ski_king3 0 Share Posted August 3, 2015 A large poster is hung upon the Haelun'or noticeboard for all to see. A triumvirate requires three, a number it presently lacks. With the death of former Medi'ir Avern'dionne, time has come to restore our blessed Triumvirate once more. Thus, an election must be held to fill the vacant position of Medi'ir. A public voting will be held at once. The criteria to hold such a position are as follows: 1.) Maintenance. The library and all responsibilities of its upkeep are the imperatives of the Medi’iran.2.) Infrastructure. Assisting in the appointment of Okariran to position and supervising the duties of these Okariran is also the responsibility of a Medi’ir.3.) Counsel. It is the job of the Medi’ir to provide counsel to the Sohaer in order to better inform decision making. Therefore, Medi’ir must be well informed of all matters involving the City, both in domestic and foreign matters.4.) Aiding and abetting. The Medi’ir must provide aid to the Sohaer in all ways possible to help him/her perform his/her duty.5.) Economy. Management of trade and designation of trading partners of the state are responsibility of the Medi’iran.6.) Service. The Medi’iran must be at the service of the city, with no task for the betterment of all below himself/herself. The Medi’iran shall perform any task for the advancement and health of the Mali’aheral that they serve.7.) Example. More than anything, the Medi’iran shall represent the best aspects of all Mali’aheral and serve as a role-models for all. With exceptional purity, and exceptional citizenship, the Medi’iran must demonstrate for each citizen the pinnacle of Mali’aheral expectation for behaviour. To nominate oneself, a public speech must be made. The nomination will last two elven days, then the election will commence. It is anticipated that the Maheral will count the votes as necessary. VL 298 Share Posted August 4, 2015 Suliin'thill Llumnane takes the stand at the center of Haelun'or where he begins to speak in a deeply charismatic tone, his ideals seeping forth rhythmically. Every leader should be decisive, bold, and strong for his people. His charisma must inspire progression and success in others. A crucial trait that most leaders overlook and ignore, however, is the ability to admit their mistakes to their people. Progress is impossible without multiple trials, and mistakes must always be acknowledged by the one at fault before his/her next attempt. Today, I sincerely apologize to the blessed citizens of The Citadel for the abandonment of my most prized philosophy - impartial caring. I have realized that all my political actions up until the Elibar’acal debate were completely in the sole interests of the liberal Traditionalist Party, rather than the entirety of the State. The tax that I set up was greedy and ridiculous, as was the shaming that followed. This I acknowledge, but let it be known that it was to further the agenda of the Traditionalist party, at the request of the triumvirate. I apologize for being part of the problem. I refuse to participate in the greed of the Traditionalist Party any longer. That being said, I take my leave of the Traditionalist Party to pursue the representation of more conservative and /truly/ traditional mali’thill as Medi’ir. This will make me the only current government potential outside of the Traditionalist Party, save for our Tilruir’leyun. The High Council was never meant to be filled with members from a single totalitarian party, but rather represent the voices of many. This obvious corruption in the appointment of Okarir has made me realize the necessity of a policy change that I will push forward as Medi’ir. No single party (unless approved by the majority of citizens in Haelun’or through vote) may hold majority in The High Council. A totalitarian representation of the Silver State has /never/ been accepted knowingly - and never should be. Another extremely important and traditional policy change I will fight for is mali’aheral isolationism. From the dawn of our nation, we have closed our gates to nearly all inferiors, save the few that possessed ample knowledge in both research topics and their inferiority. Even then, these below-par denizens lived in a separate housing section and were not allowed to roam elcihi freely. Our current situation dictates the allowance of inferiors by our Sohaer on a whim, with reasons ranging from bribery (the providing of resources in exchange for an abode) or simply being a minor Orenian noble (the presence of a Baron’s daughter at the Elibar’acal debate). Furthermore, we have a Bortu living as an equal in the lin of a Mali’thill. This is unacceptable, no matter said inferior’s contribution.. At the very least, I promise you, the TRUE citizens of Haelun’or stricter standards on the allowance of inferiors and a separate housing section. Finally, along with my apology and my leave of the liberal Traditionalist Party, I swear to re-adopt my philosophy of impartial caring. I refuse to value one true, pure mali’aheral more than another simply because of their opinions. Your liberal Sohaer questions the purity of true mali'thill with gold (the Elibar’acal’s) when he has surrounded himself with inferiors as equals. I swear to rectify this injustice. maehr’sae hiylun’ehya Suliin'thill takes his leave after bowing in respect and apology to the citizenry.
