Where is it?

Hello LOTC. Me again, I'll keep this simple as it's generally just a question that I hope will be considered long and hard by the staff.

Where's the magic Plugin?

Now before I am assaulted with "time constraints" and "it's in the works" and all that blather I'd like to take you all aside and explain where I am coming from when I say this.

Many of you know that I have access to a magic plugin, specifically I call this /cast or bukkit spells. This is version two of the three plugins I've helped to create on this server in the two years I've been here. However apparently this version has been lost to all but myself apparently as not even Admins are capable of accessing /cast anymore.

/cast was originally going to be the system vaq was going to use. I'll call this version one. Back in Asulon, when those scrolls and everything were popping around. Those were the products of version one, however Vaq didn't want to do the number crunching to help balance these spells seeing how he was only one person, thus the plugin was never truly finished.

Version three is the staff version of the magic plugin, this is the swords, staves, special equipment etc imbued with certain abilities only GMs and admins can access that allows them to "cast" magic spells, such as mass teleport, lightning strikes, fireballs etc...

Now however we're on to version four, Tel's plugin, which is semi implemented, that being the antag magic and the firework effects and all that jaz... however we have yet to recieve any real update since the antag magic release, which has put the antag on a huge pillar of power compared to the average player whom, nine times out of ten will look at the antag today and say "pfft they're only powerful cuz they got special staff bias powers blah blah blah" we all know the song and dance pretty well.

We then have the Aegis plugins, the Ascended and Undead plugin, and the scrapped racial magic system which I don't know if you can still access what that would entail on the wiki anymore.

In total, LOTC has had six, yes, six different versions of the magic plugin. And that is just the ones I've been apart of and know about.

Why don't we look to other servers, I can see that quite a few of them have and have had working, fully fledged magic plugins and systems for a long while.

Are magic users just not important anymore?

Were they ever important to begin with?

It seems like every time there is a hope of this plugin bloody coming out it seems to die off or never get past staff bureaucracy.

Don't we matter as well? I mean, hell how much of the playerbase are magically oriented now, I would've thought that mid Asulon the staff would notice how proportionate the magic community was compared to the rest of the community.

This relatively new "magic users must PVP default" is fine and all but you can't make this choice and then just go "LOL MAGIC PLUGIN STILL IN WORKS WAIT A WHILE".

I think the term "get your **** together" comes into play pretty well here. It sums up what I think should be done.

We've been waiting for a legitimate and properly working magic plugin for 2 years and three odd months.

I think it's long overdue... don't you?

And until something is done about it, I will ask this question, and I will keep asking it. Until something is done, it's not unreasonable, 2 years and three months is a long time to wait and we have been waiting long enough.

Do

something.

Hey, I never said I stopped working on it now did I?

I'm aiming for the 500 spell mark and I'm about 3 quarters of the way there so calm down. :3

It's not like I'm just going to stop once I've come this far. >_>

This plugin has already come miles farther than any other previous magic plugin that was worked on by any past coder. However the difference is, the part where I don't release any information is crucial to this project, because it returns the mystery behind magic and you'll see how/why.

So you'll continue sitting in the dark for a bit, and then you'll be stricken by a holy ray of light and happy unicorns and we'll all be happy. Huzzah.
