-Small 2-3 Sentence Description of yourself: I am a recent graduate from the University of Washington, Seattle with a Master’s in Urban Design and Planning. I love Minecraft because it integrates my love of RPGs (my favorite ever is Baldur’s Gate II, and I loved Elder Scrolls and NWN), with the opportunity to build a city and a world.

-How much time could you be on the server weekly?: I generally play 10-30 hours per week, depending on work schedules, etc.

-How long have you played minecraft?: I have been playing Minecraft for about 8 months (I think).

-What do you know about roleplaying?: I have been playing Baldur’s Gate, Neverwinter Nights, and Elder Scrolls for years. Before that, I played Everquest. Generally, I really like Roleplaying and I love fantasy (I am well practiced playing the Paladin character I have designed here).

-What do you expect this server will be like?: An exciting twist on Minecraft that gives purpose to the mining and building. It provides players with a greater goal toward which to strive (peace, domination, victory, power, etc).

-What other server(s) have you played on and why did you leave them?: I played some other multiplayer servers (small ones, I don’t remember their names). They had poor stability and would crash or the GMs would do rollbacks, destroying days’ worth of work on Obsidian houses.

-Have you read, understood, and agreed to the rules?: Certainly. Rules are like the “natural laws” of a world. All worlds need them in order to support roleplaying.

-Name the 4 races on this server: The primary player races are the Humans, Dwarves, Elves, and Orcs.

-How did you hear about us?: Several of my friends play. We have been looking for a great server to play together on.

-Did you vote?: Yes. Twice. I love democracy.

-What is your least favorite Law?: None, really.

-What is your favorite Law?: No racial discrimination, etc. I believe that this is critical to maintaining a quality game for everyone.

-Character Name: Derrick the Red

-What is your Race?: Human with a Half-elf sub-race.

-Biography: Derrick the Red is a half-elf Paladin of uncertain origins known by the moniker “Derrick the Red” due to his tendency to answer injustice with his two-handed sword. He knows nothing of his background except that his mixed heritage has left him an outcast among both elven and human races. Although over time he has discovered he has skills beyond cleaving, especially in diplomacy. Derrick relentlessly pursues justice for all, although he must often accept charity or rewards for his service in order to live. This role as a mercenary of justice often leaves him at odds with other paladins who belong to specific orders and with his potential employers who do not always have just causes at heart (and may therefore be the subject of their hireling’s ire). As with most paladins, Derrick the Red is the sworn enemy of Undead and will help anyone and everyone fight them.

-Character Age: 50 (out of an average half-elf lifespan of 200)

-Character Appearance: Derrick the Red prefers to dress in the red, black, and white that are the colors of his standard. Although not always armored, he always makes his allegiance as a champion of justice known through the markings on his chest and cloak. He plans to have a new set of cloths made soon.

-Character Personality: Well-spoken if at times reserved. Derrick is more comfortable in a crowd than in a small group. He easily gets along with most good or average people, although he is true friends with very few. Relationships are difficult since he can tell others little since he knows little of himself.

-Your ambitions: Derrick the Red strives to position himself in a role that can better help secure justice. To this end, he works toward the position of Seneschel or perhaps chief Diplomat to the elves, where he can work to unite the kingdoms more closely should the undead and orcs pose a more severe threat to the world.

-Can your character read or write?: Absolutely. He possesses these skills, as would be requisite of a paladin diplomat.

-Can your character mine?: Yes, though he quickly bores of the task (unless searching for enemies within a dungeon).

-Are you a capable builder?: As a soldier, building forts and other utilitarian structures has been necessary. Overall, he has little taste or ability for more in-depth and ornate building.

-Can you wield a sword?: Yes. Sword wielding is essential.

-Enjoy Farming?: Nope. Too slow. Also, only produces vegetables. Pigs are more delicious.

-Does your character have any special skills?: Diplomacy, primarily.
