An Impure Questions Impurity.

 Share

Recommended Posts

Letters were pinned all over the conclave, flyers were placed on the conclave tavern counter, calling out to Aheral, especially ones of impurity. Asking them a simple question.

To all fellow Aheral, pure or impure. "I ask you many things."

"Are you pure or impure? Regardless, why do you Aheral hang around the lesser beings in the conclave? Why have the aheral chose to consort, speak, and create children with those who are not of their races? I thought we were meant to be superior to those who do not carry our blood, yet you all look at them as equals. What has become of the aheral? I wish to know. Why do you choose to defile your bloodlines, traditions? Why do you choose to be cursed with impurity? Why do you choose to disregard your own bloodline? Because of this, even I question the mali'aheral customs.

I wish to know: How are the aheral supposed to behave? Are our old customs gone?

Send a reply to "Purple" via Raven should you choose to answer.

"Because they're archaeic in a time where seclusion means death, and lacking respect for living creatures is a death sentence."

A small reply comes, reading simply, "There was one Malin."

It is unsigned.

*a raven would deliver a note to purple*

"With the exception of a few humans, the only people I hold in high regard are the sons and daughters of Malin, not just Aheral. The conclave is a place for all of elves to live and prosper. Also  those of us who are impure do not choose it, perhaps you should reconsider your wording next time."

Kahlan reads a flyer in passing and stops, her eyes growing a little sad and she lifts up a single lock of her dark hair.

A note is sent to the one called Purple, the scrawled writing in cursive across the page. The note reads:

"Though born Aheral... I was always told of my impurity because of my dark hair. Though it is a family trait that one of my ancestors bore as well, I cannot control how others view myself. I look like my parents, though I do not bear their silver hair like my brother does. This marks me as impure by my own kind. I choose to be around those who are 'impure' because it is the only place I seem to really belong.

I will not go to those who look at me as if I have committed the most heinous of crimes for something my lineage has bestowed upon me. My brother is more fortunate, but I am not. I disregard my bloodline because those with the same disregard myself (save for my brother of course).

Though it saddens me to know I will never know the inside of the city my parents came from, and though I will never be able to get along with those of my kin, I do know that i am happy with my life. I have two beautiful children as a result of this 'impurity' and I will cherish them and the life I have until the last breath I take on this earth. And nothing that my kin say could ever change my perspective.

Signed -Kahlan"

"I was lost, I couldnt find my parents. Then a Mali'aheral tried to take me to a place. On a note it said what race I was. They only said Mali'ame, but they burned the note. But then in my family treasure pouch there was a huge emerald with my parents and race engraved on it. When I was four and came to that place. They dindt accepted me, they lied a half about my race.. They told I was a pure mali'ame, but I am half mali'aheral."

"All pale-skins are the same, weak fledgling-spawn of vile and unnatural origins"

"The souless, maleformed elves, are nothing amidst those of the cleanest and purest elven blood. "

A note is pinned

To give light to confusion of the lesser beings;

Mali'aheral is the valah equivalent to Blessed or Pure Mali. It is a culture of high elves, and not a race. Any impure high elf would not be known as a Mali'aheral. They would simply hold the title Mali, High Elf or Mali'tahu which is elvish for High Elf.
