Mephistophelian 977 Share Posted January 4, 2015 ((Warning: Might contain a bit of gore-like features that could upset a light reader)) It is dusk. On the road leading to all places, a man walks. To onlookers, he would have raven black hair falling over pleasing, turquoise blue eyes. A permanent, calm smile would be upon his lips; that of confidence. To the casual observer, it would seem he has no fear for any, be it the threat of bandits, the danger of assassins or the lurking shadow of Iblees. No, this one appears confident in his capability of dealing with it all. In all contexts, this man carries Lorien’s features. And Lorien is a wanted man. The High Elf continues down the road, the source of his confidence seemingly apparent to one who knows Lorien; the mighty shade he may draw his magics from, in time of need. And yet, out of the shadows, a cloaked man leaps out. Silent as the whisper of night, he lands onto the High Elf. The deep, gurgling cry of Lorien escapes his throat as the to-be killer slams a solid batton of wood into the elf’s face. Blood sprays onto the ground as the man, guilty under the claim of being a shade, slumps down; face horrendously disfigured. Both eyes ruptured, with jelly-like liquid sliding down his face, and a nose broken an yanked to the side. Observers cry out in shock as the hired blade, Helrin, smashes the face yet again, leaving an unconscious mush of broken bones and cartilage, and yanks out a dagger, which is promptly sent deep into the High Elf’s chest. With a few, horrid shakes, akin to a dying spider, the man dies. A swirl of cloaks and daggers announces Helrin’s departure, just before the nearest observer could scurry up to the fallen man. It was not with a glorious fight that the man known as Lorien died. It was not in a flurry of tendrils and gore, nor a majestic battle of magic. Nay, it was a mercenary, fast and effective. That is the last this world will directly hear of the name ‘Lorien’, for a long, long time, perhaps forever. For now, Helrin trots back to Leyu’Lin, capital of the Wood Elves, a request for bounty to be paid, and evidence of the kill in form of an item of Lorien's. A letter. "Lorien, be wary. The Adherency has been exposed, and many of its members made publicly known. I advise you travel in a group. Do NOT be cocky, your powers give you strength, but not extra eyes." It wold not be signed, and would be scrunched up. It is now dark, and no feet tread the road leading to all places.
