Armagh's Awakening

The coastline seemed to retreat as the gruff voices of the Adunian's echoed from the meeting outside, the water rippling.

The seagulls strayed from their usual spots, flying inwards towards the coast. The wind grew stronger as the clouds darkened, those present felt something very, very, wrong.

“He is the one who devours, he is the beast that destroys”

The whisper echoed through the group of small children, the rumors of the beast now growing once again. Ever since the voyage of seven, the creature has lain dormant.

Many of those present decided to form up at the ship to tie it down, to assure it was not swept away by rogue currents. Though this is what started the beginning of the end. The gargantuan tentacle torn up through the water, waves slamming against the coastline as the tide of the area rose a few meters. Many panicked as the ballistas nearby were manned, the very back of the ship torn apart with a single strike!

Those on the ship quickly bailed, swimming to the shore aside for one of them… The lone Adunian who wished to face the creature which attacked his home, for his memory shall live on.

“Byrn!”

The screams of the Adunians echoed along the coastline as the tentacle rose up, a mouth attached to the end of it as it completely consumed him. The sound of screaming and flesh ripping filling the already noisy area.

The onslaught continued as the tentacle tore through the remains of the defenses, arrows and ballista bolts being discharged into the beast with no avail. Until a whole load of alcohol was poured onto the sea, this lead to the great smoke clouds which loomed over the town that day. The igniting of the alcohol sent the polluted water into flames! The tentacle reered once more as it flipped the destroyed, now flaming boat. It landing with an echoed thud onto the make-shift coastal wall. The creature sunk back into the ocean and disappeared once again, as quickly as it came.

Destruction had been felt upon Armagh, as many people believed that the voyage had caused the ancient beast to roam once again..

"The Descendants did this, and we are doomed."

Adeon of Rhoswen stares out at the smokey water from a nearby hill, a grim look on his face as he observes the chaos. He shakes his head before leading his horse back down the slope.

"Just wonderful."

Seardrick Dieghmont, one of the present Adunians, rubs the back of his head. He had been knocked unconscious by rubble thrown as one of the great tentacles smashed into a wall during the attack. He shudders at the thought of the gargantuan creature and thinks to himself, "I've got to help defeat it."

Seardrick, being an engineer, feels that through the careful construction of machines designed for the soul purpose of exterminating the beast, it could be defeated. He immediately begins formulating designs in his head, sketching anything he thinks may be of use.
