The Halfling's Spring

Morning rises all across Shortwood and the sunrise seems the same except for one thing... it's Spring.The birds can be heard chirping, bugs can be seen swarming nearby flowers, and small halfling children play in the warmth of the sun. Halfling's of all shape and size emerge from their burrows and bask in the radiating warmth.

As the first few venture out unto the newly dewed upon grass, the mud and melted snow stick to their feet. More and more halflings take their first step into the new spring, some run over to the farmlands to till the soil, while others, rather stupid ones, head toward the lake and breathe onto it in an attempt to thaw it out.

Crops can be seen sprouting all along the country side and farmers tending them. The single men, incoherently, saunter in and out of the Shortwood Inn after a long night of drinking and games. And the thought of the impending war with Malice and his brothers almost slips the mind of most.

Spring has sprung in Shortwood.

Toto pulls out his pipe and relaxes just outside his burrow, enjoying the sight of dumb halflings breathing on ice. A very faint scream could be heard inside the burrow from his slaves. "Heeelp Ussssss"
