Birdwhisperer 1174 Share Posted November 12, 2013 Several small pamphlets have appeared around the new elven city. Should you pick one up, it would read... ~*How To Live With Nature*~ Most Mali are accustomed to living in a forest city like Luminaire. A gentle, tame, and hospitable place, practically grown to be a home for Malinor. Unlike Luminaire, Malinor’s new home is a genuinely wild wood, and is in a delicate balance that can easily be disrupted by its new inhabitants. In order to live in harmony with your natural surroundings as Malin had always wished, there are a few simple things to keep in mind. Buildings Always build within the boundaries of the city. Design your buildings to fit the land, do not alter the land to fit your building. Build modestly. Don’t build larger than what you truly need. You can always add on later if you must. Keep your area clean, and allow nature to grow as it would under normal circumstances. Trees and Plants Avoid cutting down trees whenever possible. If you must cut down a tree, replant it. When replanting, do not crowd the forest. Certain trees do not belong in certain forests. Planting a tree that is foreign to the area will either harm the forest, or result in the death of the tree. ((It also looks really messy to have every type of tree clumped together.)) The same goes for farms and gardens. Be sure that the plants do not overrun the native wild life, and keep your gardens healthy and happy. Animals: Tame and Wild Keep your distance from wild animals. Remember that they are, indeed, wild, and this was their home first. Avoid confrontations and do not attack them. If you must keep livestock, be sure they have adequate space, water and food, and that they are not crowded. Consider whether you truly need to keep these animals as livestock. Can you get these materials from other sources? Do you even need these materials? If you are keeping an animal only for food, considering letting them roam free and using that space for a garden instead. In Essence... Be aware of your surroundings and how you are affecting them. Be conservative in what you take from nature, and what you place in nature. Be respectful and intelligent when interacting with wild plants and animals. If you follow these guidelines you will find yourself content and at peace with your new home. The forest is sheltering you, so it would be wise to take care of the forest in turn. If you have any questions or need assistance, contact a druid or write to the Dove Druid Elorna. May Malin watch over you and the Aspects bless.

Orlanden 33 Share Posted November 18, 2013 Orlanden smiles and nods as he closes the pamphlet and places it in his satchel. "As I've always said, nature can touch you without you touching nature. We must learn that we do not own this world. Rather, think of it as an equal, a friend who has given us a place to call home and we should treat it as such."
