Watyll 1104 Share Posted July 23, 2014 Along the road to the elven city, one would find a standing stone. A monolith. It's surface is smooth, almost polished. One might wonder, where did it come from? It certainly was not there yesterday. Upon closer inspection of the smooth rock, one would find markings etched into it. They are confusing, and if one would stare at them for such a time, their eyes would begin to hurt… That is, if those eyes were untainted. There are those that can read this stone, read it without it harming their eyes. It is as clear to them as if they were reading common! Such beings are not ones that anybody would enjoy running into on a dark night. Or in any scenario for that matter. The markings are in al'Roshak-Durngo. The Black Script. Any that can speak al'Tahrn-Durngo, the Black Language, can read al'Roshak-Durngo. Basically I got bored and decided to play around with the Black Language and hugo's awesome font for it. So I wrote up a little poem/prophecy. I know that the number of people speaking the language is growing, so I have a little challenge here. Anybody that can translate this poem into English using the font made by hugo and the actual Black Language thread wins a fabulous prize. The rules are simple. 1. You must have a character that speaks the Black Language. This requires following the rules for being able to speak the language in the first place. 2. You must respond with your translation on this topic, in rp. Recite it to a crowd or something, or a lullaby to your evil offspring brood. Idk. The prize, my dear friends, is that if you win, I'll add either your character's name or your mc name to the Black Language thread and make it so that it means "Sexy Beast" in Black Language. Tell me you don't want that. Translate away!
LaCabra (Soda) 1519 Share Posted July 23, 2014 As Watyll nears the great stone monolith, a deep thrumming whisper sounds... With it, the smell of manure, of cake, of fishing by the river, of ale in the Drunken Sheep comes... "Dofurrr Riverfooooam... Must... Retuuuuurn..." Mephistophelian 977 Share Posted July 23, 2014 Lorien looks at the stone and smirks, slowly walking up to it as he wonders out loud "What is this doing h-" His sentence is cut short, and his smirk suddenly slips from his face. He looks around frantically for a moment before stumbling back and landing roughly on his bottom, staring at the stone with a face of severe discomfort. His eyes are consumed by what looks like complete darkness, and dark mist rolls down from them like gruesome tears. A maniac smile spread across his face, now holding two black spheres instead of eyes, and a twisted, gnarly voice hisses out foreign words. "Al’nimdravur daz’granom tavi al’pelosr-ka du((should be zu)) al’nei Aqunui al’ikaya daz’valkar, urk’chak eg brikas Al’savurr daz’saunor eg al’numeno zu’darkul Aqunui al’bilneth daz’mun eg al’ithurzu Yunya gatar-talsh godar al’chol-zow Hraz thur’daz’reeyad bovur al’allvur zu al’torgo Rekari overrdalk-talsh minev nal’sek gathan Nal’sek trun daz’pursu kon tursk-sinle Eg nowa-sinle zu al’zubguglar talsh nal’sek sidarn lerikah kuram((should this be here?)) ag’sprek Al’hualthol-ka zu al’reiz-avtu-ka kuram-talsh ag’shatchar Zordveel, Borsh, Pruzzal, Sthor, y-sek((should be y’sek)) akra-ka brol-lerikah Undere tavi y-sek((should be y’sek)) basular y-sek((should be y’sek)) chol-ka hettar-lerikah Savurr-e daz’abovul varrik nal’sek valasga-serthekhna Savurr-e daz’sprek varrik nal’sek zpekar-qaril Savurr-e daz’preda varrik nal’sek fikt-sisem ((What are the -e parts for?)) Undere yunya agonsh-talsh eg dakzolarrg frerhur" After spitting out the words, Lorien slumps down on the floor, unconscious. A few minutes after, he gets up, groaning. He rubs his temple and his now turquoise eyes gaze at the monolith, as he swears softly. Frantically, he scribbles down what he can understand from the words that he had mysteriously spoken. He pockets the paper and walks away quickly. Written on the paper in his pocket is this:"The void is eating at the souls a((should be ‘of’)) the blind Whilst the watchman