OOC: Getting an Orc GM

Orcs don't have any GMs anymore. I'm not saying that we desperately need one, but honestly any other race would have had the entire rebuilding of the city done within a day. Tythus' Super Jail has enough Sandstone in it to build Sanhar 10 times over, but instead we're destroying the desert and hauling around shovels.

While were definitely more populated and developed lore-wise than Cat People, were pretty much on the same boat as them in terms of moderator support and cities/structural development.

We can't build a new town, or re-define regions in the cities because we don't have a GM dedicated to the race. It will likely severely limit our options in the future.

For the sand stone part, its fair that way. If he was spawning things to build a building, whether its allowed or not, that's bogus. It kills the economy and doesn't invoke RP. Look at shiftnative, he was buying dark wood, flint, bows, arrows, and leather armor up the arse when the server started.

As for a GM, support my GM application then. Like you said, too many GM's dedicated only to their race. I'd like to help so that more people then simply shiftnative and Availer(The only two I've seen at least. Ariel or w/e is fairly helpful as well) are around to help everyone, not just their own race.

The dwarfs do not have one either, but they have done much building, and new towns have been made without any GM involvement. And I do not think any of the GM leaders use their GM powers to benefit their race a lot. Yes a GM as a leader is always helpful, but a regular player, as a leader can be there to help more.

Building new towns, or expanding others, can be done with hard work between the Orcs. This could also bring great role play.

We dont need gm support for sandstone just trade and dig it up but remember to make it look good again

What I think he means is that all races have had GMs world edit and such their cities together and because we can't (and were rebuilding the capital) 'spawn' our resources we are severely limited to what we can do and how fast we can do it.

An example, if u don't kno about worldedit, would be that and admin can build walls to a city by.clicking 2 places and typing in the ext wall command.

Maybe if Alex's sand-quarry didn't eat GM's more would help ^.^

Seriously though, an orc GM would be a good idea, any candidates?

I swear it's not me making those holes.\

As for sand and building, I totally agree that collecting and building is more acceptable than spawning the materials, but look at the toll it's taken on the desert. Pick any given spot in the desert, and then dig 3 blocks down. You'll fall into a pit; pretty much the entire desert is this hollow pit with a layer of dirt and sand over top. We don't have anyone to regen all the needy parts of the desert, instead we only modreq ugly holes.

The other issue is that were building a new city in the shadow of old sub-regions.

I think the real issue is, sand is not a renewable resource, whereas cobble is virtually inexhaustible and wood is completely inexhaustible.

So I suggest the GMs create an area where sand and sandstone goes down, nearly to bedrock, and then regen the area once or twice a week. Make it the Orc's public mine.

I agree that Orc's are reliant on the least renewable resource in minecraft, and that something needs to be done to help the Orc's before they either give up using sandstone to build or the desert is completely ravaged.

It's not even that hard to fit into the RP - just like the Snowstorm in Alstion you could send out a server broadcast "a Storm from the Desert is coming. Orc flee from the desert, taking refuge in their homes" etc.

Then the mod's could regen the surrounding desert and/or add a few layers of sand onto a desert (Like in real life, the sands in a desert never stay in the same place, dunes appear where there was flat desert before).

But yeah, the desert at the moment is quite a eyesore. I'm sure lots of people would like that to change (deserts can be very beautiful) :)

I personally believe an ORC GM would be very helpful

We don't need a Orc Gm

We are doing alright by our self..

I would apply to a GM bec you guys keep hassling me about it every 5 mints

but Im not sure it might take my RP... time..

Id Rather have the Sanstorm thing.

I agree with Mogroka.

So we are not in need of a GM for this reason. But we might need a GM to keep track of people, (I've seen quite a few who use flyhack above us without the time to print to see their names) and be able to fix the regions and such.

I suggest [...] an area where sand and sandstone goes down, nearly to bedrock, and then regen the area once or twice a week [...] the Orc's public mine.

This seems like a solid idea, completely aside from the GM issue. It can only result in less landscape griefery.

((Us doing it ourselves is doing two important things for the orcs. 1. Brings us together for a common cause. 2. Gives us all more pride in what is being done. That said, yes it is taking longer than we wished because every time we run out of a chest of sandstone it takes ten times longer to renew that chest than say if we built with wood or stone. This, however gives us the chance to reward donations of sandstone with property and title in the new cities. There are many reasons we have not moved onto Sanjezal yet. We are making Sanhar much bigger and better now. We were going to concentrate on Sanjezal first BUT when Sanhar was griefed we were tasked by Availer to rebuild it...this made us focus on Sanhar for our first project. Sanhar is about 75% finished and is turning out better than i could have ever expected. It is also great that we are getting experience in rebuilding a city and coordinating efforts so when we move onto Sanjezal we will know exactly what is to be done. A fresh, larger new Sanhar will also give fine places for many people to live while they are working close-by building the Capital Sanjezal. So far in Sanhar there is at least three times the shop-area with the inclusion of six very large house/shops as well as a housing areas that are already three times the size and growing(Not to mention we have made sure and add large basements to every structure, even small shops). Through this hard work we are gaining experienced workers who earned their positions through good work...and most importantly we will have had time to go over many ideas from the community on what Sanjezal should look like. So far i have seen a few ideas and they are EPIC. Who says Orcs can't build indeed... I'm confident many players will be paying 5$ for a switch soon. Keep the faith bruddahs...oh yeah and I'm sure we will get a good Orc GM soon because Krugmar is going to be the center of Aegis :D))

OOC: I made a suggestion about adding a sand/sandstone quarry or two to reduce grief and facilitate the building of orc-style settlements.

I don't want to see an orc GM that just hands out sandstone and patches sand holes, that's a waste of a billet. I'd rather see GMs that do general upkeep for all the races, rather than just focusing on their own. Mogroka should not be it, we need him ruining faces and enslaving concubines.
