Mission

The men of the Constabulary are sworn to protect the smallfolk and lords of Adria alike. They will use their judgement and investigative skills to root out crimes, put ruffians and criminals in jail, and deliver capital punishment when needed. They uphold the laws of Oren and the King’s Peace while in loyalty to the Duke Franz, Count Stafyr and Montfort, and the assorted Barons of Adria.

Ranks

While all members are loyal to the leaders of Adria, they take commands from those in higher status within the group of them.

The Constable

The highest rank obtainable within the Constabulary. He who is appointed by the Duke himself. The Constable shows extreme skill with investigation, management, combat, and in administering justice. Many are grizzled soldiers or veteran sheriffs who have served under the Duchy for some time. They can enact a mass capital punishment.

The Sheriffs

The Sheriffs are those who have proved their mettle in the areas of crime and justice. They serve the Duchy and its people with a sense of duty and are respected amongst the lords of Adria. Many Sheriffs are given specific jurisdiction over a lower holding of Adria, such as those of landed knights, however all Sheriffs are to patrol and administer justice throughout the land. They have the ability to enact capital punishment.

The Deputies

Those who are proven to show worth and duty amongst the areas of crime. These are men who are organized by Sheriffs and the Constable when on manhunts or in a large investigation. Deputies are expected to investigate reported crimes and take their findings down. They do have the ability to place people under arrest, however capital punishment may not be given by them.

The Trainees

Men (and rarely a woman) who are learning the ropes of law and order. They will come along on assignments and patrols with the Sheriffs and Deputies after passing an interview with the Constable. Many do not complete their training or are simply rejected after being trained. While tough, becoming a Deputy (and possibly later a Sheriff) of Adria is a well-earned reward for those wishing to serve the homelands of Oren.

Code

Every Trainee, Deputy, and Sheriff are required to follow the Code of the Law-Keeper.

I . Protect all citizens of Adria, whether it be a simple farmer or the Duke himself.

II . Listen to those higher than you and respect those lower than you.

III. Always treat every suspect, citizen, foreigner, and Lord with absolute patience and dignity.
IV. Never put a slight on your honor, your fellow law-keepers’ honor, and the honor of the Constable.

V.  Always make sure to treat your suspects humanely in the public eye as to not cause more trouble and controversy.

VI.  Uphold and follow the laws of Oren at all times. All criminals will be judged by the Lexicon of Ashford

Uniform

Every Sheriff and Deputy of the Constabulary is expected to wear the standard uniform of leather, chain, and the black and green standard of the force. This is always required when on duty, attending meetings, and other official business. Anything done with or without the uniform is a representation of the force as a whole as well as a representation of the Constable. Any misbehaviour is a slight on the honor of your fellow law-keepers and the Constable.

Application

You walk into the keep of Eastcliff, ascending the steps you reach the Constable’s office, a well-built man with brown hair sits behind the desk, his green eyes scanning you up and down before he begins the interview. He warns you that many are not accepted and there are few second chances.

“What is your name, given (MC) and chosen (RP)?”

“What is your race?”

 

“What is your sex?”

“Age?”

“Why do you wish to join up with the Constabulary?”

“Previous military or law-keeping experience?”

“Preferred Weapon?”

“Any past arrests or punishments for a crime? I will look into the Justiciar’s records so don’t try to lie.”

“Are you willing to be moved to an Adrian holding of my choosing?”

“Where can my birds reach you? (Skype name)”

“How are you at following the chain of command? (Do you use TS)”