is sleeping, frozen in time The master is watching in the dead of night Whilst the guardian is waning in the fading light All shall submit to the fading hand As it stretches over the whole of the land None shall rise against his/her power His/her strength is growing with every hour In every corner of the world shall his tongue will((should this be here?)) be spoken The covenants of the descendant races shall be broken Human, Orc, Elf, Dwarf, their minds will shatter And at their bond their hands will beat/batter Master(-e)is ruling from his/her darkling hall Master(-e) is speaking from his/her silent mouth Master(-e) is readying from his/her crystal prison (what is this –e thing?) And all shall quake in joyful madness" ((Myeheeheh, simple task. I'll get it done by dawn. Was NOT easy, but I managed to do it quickly. I can now read it pretty well (my script). For the record, I posted this before Zarsies did his. Just saaaayyyiiiinnng xD. Also, I posted any questions I had on the language on the poem itself.)) CaptainSheepy 317 Share Posted July 23, 2014 ((Congrats, as I was typing this you beat me to it! Near the end, reading it became really quick and easy! Awesome job with this you two!)) As Archmage Ceruberr strides along the main road on his occasional trip to Haelun'or, he pauses for a moment, glancing over to his left. With a gentle frown, he cautiously strides towards the strange monolith. His frown deepens as he runs his slender fingers down it's smooth surface. Suddenly, his hand grasps tightly onto it's side. His entire body seems to freeze in place as his hands clamp themselves onto the stone. With a small growl, Ceruberr's eyes slowly lose their colour of green and become an abyss of darkness. The shade comes forth. As his eyes scan over the text, he seems to spit out each word in a sinister tone. "Al'nimdravur daz'granom tavi al'pelosr-ka du al'nei Aqunui al'ikaya daz'valkar urk'chak eg brikas Al'savurr daz'saunor eg al'numenro zu'darkul Aqunui al'bilneth daz'mundu eg al'ithurzu-zow Yunya gatar-talsh godar al'chol-raja Hraz thur'daz'reeyad bovur al'allvur zu al'torgo Rekari overrdalk-talsh minev nal'sek gathan Nal'sek trun daz'pursu kon tursk-sinle Eg nowa-sinle zu al'zubguglar talsh nal'sek sidarn lerikah kuram ag'sprek Al'hualthol-ka zu al'reiz-avtu-ka kuram-talsh ag'shatchar Zordveel, Borsh, Pruzzal, Sthor, y-sek akra-ka brol-lerikah Undere tavi y-sek basular y-sek chol-ka hettar-lerikah Savurr-e daz'abovul varrik nal'sek valasga-serthekhna Savurr-e daz’sprek varrik nal’sek zpekar-qaril Savurr-e daz’preda varrik nal’sek fikt-sisem Undere yunya agonsh-talsh eg dakzolarrg frerhur." A few moments after the completion of the reading, Ceruberr falls to his knees. He sits there for while, his breathing eventually returning to its normal pace. He raises his now emerald eyes to stare at the monolith. The words seem to take form..? "The void eating at the souls of the blind Whilst the watchmen sleeping(sleeps?), frozen in time The master watches in the death of the night Whilst the guardian wanes in the fading light All shall submit into the chilling hand As it stretches over the whole of the land None shall rise against his/her power His/her strength grows with every hour In every corner of the world shall his/her tongue be spoken The covenants of the descendant races shall be broken Human, Orc, Elf, Dwarf, their minds will shatter And at their bond their hands will batter Master(e?) is ruling from his/her darkling hall Master(e?) is speaking from his/her silent mouth Master(e?) is readying (?) from his/her crystal prison And all shall quake in joyful madness." As Ceruberr concludes reading the stone. He gingerly gets to his feet and makes his way home. Mulling over the words as he does so. Mephistophelian 977 Share Posted July 23, 2014 ((Good translation, Sheepy. And yeah, I agree with you; in the end, reading the script becomes second nature. At first tho....ooffff... Also, I completely forgot to emote similarly to how you did. Durrrr. I will edit that in later, when I am less lazy and when I am not on my ipad.))
