The Pegasus
Habitat:
When the pegasus isn't soaring in the sky, it can be found in the highest of mountain ranges until the harsh winter months arrive, when it retreats to the lower slopes to seek refuge from the bitter cold.
Description:
Pegasi resemble magnificent white draft horses with elegant feathered wings. Their coats sparkle under the sun in a manner reminiscent of light playing over new-fallen snow. They are wild beasts, capable of staving a soldier's head in with a well-placed blow from one of their hooves. While they seldom take to the ground, preferring the sky, when they do, they are swift runners. Pegasi that haven't been battle trained are far more likely to fly away then fight, except when their foals are in danger. Those who wish to ride a pegasus must raise it from birth, yet still it would take years for a pegasus to accept someone as their rider. The strength of the pegasus rivals that of the greatest of warhorses, making it both a frightening and extraordinary sight to behold. It must be noted that pegasi can't be bred like normal horses, as they fail to reproduce under captivity and are very rare, with only few hunters having been able to spot one to this day, disallowing armies to create a host of pegasi riders.
