as an elf, he believes that life is too short and should be lived to its fullest.

Personality: If one had to pick a single word for Gwilin, it would be “optimistic”. He is constantly smiling, and has habits including whistling a happy tune, humming, wishing people a good day, putting a good light on bad situations, and breaking into small dances, usually while waiting in a queue or waiting for the sawmill to finish cutting. He never takes anything for granted, is always courteous and never forgets his manners. His optimism can get irritating to other people, and can mean he has further to fall from happiness when something truly awful happens, and that he is easily persuaded into things, as long as he’s reassured things would go well, but that’s all a part of the pure hopefulness he has. And though he is gullible over some things, he is not a complete idiot; he reflects, rationalises and evaluates situations to a degree, and usually has a slightly different perspective from most, due to his extreme positivity. He’s a relatively quick thinker, which is good for his hunting, though it does mean that he can jump to conclusions.

Skills: He is fast and elegant while wielding a dagger, in which he uses when the situation arises. Though, as his father taught him as a young boy, along with his brother, he is also accurate while wielding a bow. He usually uses light armour in his hunting and battles.

Appearance (this must include an in-game screenshot of your skin): Years of chopping wood and working at the mill has defined his muscles; perhaps not immensely, but enough to be noticeable through a thin shirt. His hands are rather hardened and rough from all the wood chopping, and he always has some dirt on his face and leaves or wood chippings in his hair. One of the features that stand out most is Gwilin’s irremovable smile, whether it is genuine or not. The only time it really goes away is if he’s heard some upsetting news from someone. His eyes look honest; a lighter-green tones hugging deep sage irises. He has a narrow face, with high, angular cheekbones and paled pecan coloured skin, with hints of pink.

Open-Response-Questions
Each question in this section must be answered with a minimum of one paragraph which must describe the event in full. Please be as descriptive as possible and do not break character or lore at any point.

1. Whilst in the mighty human capital you notice a dark-clothed figure stealthily making his way towards the Emperor’s palace - he is clearly up to no good. There are guards within shouting distance - what do you do?

Answer:

I think about possibly following him, trying to sneak and get a lucky stop on him. Though, I decide to simply run to the guards instead of shouting, as the dark-clothed figure could perhaps hear me. I manage to reach the guards and quickly explain the issue, and they follow me to the Emperor's palace. As we reach the buildings close to the palace the figure of a man notices us and quickly makes action to escape. After the incident, the figure of the man seemed to have disappeared.

2. Whilst wandering in the deep oak forest you come across a large clearing, in which sits a small cobbled cottage. Outside it stands an unstable old man armed with a small iron blade, surrounded by two heavily armed bandits - they appear to be threatening him. You are armed with leather armour and an iron long sword, how do you react?

Answer:

Worried and small I stood, in shock of what I saw in front of me. I froze, as if I were paralysed in place. The old man looked scared of what might happen to him, and to his small cottage where he and his wife lived. I was unsure of what the bandits were saying, but I hid behind a few shrubs and plants, as height was never an issue. Picking up some stones, I throw them at the bandits, still hidden in the shrubbery. They get a little worried of what might be facing them. Them turning around constantly, worried of what was happening, I manage to sneak, still hidden, around to the side of the cottage in eye sight of the worried man. I gesture for him to react and do something, so he puts his sword through the man's stomach. I then run out and attempt to stab the other bandit.

3. You are standing within the mighty human capital when you notice a small man standing behind a colourful stall. You approach the stall and notice that the man is selling a variety of general goods - he says that he is selling just about anything and that he has no set prices. He is willing to allow you to haggle and choose prices. What do you do? (Explain: your haggling, items of choice and the discussion that happens).

Answer:

I was never too good at haggling and the like, but I was feeling good this day and I decided to give it a shot. I had carried 25 minas with me. I browsed his wares. He had everything from the most delicious food to swords encrusted with gems. However, none of this seemed to appeal to me.

"Sorry, none of this appeal to me I'm afraid." I say, nervously.

The trader responds with, "I've been standing here for hours on end, trying to make a living for myself and my family. If you were to buy just one small thing, it would be highly appreciated."

Instead of purchasing any of the goods, I simply threw a pouch filled with the minas I carried on me at the time.

"Here my friend, it isn't much, but that is all I have at this moment."

Thank you for reading my application, it is very much appreciated.

Posting on the Mine craft forum: It doesn't seem to work for me, perhaps it's a bug? Though I do see other people's posts. When I click post, nothing seems to appear. Sorry.

Please wait for a GM to implement you. Welcome to the Lord of the Craft! One thing that I would point out about Gwilin, though, is that usually halflings use spades and modified farming tools as weapons rather than daggers and bows. Most halflings aren't battle-ready folk.
