28th of the Amber Cold, 1460

As the Cathedral of Saint Adeodatus’s bells toll for the weekly attendance, Hobs Gullyworth gathers at the back of the room, listening intently to the sermons and activity of the Church. He takes out a small scroll, sighing shakily as he reads over it’s contents. What had been written was sacred to him, only the few things left of his father. Oh, how he died without knowledge of what Hobs was going to do.

But he was never to tell. If he did, a wrath could fall upon him or the men that murdered his father would come after the young Hobs, too. If he was to give his greatest secret away, it may become the greatest threat to Hobs himself. Slowly, after the mass emptied out, Hobs took a lengthy stride down the carpet, looking down in humility before the altar.

It was him and the Priest in attendance, him standing in a slightly confused stance and the sailor nearing the altar, now. Immediately falling to his knees, Hobs’s head tilts to the heavens as he proclaims his sentiment. His hands dig deep into the church carpet as his body becomes but an anchor, his soul showing and ascending through the speech.

“O God, hear me. For there naught be men alive who have not sin in their hearts, so hear this testament true. Let it carry out to all listening and to your heart, O’ my Lord.

Long have I seen thy beauty in the water and the sea; long have I proclaimed your glory across the lands through word and sword. And through word and sword I wish to carry out your deeds…

Through blade, let me act as a vindicator and destroy those who defy thy name,

through mind, let me preach your word to all who may hear so that they may find you as well,

through righteousness may your light shine,

through exhortation may they follow the one True God.”

Hobs takes a stand, wiping a few tears from his eyes. He looks before any onlookers that would be interested to see the ordeal, and the current attending Priest.

“Forgive me, for I did not know the formal process of joining the clergy. But let me proclaim my intentions to do so! So I shall serve the Creator through body, mind, and soul as a member of the clergy. So help me God, that I take him and all of you as my witnesses.”

Hobs inclines his head towards the Priest, turning to walk outside of the Cathedral.