Stag 3234 Share Posted August 4, 2015 Should I be needed simply forward the votes to my office. Should the voting take place and finish before the next 4 elven seeds pass I ask that the okarir'indor take my place and count the votes. That is all. ~ * ~ Iatrilemar Elervathar ((I will be gone till saturday. if I am not back in time have lana count))
VL 298 Share Posted August 5, 2015 Suliin'thill walks up to the stand. "It seems the deadline for the opposition has been extended indefinitely - how typical."
Blocky 151 Share Posted August 6, 2015 ((Apologies for the delay. something came up OOC'ly that I couldn't ignore)) “Ahern ito nae’leh” She’d glance to Suliin’thill before ascending to the podium, “Your apology would almost have meant something if you didn’t simply shift the blame away from yourself.” “Lliran.” She announces, “For too long, Councillors such as Suliin’thill have been lying to you. They claim they’re here to serve you, when in fact, they’re serving themselves; and why? They are driven by their own desire to maintain their authority. Their need to stay in power eclipses their duty to govern. That ends tonight. Tonight, I give you the truth. And the truth is this: Suliin’thill has failed you.” “Work hard? Play by the rules? You aren’t guaranteed success. Each and every one of you can’t even have a mina to your name without being publicly shamed. Councillors such as my opposition have ensured to that. We’ve been crippled by the foolishness of taxation and shaming. And that is the root of the problem: This foolishness.” “Let me be clear. You are entitled to anything and everything. You are entitled to anything, and everything.” “Haelun’or was built on the spirit of industry, not the philosophy that you and everything that was yours is the States. You build your future. It isn’t handed to you. And the problem within Eltriumvirate is that haven’t given you the tools to build it. You’ve only been given enough the bare minimum to live on. The only way for us to serve you is to give you the means to serve yourselves. Well, that’s exactly what I intend to do. Suliin’thill may have apologies for his taxation of Haelun’or but has he done to rectify this? I will return these minas to you. Every. Last. One.” “In the next few elven weeks if I am elected, Eltriumvirate will introduce a program with one simple goal; put any unemployed Mali’aheral that wants to work, to work. If you want a job, you’ll get one. However to maintain this program we’ll have to rethink the absence of a monetary system with Haelun’or. We can’t maintain the welfare state as we know it and prosper in this industrious age. Now, that’s not a popular thing to say. Suliin’thill himself was scolded for breaking an ancient tradition. However our lack of a monetary system is not a tradition.”Stepping back from behind the podium Elwyn disperses several copies of the ancient and torn document (https://www.lordofthecraft.net/topic/42148-sale-of-homes-in-haelunor/). “Haelun’or was a nation where the decision to live beyond a ten by ten metre apartment was yours; a land where you could actually build you future. This document is a testament to that.” “Most candidates wouldn’t dare utter those words at the risk of being publicly ostracised, but I’d rather assume this office and accomplish something of value than to simply secure a position of authority and do nothing at all. We live in an industrious age! And as such it has become increasingly apparent that this state demands bold, persistent experimentation. It is common sense to take a method and try it. And if it fails, admit it frankly and try another. But above all, try something. We’ve eradicated homeless and hunger but now we must try something newer before it fails us. If this succeeds, we will reinvent our pursuit of Elmaehr’sae hiylun’ehya. If we fail in our attempt, we will admit it frankly and try another. But above all, we must try something. To improve is to change but to perfect is to change often.” maehr’sae hiylun’ehya
ski_king3 0 Author Share Posted August 6, 2015 At the end of both speeches, Laethis allows Elwyn to drop from the stage. He himself ascends to the podium, standing before the mali'aheral present. He scans the crowd, his typical calculating gaze peering at the various individuals watching. "To begin, I would like to thank each candidate for speaking today. Your willingness to serve the State during our most glorious Silver Age illustrates a dedication that any pure mali'aheral must respect, if nothing more. You have spoken sharply and carefully, and with that, I thank you." He turns about, nodding to each of them, offering a pleasant smile. However, as his gaze lingers upon Suliin'thill, his expression shifts. Finally, he returns his attention to the crowds before him, a look of amusement painting his piercing gaze. "Yet it would be inappropriate