A Request For Guidance

A letter, one day, finds its way into the hands of the Holy Church. Perhaps it may start at a low level, sent in and lost in paperwork and passed up the ranks. One way or another, however, this envelope containing calligraphic, tasteful (Almost flowery) handwriting would find its way to people of importance in the Church, people who might actually be in a position to respond, whether they be a Deacon, Priest, or perhaps the head of the Church himself.

"I am greatly confused.

I have come from far away places, and find myself in this land now. I have read some of the publications of the Faith and considered the writings of the Church, but I do not understand many of them; I have questions. Reading theology and the excellent thesis of Deacon Jude are one thing, but considering and applying these works to my life are another.

Besides this, the Church, in my mind, is hazy. Doctrine and practice in the past has remained unclear; my parents told me that the Church had little impact in their lives, as they felt as though it was far too politically motivated in its words. I wish to see if there is any merit in this assertion, and if not, why is this perception present? Indeed, what services are held by the faith to the people? Not only this, but we have seen heresy being levied upon the Canon as of late. How does the Church respond to these arguments, and why are they so grossly wrong? Is there any truth in their words?

I have a great many questions about the Church, its doctrine and how it has changed over time, and my own life. I thusly wish, if a Priest or other official in the Church could find the time, to have a discussion on these topics.

I hope for a response to my letter, so that we may speak soon.

- Fredrik."

The old Deacon would sit on his dusty seat in the Cathedral of Leuvardeen issuing a response to the assailant,

“I thank you for addressing these pressing issues and composing a delightful read, and I shall give you the pleasure of a response. In regards to your issues concerning the dogma, well, the dogma is quite simple and clear according to the Church’s documents. There is only one god that created this blessed earth and humanity and that is the Creator. He created this universe upon which we live in and there is no other but him responsible for this creation. He is the source of what is good on this earth. Those who shun his sentiments and belief are deemed evil for denying his sentiments of good virtue.”

“Now, acknowledging your point of the church being fueled by a political merritt I would say that this idea is created by the current hostilities of the Cannon against the Waldenian schism, which was a result of political dissent between the current high pontiff’s (nearly extinct) family and the Waldenian house Rovin. “

“And to respond to your other points, I could say that there has been big amount of Church activity in Savoy spearheaded by the Bishop Kristoff of Hanseti as well in Karovia where I interact with the several denizens of the town by preaching the word of the Creator as well as holding mass for the peasants alike.”

“If you have any more questions do not hesitate to contact me or any other clergy member, or you can simply chose to follow the righteous path and join the church of the Cannon.”

A letter, composed in a similar style, shortly arrives after the sender has their response.

"Your words do make things more clear in some manners, but in others they merely restate what I already know. Is there perhaps a time where I could have a talk with one of the Church in person? Face to face speech often allows more to be said than by mere written talk.

- Fredrik"
