Have you ever roleplayed on a minecraft server before? If so, where?: - I’ve roleplayed for almost a year on minecraft now, starting on Romecraft: Legacy, a Roman RP server, and then moving onto Rymora and Gildorym, the former a medieval style setting and the latter a D&D one. Recently, I’ve been Admin of Tyrenale for a few months with Lyonharted, who now plays here, due to the recent disbandment of the server I heard about LoTC and decided to give it a go.

 

Have you applied to this server before? (Please link past applications): - 

 I have not applied before.

 

How did you hear about us?: - After Tyrenale shut down the other admin, Lyonharted, suggested this server to me so I guess I would attribute the find to him.

 

What do you think the server will be like? – Due to the number of players on this server (I normally roleplay in much smaller groups), I hope it will offer an entirely different experience.

 

Have you read and agreed to the rules?: - I have.

 

What’s the rule you agree with the most?: - I like the war rules and those for raids/skirmishes, particularly the one about no returning to your death point within thirty seconds as I believe it combats metagaming.

 

Do you understand combat rules, and what you can and can’t do if you do choose to roleplay as a villain?:-I do, though I do not plan on rping a villain.

 

Are there any rule(s) that confuse you or don’t make sense?(If so maybe we can help clear it up! You will not be denied for having a question on the rules):- Nope, I’m good with all of them.

 

Definitions

 

These terms are a major part of the server and in a few of our rules. Please define them so that we can get an understanding of how much you know about roleplaying. Feel free to Google the answers or check on our wiki, but make sure that you write the reply in your own words, not those of another website or person!

 

What is roleplaying?: - I find the easiest way to describe roleplaying is as a form of acting, where you play a character within this world(stage), and in some ways “become” them, thinking as them, acting as them, and putting yourself in their position. To put it rather simply, it is playing a role. (Hence the name I presume).

 

What’s metagaming?: - Metagaming is where you use knowledge obtained OOC (Out of Character), IC (In Character). For an example, I would say it is again similar to acting, if you knew that your character was going to die in the next scene, and then pretended that your character in the play already knew this, that would be metagaming.

 

What’s powergaming?: - Powergaming is an attitude to gameplay where you ‘play to win’, trying to play a bit like an RPG where your character is the sole focus. I find in minecraft the typical way of powergaming is by using emotes that it is unable to respond too. i.e. “Bob swings his sword at Steven, killing him instantly”, a better emote that wasn’t powergaming would be “Bob takes a quick swipe at Steven, aiming for his jugular artery.”

How old are they?: - 27

 

Give us a highlight of their past, What life events make your character the person they are today? This is your character's biography. It is also required to include server lore when writing. (Names of towns, major server events, ect. Most lore can be found on our wiki.): - 

Augustus was born on Anthos as the third son to a large house of peasants, his father a local leatherworker, and his mother a servant in the local Lord, Oliviar de Savoie’s, house. His father felt a slight entitlement over the rest of the small village (even if no one else thought he did), due to the fact that his father was supposedly a knight of the Order of the White Rose in its earlier days, before perishing in a small-scale skirmish.

 

At the age of three, Augustus was subject to his first experience of loss, one that most peasants are used too. His eldest sister was lost while breaking her curfew to explore the woods and never found again. His father and mother were despondent in their rooms for the next week, but it took him a few days to fully realise what happened.

 

When he reached seven, he travelled with his father to the nearest town, and visited a library for the first time. Neglecting the opportunity to watch the local soldiers train in their yard, which his four other brothers who were accompanying took the chance to do, he spent the entire day in the library, working his way around the stories of heroes and monsters. (His mother had ensured that he, showing a larger aptitude for learning than any other of his kin, had received sufficient literary education).

 

Soon after that, his father, unhappy with the fact that Augustus tended to spend most of his days indoors, reading and re-reading old books which he had haggled off other villages for extortionately low prices, decided it was time for him to love his father’s craft, as his two elder brothers were currently doing. After that he spent most of his childhood outside, slowly fashioning armour and scabbards for when the Exercitum Imperium called in to the village, where they made a goodly amount of coin selling these items to the soldiers.

 

Over the next few years he experienced little events of any importance, spending his days either sweating in the blistering sun, cowering in fear of Orcish raids, or bent over a book in a dimly lit room, quickly devouring it of all knowledge.

 

However, at the age of sixteen his life was ripped upside down, when bandits raiding the village rode down his father. Suddenly the family no longer had a head to guide it through the years, but his death proved in some ways a lesson to Augustus. He watched as his eldest brother stepped up and took over all of his father’s previous responsibilities. And Augustus observed how things like this, changes in one’s habits or responsibilities, and in many cases the acquisition of power, can change a man drastically.

 

After two years though, he found the world had changed. Suddenly he had reached the age of manhood, and he felt free. He took the opportunity with both hands, and left behind his family life of constant work, to travel. He felt free. For the first few years of his travelling, he visited smaller settlements, met tiny lords, and even in some cases observed the Imperial Army/Exercitum Imperium, and it’s Marshal, Vibius de Sola, while parading or performing marches.

 

After several years of travelling, taking the opportunity to expand upon his current knowledge and literary skills, improving both, he settled down with a childhood friend in Kaledonia. Taking the opportunity of being so close to the home of the Imperium, Augustus began to compile his knowledge and write a book upon the origins of the Imperial House of Chivay.

 

However, as he compiled research and began to write the book, he saw the many links between the current Imperial Peerage and Council, and the old Order of the White Rose, and the book transformed from not only a treatise on the Imperial House of Chivay, but also including a short history of the Order of the White Rose, and a summary of the current Imperium.

 

Finally finishing the book at the age of twenty-seven after researching for four months The Battle of the Dreadfort, Augustus set out into the world from the safety of Kaledonia; hoping to acquire more knowledge, and perhaps power as well this time.

 

What are they like? (personality): - Augustus is not an aggressive man, nor a fighter.  Having enjoyed learning over scrapping, and examining books and figures he has a rather introverted or sheltered personality, though that being said, in recent years while he has travelled more, he has shown himself to be rather gregarious. He tends to be diligent with tasks that he wishes to succeed in, but when given a task by another he often discovers ways to put it off and procrastinate. Prone to bouts of anger if provoked, Augustus’ mood swings like a pendulum. If given the opportunity, he tends to prefer staying inside than going outside, and reading rather than exploring or performing manual labour of any sort.

 

What are their ambitions?: - Augustus desires knowledge, the acquisition of it through any means necessary. He does not however want knowledge for knowledge’s sake, or merely for knowing it, he believes that knowledge is the sure-steady route to power. He hungers for power, as he believes that it can provide him and his family comfort, which to him is the most important of things in life. Having grown up in a large family and seen his parents struggle to fully support the growing number of children, he believes that it is his duty to support his family as well as he can.

 

Do they have any special skills? What are their weaknesses? (Try to list a few of both): - Augustus has found himself over the years to have far more scholarly talents, skilled with numbers, research and reading over most normal peasants, he has developed these skills due to a rather scrawny physique and a lack of any type of military training. With an eye for the acquisition of power and knowledge he will stop at nothing to gain these if he sees an opportunity, but finds attempts at such opportunities assisted by the fact that he has proven himself to be a natural diplomat – even if he is a more introverted fellow.

 

Give us a description of how they look?: - Augustus stands at a fair height of 5’11’’, what he sees as a perfect height. With a muss of dark brown curls he has an almost boyish round face, with a charming if slightly crooked smile. His striking blue eyes have a slight white defect, giving him a rather piercing stare. Being a rather bookish/scholarly person, he is not the most physically developed of men, more lean than stocky.