of me to not point out that one of our speakers has lied. One of our speakers blames the Traditionalist Party for all of his wrongdoings. He blames the Party for the taxation which he implemented, and the tactic of shaming which he so boldly pursued. His words are meant to mislead, for they are not representations of reality. I will not pretend that the taxation was not my idea. Haelun'or required funds and its citizens had such that was not needed. However, I would have seen it pursued in a far less strict and adamant fashion, if it were my choice. Yet I entrusted the task to Suliin'thill, and he pursued it aggressively and without apology. It was his undertaking, and to try and separate himself from blame is a shameful lie. It is his first unacceptable deception. Likewise, it was his idea and his idea alone that the citizens of Haelun'or who did not pay be shamed. To pass this blame along as well is worse than the first transgression. I believed in my Okariran, and thus I stood by and allowed him to pursue his goals. To translate this into the Party's sole culpability for his actions is ludicrous slander unacceptable among mali'aheral. It is his second unacceptable deception. You also speak of the wanton allowance of inferiors within the city. You claim that I allow such simply out of greed and bribery. This accusation, once more, is nothing more than a lie. We house four inferiors within our walls, and I name them Dizzy Irongrinder, Aengoth, Dain Stormcrow and Herun Athna. The first two provide more than mere goods to 'bribe' me with. They provide the knowledge of golemancy, a skill nearly lost among our people. To say that his is not an acceptable contribution to our blessed Haelun'or is an affront to our race's tradition of golemantic practices. The third, Dain Stormcrow, in truth does primarily supply smithed goods. This much shall not be denied. Yet the Okarir'akaln only knows of this because he's spoken many times of using this inferior for his own purposes. As he only focuses on his skill as a smith, he fails to recognize the other contributions of Dain, like his assistance in the construction of the Citadel from its beginning, or his sharing of the knowledge of smithing with mali'aheral. Likewise, he has provided valuable information to the State on several occasions which has assisted us in our actions. He is valuable beyond mere goods, just as the aforementioned are. Lastly stands Herun Athna, a Paladin who has worked closely with Crumena, a trusted and valued citizen of Haelun'or. Though he is human, he has extensive knowledge from his many years. He has promised to document much of what he has learned for the Eternal Library in exchange for his housing in Haelun'or. The payment of knowledge is greater than any other, and as such, your arguments are once again moot. This slander, once more, is unreasonable for a would-be member of the Triumvirate. It is his third unacceptable deception. Suliin'thill, your lies demonstrate how unfit for the position of Medi'ir you truly are. You are a fool who hungers for power, and I hope that with this laid bare before your fellow citizens, you are treated as you deserve."Laethis steps down from the podium and departs.
Sky 0 Share Posted August 7, 2015 Accompanied as usual by her two brothers, Karinah observed the Sohaer's speech from an acceptable distance and once he finished, Karinah made her way towards the pedestal. With such a speech conducted, it was easily the best time to come forth and speak as there were those gathered already. With a simply clearing of her throat and her two brothers standing by her side, she began to speak. Greetings citizens of Haelun'or, It is clear from what you have heard prior to myself that there is animosity between the speakers and have unproffesionally allowed it to sink into their minds, even alter the way they speak to their kin. Albeit they have their reasons, it is neither the place or time. When a pillar of the hierarchy is missing, it is not the time to squabble at one another for their inadequacies nor is it the time to pronounce another as the reason for the past mistakes. It is time to move forward, to prosper and evolve from the muck, for us to be able to look back and be proud in what we do. Thus, I believe as a new face here as well as a strong willed individual that I would make a far superior candidate than those before me. Yes, you may know my family's views and stand-points but simply put, my actions are for the betterment of ourselves and the mali'thill. Throughout my family, I am known as a pillar of what mali'thill should look up to becoming. I am Karinah Elibar'acal and I nominate myself for the vacant medi'ir position. As such she would smile, give a soft bow and descend from the pedestal, being greeted by her two brothers once more to simply walk off and observe from afar.
