Out-Of-Character Information

What’s your Minecraft Account Name?: - Intense_Death

How old are you?: -  14.

Have you ever role-played on a Minecraft server before? If so, where?: - Yes. I have played on multiple RP servers over the past 4-5 years.

Ragnarok Chapter 5: Songs of Discord: Jean Valjean,

Fallout: Wild Wasteland: Gary Bousey, Richard Steele, Mister Bliss, Inquisitor Greaves,

Shadows&Daggers: Thin Shawn,

Realm of Gwomath: Timas Brauss, Dervish Brauss, Jean Valjean, Edgar Carrington, Scath, Morgothal Shudder,

The Forgotten Realm (All releases.): Valandil Nenharma, Xanth Perliou, Kaasha Ahdri Khazura,

Lands of Etrar: Jean Valjean,

The Anerian Chronicles: Edgar Carrington,

FellsGlow: Jean Valjean,

The Frontier of Krinvala: Sammael Al'Thor,

Sector 2: Valentine Greaves,

Echoes of the Ancients: Valentine Greaves,

The Wayward Ones: Johann Diedrich

Have you applied to this server before? (Please link past applications): - No.

How did you hear about us?: - Friend(s).

What do you think the server will be like? - I have heard very, very, negative feedback about the server, and some quite positive feedback. And thus, my thoughts on how it will be are quite mixed, I am told my experience would depend quite heavily on who I meet and roleplay with. Despite the negative feedback, I decided I would apply anyway. There's no point judging a server you've never played.

Have you read and agreed to the rules?: - Yes.

What’s the rule you agree with the most?: - The banning of all kinds of sexual roleplay.

Do you understand combat rules, and what you can and can’t do if you do choose to roleplay as a

villain?:- Yes.

Are there any rule(s) that confuse you or don’t make sense? (If so maybe we can help clear it up! You will not be denied for having a question on the rules): - There are plenty of rules that I don't think make sense. One of the main ones being that it is actually allowed for players to roleplay swimming up a waterfall, even though it breaks physics (and it is also illegal to roleplay out making a ladder, or rope, to get over a 2 block high wall, even though the wall is very small.)

I also don't understand the PVP by default rule. PVP doesn't represent IC equipment, skill, strength, or speed. It represents how good someone is at PVP, how good their connection is, and how high their FPS is. Someone could have an amazingly skilled swordsman character, but only get 5 FPS, and thus be beaten in a battle with a 5 year old character with 200 FPS. (Although, I understand large-scale battles being PVP, nobody likes a wall of text.)

I am also confused as to the lack of perma-death, what's the point of killing a character if all that happens is them forgetting dying, and then coming back to life? If I wanted to take out a rival business man, it would be impossible as he would keep coming back to life.

Definitions

What is roleplaying?: - Roleplaying is a rather interesting thing. It involves playing a character (taking their role). The worlds in which you do this vary from game to game, and server to server. It can go through Star Wars games, to Minecraft, to others. While you play as a character, you act out what they say, feel, do, and generally act as if they were a real person. These characters are of your own creation, most of the time, at least.

What’s metagaming?: - Metagaming is the act of using information gained via Out of Character (OOC) sources, and using it In Character (IC). Examples of sources include Skype, Wikipedia, and the Minecraft Forums. Examples of situations can go from things like coordinates of bases, and a character being killed.

What’s powergaming?: - Powergaming is generally defined as roleplaying unfairly, and/or unrealistically. An example would be dodging every attack thrown at you, or striking their opponent every time they attack.

In-Character Information

What’s your character called?: - Kryllaal Fol

What race are they? (And sub-race if applicable): - Orc, Uruk.

What gender are they?: - Male.

How old are they?: - 38.

Give us a highlight of their past, what life events make your character the person they are today? This is your character's biography. It is also required to include server lore when writing. (Names of towns, major server events, etc. Most lore can be found on our wiki.): - Kryllaal Fol grew up in Malinor. He doesn’t know how he came to be there, but he was raised by a large Wood Elf family in the woods. His ‘parents’ often went on trips into town, but Kryllaal was not allowed to come, as he would “frighten the locals”.  Kryllaal’s main job was to cook for the family, and he was taught at a young age. Kryllaal took to this skill with enthusiasm, and was soon making meals; the first of which, the one that is still his favourite, was the pile of salt with a slab of raw meat under it. While he knew how to make gourmet food, and had the skill to make it, he always seemed to prefer plain raw meat, sometimes with salt. Kryllaal spent many happy years learning to cook, and many more cooking for the family.

While he spent a lot of his childhood and younger years like this, he finally started noticing differences between himself and the other people his age. Originally he assumed he was an Elf, as the rest of his family was. But none of the others grew tusks, had green skin, or were so broad and muscular. And he didn’t have their pointed ears, or their grace! Eventually, he asked the Elf who he thought was his father what he was, and got the true answer. He was an Orc. Kryllaal wasn’t sure how to react to this. No one told him he wasn’t an Orc, but he just assumed so because his family was one of Elves.

