*Once again, neatly written letters are to be found about Haelun'or and the other Elvish settlements.  Once again, they are placed in the less-traffiked areas, presumably because there the poster had less trouble remaining unseen.*

To whom it may concern-

Those whom are not sheltered under a rock or in a high northern valley at the present moment in time are no doubt aware of the existance of a 'Council of Splinters,' who mean to, by unknown means, unite Elves of all races and backgrounds into a nation of old 'freedoms.'  This is an admirable goal, and though they do not approach it in the manner I believe is advisable, it should nonetheless be considered a morally sound and generally good movement.

Elves are, for reasons unknown, those creatures most valuing of their freedoms.  We have no peasent class oppressed, downtrodden and silenced people, as have great sections of Oren.  We keep no slaves, unlike the Orcs.  We do our best to keep a free economy, and though our government had, at one point, attempted to implement a Socialist system, we may pride ourselves on not falling to the level of regulation held by the Dwarves.  Of all our people, it has been only the High Elves who wish to encumber themselves in weighty laws, regulations, statutes, and concords.  And, for better or worse, the majority of the Elvish population has submitted itself, voluntarily or involuntarily, to the domination of the High Elves.

However, it must be noted that Anarchy is NOT an admirable goal, and I must give my strongest caution to the members of the Council of Splinters who must be ever-watchful that, in their search for freedom, they do not overmuch deregulate and so let in the malignerant influences of Anarchy and Chaos.

Yet Mr. Kalenz has shown himself to be a Tyrant, one who would wage war, destroy and kill for preservation of his inflated ego, to benefit none but himself.  He has said, on multiple occasions, that he cares little, if at all, for those who are not High Elves and furthermore has, on further occasions, stooped to mock and ridicule those who are not of his race.  Should an Elf such as this, who has show his complete lack of concern for anything but the inflation of his power and attempted to justify and conceal the aforementioned drive with the invocation of marginally sensible and otherwise twisted moral perogatives, rule all our people?  The Council of Splinters has answered with a resounding no.

Even so, as we leave him, our heartfelt thanks should be given to Mr. Kalenz for the preservation of our race after and during the fall of the Conclave.

It is perhaps helpful to think of the Elvish people as a piece of shale--a type of rock which, though useful, splinters under pressure--for, if handled gently and perhaps given an edge, we have uses.  Yet when the pressure upon our metaphorical piece of stone increases, through the hand of Agents of Government, it shatters.  The harder it is gripped, in an effort to keep these shards within the rock, the more pieces fall.  Even so, when the maligering forces of Chaos and Anarchy remove the hand which holds the stone it falls and shatters upon the ground.  A perfect balance must be acheived.

I am,

Yours Truely,

O. Sylvanus Treemail~

Sorensil runs a finger down the letter, smiling as she does so. She gives a nod towards it, and a small flower blooms near the writing. She comments aloud, "What a talented writer. He has said what I have been unable to."

Turronidan weighs in on the conversation.

"Aye, while Mr. Treemail is indeed a good writer, I do not agree with his ideas. I have enjoyed my rights as an Elf in Haelun'or for several years now and I have never faced oppression which is described. The High Elven folk most often allow me the right to enter their city, and socialize like just another man... even though I am the lowest of the low -- a humble, dirty lumberjack! While High Elves are constantly berated for being pompous and prideful, this argument runs dry for I am an example of the opposite! Sohaer Kalenz has been wonderful to me and I am eager to serve him... the High Elves of Haelun'or have been charitable to us lesser Elves, we should be grateful and not threaten a large schism between our kind! They have brought us to the light and show us the right path after we previously showed we could not on our own. The state of Haelun'or has lasted powerfully and fluently since the realm of Asulon... can we Malinorians and lesser Elves say the same?"

Ikur blinks a few times at the statement of the loyal Mali'ame.  "We accept you because you're a pleasant man. A pleasant man who works tirelessly and adamantly for the state. We would be fools not to appreciate such a noble example of a Mali'ame."
