VL 298 Share Posted July 15, 2015 A neat letter is penned and delivered to the home of every mali'aheral in the Citadel. Mali'aheral of The Citadel, The Silver Treasury has amassed nearly 15,000 minas from your obligatory tithes. On behalf of the Silver Council, I, Suliin'thill Llumnane, would like to offer you my most sincere gratitude. We realize the grave disappointment this tax caused many of our citizens, but it was a necessary evil. The Silver State is now able to purchase the charter we need to expand our borders. Our astonishing progress in obtaining the required funds means that the obligatory tithe has now come to and end, and the weekly tax ((Every Monday)) will never commence. We offer you our thanks once more. maehr'sae hiylun'ehya Suliin'thill Llumnane Okarir'akaln SHAME Later that day at the center of the Citadel... “Shame,” a mali’aheral bell-ringer calls out. "Mali'aheral of the Citadel. You have toiled endlessly, providing resources for the Silver State and then surrendering your own finances for the sake of its expansion. You are better Elves." "Shame," more mali'aheral join the bell-ringer, chanting silently as he speaks. "There are those among us, however, that indulge in their greed and refuse to pay the obligatory tithe. What makes Braxus Ni'leya above you? Nothing. We are equals in purity and yet he refuses to contribute to his home, to his people; to his country." “Shame,” their volume increases. "The cabinet of the Okarir'akaln encourages you to ask Braxus Ni'leya why he believes he is above other mali'aheral." "Shame." “Shame,” the bell-ringer would point out Braxus in the crowd, as the chanting continues. Here's an OOC list of our greatest contributors. Contributions are still accepted! The List 1st Place: ZBLBAC5 2nd Place: Kowaman 3rd Place: GeneralKaun More shaming to come...
TavernLich 324 Share Posted July 15, 2015 Vendir Ni’leya shakes his head with an air of annoyance about his person, “What is the use of shaming others? You shame my brother for refusing to offer minas to an Aheral whom recently joined the city? An Aheral who was recently inducted into the city as a glorified banker? Shame, you say? There is no shame in lawful distrust, only wisdom.”
Samler 1566 Share Posted July 16, 2015 Seth simply shakes his head at the 'shaming' as it is clearly not mali'aheral tradition.

"If any mali'aheral mistrusts my management of the Silver Treasury, they may put forth their complaint to the Triumvirate. They may also pay their obligatory tithe to the Sohaer directly. "Lawful distrust" is not an excuse. Even you contributed; what is your point?"

Vendir releases a wavering sigh, his anger dispersed as he strides forth. The Evarir looms over the Okarir’akaln with a domineering presence, eyes peering bellow to meet Suliin’thill’s gaze, “Hm.. You are an intelligent Mali’aheral, Okarir’akaln. I, too, pride myself on my level of knowledge. However, there is a difference between you and I. You shall soon see.” The Evarir offers Suliin’thill a wry smile before pivoting on a heel as he saunters off, flashing the Okarir’akaln a final wave of goodbye, “You shall soon see…"
Gavin_ 2027 Share Posted July 16, 2015 Braxus arches an inquisitive brow. "You dare attempt to publicly humiliate and shame me?. Dear Okarir'akaln, where were you to be seen when I among many others toiled for days in the mines and forests gathering resources for the state?. That is right. You were nowhere to be seen. Your recent claim to power has done well to expose your foul and repulsive nature. You speak of greed, yet you are the one who imposes taxes upon the denizens of Haelun'or?, a disgrace which has never faced the mali'aheral people before?. It is you who is the greedy one." he takes a step back, eyeing those around him. "The current government regime revolves around 'Traditionalism' yet every day a tradition seems to be broken by our leaders. Am I truly the one to shame for discarding the liberal ideas which are being forced upon us by mali such as our dear Okarir'akaln?. I shall let you, the people, be the judge." with this, he strides off, his head shaking in disgust.
Stag 3234 Share Posted July 16, 2015 "As long as one produces progress for elcihi then they cannot truly be shamed. It is up to the individual to uphold their own dignity. It matters not what another mali may say of your name so long as you remain dedicated to the maehr'sae hiylun'ehya and strive for progression. Purity does not come from a sum of minas so minas holds no ability to shame. If there was something to shame it would be the lack of dedication to producing offspring. Though this is likely due to the development of the citadel. Carry on with your duties Okarir. Let shame drive you if you will but don't allow it to hold you back." Maheral says with a nod. The Okarir'akaln makes a quick remark to Braxus, obviously not interested in speaking to his kind further. "I assure you that I have gathered a vast selection of wood for the construction of the Citadel. Despite my continued efforts in producing resources I paid the obligatory tithe anyway, as did most of our citizens. Your hard work does not make you exempt, for it did not make anyone else exempt. Take responsibility, apologize, and do what is right." Suliin'thill does not respond to the Maheral. He is apparently confused with the wording of the statement. He bows to him anyway and nods in understanding.

Caelria 2619 Share Posted July 16, 2015 "That was an awfully traditional punishment, over the disobedience of an awfully traditional law." A lone voice rings from aside. "Perhaps discuss a change in name for your party, because I've yet to see a single act of traditional legislation besides law enforcement." Mind you, I love what the city has architecturally become. Having contributed so very much of my time and effort to it has been my absolute honor and pleasure. This quote unquote political party nonsense is, however, quite off putting - especially since the spread of rumors that every councilor must be a part of it. It is beginning to seem like more of an oligarchy than the democracy or republic our elders intended."

"This argument has been brought up multiple times. It is a very naive one. The Traditionalist Party's name stems from our value of tradition in terms of purity, which this party has /not/ changed. The Traditionalist Party is one to support progression. Without change of some of our cultural ideals there cannot be progression and therefore the maehr'sae hiylun'ehya cannot be pursued to its fullest extent. For example, the obligatory tithe was not ideal, but it was necessary to our border expansion and our industrial superiority." "As for your allegations of corruption, you are welcome to present your evidence to a panel of parir'tiran, if you have any at all."
Caelria 2619 Share Posted July 16, 2015 "Just because you call an argument naive, does not make it naive. Supporting evidence to the naivete of my argument would be appreciated. You are simply using the special pleading fallacy to your advantage, claiming that since I called your policies non-traditional; your traditionalism in a single respect proves me wrong. We have a functioning mine and an already claimed island to our side which we have neglected to build upon. Rapid expansionism has never 'traditionally' been a desire of our people." "I believe it is the burden of the government, as servants of the people, to prove that they are not corrupt through pure action- as opposed to the people they serve to prove that they are through vigilante investigation. Though I never accused you of corruption, and simply mentioned the current rumors." Kelthran softly folds his arms, staring at the Okarir'akaln. "Now is hardly the time for a full debate. Perhaps over tea later?"
