Ooc: On Blah

Just a brief OOC notice for folks.

This has been in discussion for some time and I've noticed it being a minor issue, not a major one but an issue nonetheless, surrounding the sort of strict adherence to blah for newer orcs.

I myself had the benefit of, obviously, playing a wood elf so I had the opportunity to pick up blah slowly myself - and work it into my character's speech with the approving nods of the surrounding orcs as Phaedrus slowly adopted their culture.

However while some orcs have the benefit of interacting with patient players, it seems some are just inherently intimidated by getting blah wrong, or even having to speak it at all due to the hassle. In worst cases they are named whitewash and cast out.

In an effort to extend a hand out to players that have considered making an orc, and an effort to make the actual roleplay behind orcish society easier, - the development of one's character, the advancing of various goals and the coordination between characters in RP. We will no longer be strictly holding people to the standard of speaking full blah. We've already done it with some players, honestly, but at this point we've decided to just go ahead and make it official. This has also been done in the past.

If you're just starting out with the orcs then I suggest making a younger orc, so that the general reasoning for the lack of high blah vocabulary and garbled language can be explained as both a lack of knowledge in the slang and also smaller, less obtrusive tusks.

Blah will still be used regularly and eventually we hope you will join us in picking it up. This is basically a way to allow new orcs to get their feet wet and proceed at their own, comfortable pace.

We invite you to join us and help us expand the cultural RP of the orcs once again, as we attempt to redefine ways of bringing a unique experience to the Orcish playerbase. Both through events and simple day to day RP.

Moved to The Great Library. It shall be sorted into the appropriate category shortly.

If you feel this is a mistake, please contact myself or any FM and we'll restore it.
