Emp 209 Share Posted May 9, 2014 Hey guys, I've come here to ask for some advice... I and a friend at school, as senior students, are interested in starting up a lunchtime tabletop game club at our school. I'm wondering if anyone can recommend any good beginner-and-above-level games. I go to a co-ed, Prep - Year 12 Christian school, so, unfortunately, there are some restrictions on what we're able to provide :/ - Not dark, demonic, etc. - Not excessively violent. - No magic. - Relatively easy to learn. - Preferably something that doesn't take more than a few hours. As of yet, I've discovered some interesting options; Pendragon, Talisman, and Dominion look rather promising. From these examples, I'm thinking that something historical, political would be interesting. I'm sorry and a bit embarrassed about the limitations, but I feel like introducing young kids and teenagers to tabletop and RP is a worthwhile effort. Let me know! RK9ify 86 Share Posted May 9, 2014 Yeah, in my school, no one knows what RP is. When I mention 'role-play', everyone looks at me like You could try something like D&D? Yeah know, go old school.

'Twas one of my first suggestions, but the staff... are rather 'conservative'..

DruinsBane 240 Share Posted May 9, 2014 The limitations restrict any good tabletop games besides the classics, but as you're asking us I'll assume you want something more exotic. - Not dark, demonic, etc. - Not excessively violent. - No magic. - Relatively easy to learn. - Preferably something that doesn't take more than a few hours. I don't think its possible really, I'd say just go with the classics. B-ut if you're willing to stretch the truth a bit maybe I've got some suggestions. Magic the gathering Dungeons and Dragons Call of Cthulhu Warhammer Now as someone who is apart of a Christian School, who has had to explain to a teacher that we were not trying to summon Satan with a game of Magic the Gathering. Once you've explain that the game does not involve any dark rights, to the prince of devils, the lord of Carrion. L-ucifer! You should be fine.
