Guys,

I have noticed lately, in threads mostly, a lot of comments that are being used as weapons in arguments for certain affairs.

For an example, though I will avoid actual names of people and threads, complaints with villainy, PvP and the Global Moderators lacking of upholding certain rules.

I personally would love to spend my hours on the server making sure that every Tom, **** and Harry are following the rules to a tee, though that isn't viable.

Now, I could say that our manpower is low but that isn't the source of our worries (at least on the Global Moderator's side for what I can tell).

What I believe it is, is simply humanity doing what we do.

Which happens to be have our own opinions and our own personalities.

Why do I say this?

Well, lets put it this way...

We have a calm situation where Mister and Misses RP are taking a stroll to the market, when Sgt. PvP hops out of a bush and demands their possessions.

Now before we go further, at this point we can safely tell that Sgt. PvP is going to call PvP and simply attack, and in turn, either; Mister RP or Misses RP, are going to complain in LOOC.

Right?

Now, if you said to yourself "Hell yeah they are, Sky!" please give yourself a firm open palm to the south side of your back.

It is this sort of thought process which already dooms the situation and puts it onto the track before you even spout your next line of text.

Sure, he may actually call PvP and they may actually complain in LOOC, but never assume that the next person you see will do either but instead just go with the flow.

---

That is one rant down, now to another.

PvP default.

Let us have some examples.

Oh and as a note, I made these up on the spot and none are actual examples that have happened.

Ned Kelly: *approaches the stranger, bearing his sword. "Hello stranger, hand over your money"

Bill Gates: *stands still, eyes widened and starts to sweat. "B...But I have none on me"

Ned Kelly: ((PvP

Ned Kelly: ((5

Ned Kelly: ((4

Ned Kelly: ((3

Ned Kelly: ((2

Ned Kelly: ((1

Ned Kelly killed Bill Gates.

Billy the Kid: *approaches the stranger, bearing his sword. "Hello stranger, hand over your money"

Donald Trump: *stands still, eyes widened and starts to sweat. "B...But I have none on me"

Billy the Kid: *chuckles lightly. "Well then, you may have to pay the blood price"

Donald Trump: *begins to gather his thoughts, breathing deeply now. "P...Please spare me"

Billy the Kid: *takes a step, before swinging towards the man.

Donald Trump: *fires a shot of air towards the man, intending to knock him back.
Billy the Kid: ((Can we PvP please?

Donald Trump: ((Nope, I refuse.

Donald Trump: ((You are such an item hungry person

Now, they show you the incorrect way from both sides.

In the first case, Ned simply called PvP without discussing it and in the second one, Donald refused to discuss it.

Notice the word I used twice?

Discuss.

The following is an example of what should happen;

Bonnie: ((Fighting, RP or PvP?
Steve: ((I would like RP, because I am on a laggy computer

Bonnie: ((I would prefer a fast fight, as I don't have time to hang around

Steve: ((Blah blah blah
Bonnie: ((Blah blah blah

I think you get the point.

The one thing here, is communication and I believe that is a good segue into my next rant.

---

Reports, I've seen a lot of them and have dealt with quite a few, but there is a couple things that stick out to me like a sore thumb every time.

Firstly, it's the part where they have to speak with the person they are reporting and what happens is usually quite sickening.

Too many times do I see people just say what they think is enough to constitute as a conversation for the report or they threaten something.

For the small conversation part, it's almost as if you didn't even try in the first place and because of that, you come off as arrogant yourself for even pretending to try and deal with the situation yourself.

As for the threatening, most of the time it is something like "Give me my items back and I wont BR you" and with this I will point towards the rules, and if you have read the rules, you may notice one saying "No OOC blackmailing".

Well I have news for you, that is OOC blackmailing and if I see that in a report again, I will turn that around and punish you for breaking a rule, asking for your items back with the threat of a report is in no way trying to deal with the situation.

Secondly, though it is very small... It is still a rule... If you aren't on the list of who can post, just don't bloody post... Simple as hell, yet people wonder why they get in trouble.

Yes, sometimes the OP says stuff like "Everyone" but unless your MC name is "Everyone" you are not allowed to post.

The list cannot be vague, at all.

---

I believe that is all I have to rant about, if I have more I think I will store up my thoughts again and explode once more, like a zit on a teenagers face (enjoy that image)

Thank you for reading.

Why must we always have things about PVP default?

LOTC is a RP server with PVP elements, not a PVP server with RP elements.

Just keep it RP default.....

PvP default!!!!1!!!1!!!1!!!

SO if the demand is made, even for good reason if Sgt. PvP wants it Mr. RP has to. I mean yes good RP has to happen before hand, can't just jump to it. BUT!!!!!! PvP can be called and not challenged.

Well said, Sky.

I personally despise PvP default with the burning fury of a thousand and one suns, but I've come to accept it. I've definitely noticed what you pointed out Sky, That being that both parties (People who prefer rp solutions, and people who prefer PvP solutions) handle in character conflicts with little to no finesse, for lack of better phrasing. Pvp defaulters need to remember that this is a ROLEPLAY server, and ample role play need be served before counting down, and people who prefer Rp need to respect the rules of PvP default and not cry on a GM's shoulder whenever a light breeze touches them.

Talk it out people! We're all reasonable (I can assume). There's no reason a fair solution can't be found in a situation which raises ooc disagreement! The GM's already have a full plate, so don't go running to them every time you stub your toe. Lets all try to take a little initiative and solve our own issues if we can. :)

Sky you also did not add in the following to it. AS IT IS A RULE. People are forgetting it.

"Both of you must agree to the type of fighting you're using - PVP or RP fighting. If you can't agree, PVP is default. Before commencing a PVP fight, you must roleplay the leading up to it, and you must also make the other player aware before you attack - e.g. an emote. If there is a mage involved in the combat, then you should RP fight."

This may have changed slightly to the mages part but it STILL exists.

If you are about to fight. AGREE PvP or RP BEFORE you fight. You can not just yell "pvp default". Sorry folks. It is a rule.

But then people will ask to change it mid way. This one i dont really know the verdict on but my thoughts are, if you agreed to it prior, you are stuck with it to the end.