Kryllaal decided he would embrace this new identity. He would not leave his cooking behind, but he wanted to learn how to fight, to speak Blah, and about Orcish culture. The former, he learned from his family. The majority of the men were skilled with swords, or bows, or some sort of weapon. But for the latter two, he would need a different teacher. And thus, he set out into the world, and went to find some Orcs.

He did find Orcs, though they greeted him in Blah and head-butted him. After an awkward introduction, the Orcs realised how little he knew. He didn’t understand what was said to him, or why he was head-butted. The first thing they did was laugh at him, before giving him a few tips. He was told the basic greetings in Blah, and how to greet each other with kicks, punches, and head-butts. After this they began a proper effort in educating and culturing him about the Orcish ways and he learn much from them. But, after many years of travelling with his new found Orcish friends, he decided it was time for him to leave. He did not know where he wanted to go, but he decided he would find somewhere where he could cook. And thus, Kryllaal’s true adventure begins.

What are they like? (Personality): - Kryllaal is friendly, for an Orc. He considers himself a pacifist, though he has no idea what the actual definition is. He simply tries not to hit people when he’s happy. He is very protective about his cooking, and hates negative feedback of any form about it, and he usually ends up being grumpy if he receives any. When he is pushed to anger, he doesn’t just become a bit angry, he becomes very angry, and often resorts to violence when such a mood takes him.

What are their ambitions?: - To live a (somewhat) peaceful life as a chef, and still maintain respect from the rest of his race.

Do they have any special skills? What are their weaknesses? (Try to list a few of both): -

Strengths – Fluent in both Common and Blah (though he struggles with the pronunciation of Common). He is skilled in fighting with a sword, or blunt weapon, coupled with a mediocre skill at marksmanship. He is also an excellent cook and hunter. He is educated in the culture of Elves and Orcs.

Weaknesses – He has a tendency to serve raw meat covered in salt. He cannot read or write. He is ignorant of a lot of History, along with Human and Dwarven cultures.

Give us a description of how they look?: - Standing at 8’7” and weighing nearly 400 lbs, Kryllaal is a huge mass of chiselled muscle. His chest is big, as is his abdomen and his arms and legs are like tree trunks. He has a large nose, and eyes that look rather small in comparison. His tusks are low hanging and huge, sticking up from the bottom of his jaw. They appear to be quite sharp, as do his large canine teeth. Kryllaal has no hair on his head, and the top of his head usually seems rather shiny. He has no tattoos adorning his body, but he does wear a white apron and a chef hat; along with a white shirt and brown trousers.

(*Cough* Fringe, not Anthos.)

Please wait for a GM to implement you! Congratulations. Now, I will launch into your questions and some comments.

Greetings from LotC! I've been on TAC and The Wayward Ones, as well as the previous one, The Silver Age. Your confusions are because that even though both TWO and LotC are roleplay servers, they have very different playerbases, customs, and rules. Here is to your PvP default question:

When dealing with a large playerbase, large fights can erupt out and with the constant flow of villains these fights can be common. Too often has the playerbase witnessed fights lasting 1-2 hours with the opponents barely getting scratches, because quite frankly they both want to win. Not always is a fight involving cooperating, mature individuals. PvP default can be called to resort and solve this. To the cliche "all it requires is clicking and internet"... not really. I've matched up against people with the same "clicking speed" and internet as me, however there is skill involved with PvPing.

PvP default can also solve things such as making a character that is evidently a master swordsman. Obviously some players will pace themselves, starting from the bottom and working their way up. When dealing with a playerbase as large as this, it isn't evident all will do this. PvP default /is/ a measure of skill and can be translated IC. When beginning to PvP, you absolutely suck and will be a beginner swordsman/archer/whatever IC because of the fights you lose. Your skill can progress with your IC achievements. Now we move to perma deaths...

Killing your character permanently is difficult. Especially if you have been playing that character for three years. Especially if you have learned magic, become a good swordsman, retained a vast estate, etc. With the smaller type roleplay servers, those last at the maximum a year and don't have a huge playerbase. Thus, few of these achievements are available to them and put less value and protection over your character. Its a touchy matter where you can run into a fight every day, or every hour if you are especially military. And when you lose a fight whether it be RP or PvP, PKing every single time will quite honestly break the server. How would you feel if every person on the server (200 on at a time) cycled out their characters every few days because they lost this one fight? It would be hectic and nothing would be stable.

There is an honor standard when it does come to PKing; sometimes if nation leaders are legit killed whether it be duel or assassin or whatever you name it, by the good of their minds they'll PK. And it really does come down to whoever you encounter in the game. Because of the diversity of opinions and people of LotC, these rules are necessary to essentially keep the peace and make everyone happy, because evidently there will be more sides that prefer RP fighting and more sides that prefer PvP.

tl;dr: PvP is to resolve situations quickly and resort OOC disdain with potential powergaming, etc. Respawning at cloud temple is so that every other fight you engage in frequently (depends on who you are) doesn't PK every single time.

Hope this answers your questions, I apologize for the length. I must note, if you are coming to this server purely to judge, there is a new map coming out within the month with many plugins including Magic that will redefine the world as we know it. I suggest waiting out till then. Good luck!
