The House de Rivia

“On the wings of a sparrow.”

Edgar Sparrow de Rivia, the founder of House de Rivia, was sired by Brenius Chivay with one of the fourteen tragedies that befell him in his last day of life. Fostered first by the court in Aeldin, then by the Imperial Chamberlain in the Fringe, Edgar learned of politics, swordplay, and of his family’s notorious drinking as well as their famed roots.

After the downfall of his family’s empire and the departure of much of his kin back to Aeldin, Edgar was left on the streets with little more than a sword and a bag of seeds. He returned to the land, as the first generations of his ancestors had done in the Asulonian town of Rivia. He spent many years farming living as a common man, until he happened upon an abbey of the heretical Canon church and found divine inspiration. He expelled the residents, taking its land as his own, and dubbed this Rhoswen. He then gathered together his half-brothers and half-sisters of the Brenian line of House Chivay, and formed the House de Rivia, named in memory of the first home of House Chivay, and began in earnest to create a home he could call his home.

In the founding of the Barony of Rhoswen, I did not seek to presume the imperial glories of my ancestors. Instead, I sought to return to the roots of the hardened folk of Kaedrin. I looked to the fields, the pastures, and the stones. I envisioned to revive a people of diligence and honor, and to build a place of rustic beauty and artisanal productivity. I hoped to plant a seed, one that would grow and flourish towards the sun, and whose progeny would cover the countryside in the golden boughs of wheat, and burrow into the black loam of the earth.

-Edgar Sparrow de Rivia, in his memoirs on the founding of Rhoswen”

Seeking:

-Men and women of the fields, so that our seeds may be ever sown, our dough may be fresh, and the crows can be shooed from our grains.

-A man or woman of the beasts, so that our pastures and stables may teem with the feet and hooves of fresh meat and mount.

-A man of the anvil, so that the implements of our trades can be forged and mended.

-A man or woman of the stones, so that the walls of our houses may rise tall and strong.

-Men of the shield and sword, so that our lands may be guarded vigilantly against the terrors of men.

-A man or woman of the kitchen, so that our tables may be laden with the seasoned fruits of our labours.

-A man of our God, so that the glory of our Creator may shine upon our halls.

It is well advised that you report post-haste to the manor of the Baron de Rivia or send word to him promptly so that you may claim your protected housing and safe storage and join your fellow man in the tilling of the soils and laying of the stones of Rhoswen.

Creator Bless, and safe travels,

-Brn. Edgar Sparrow de Rivia

Cantonus Chivay sighs as he reads of this bastard house. "Interestin' to see the emergence of a family lead by a Sparrow. I suppose only time can tell how this will turn out."
