What’s the rule you agree with the most?: ”Cyber bullying is strictly prohibited, and will not be condoned in any shape or form. If you promote, or take part in cyber bullying amongst the community, you will be punished just as severely.” I’ve witnessed this sort of behavior rip many communities apart at the seams. Unfortunately it’s often caused by a failure to seperate IC and OOC… something many players tend to have trouble with.

Are there any rule(s) that confuse you or don’t make sense?: Not really.

How did you find out about Lord of the Craft?: Scoured the internet for MC roleplaying opportunities. It’s one of the few mediums I haven’t tried yet.

What is roleplaying?: When I try to talk new people into roleplaying (tabletop or gmod usually) I try to explain to them that Roleplaying is like participating in one massive improv exercise. You create a character in your head and dive headfirst into a world where from that moment on, you do your best to become them. Live through their eyes.

What is metagaming?: Metagaming is the act of taking OOC information and using it to give yourself a(n) (often unfair) advantage ICly. I would imagine it particularly comes into play in political RP and combat RP situations where surprise is meant to factor in.

What is powergaming?: When a tiny elven girl manages to take down four human knights… powergaming is probably involved. Powergaming involves your character being ungodly powerful and nearly unkillable. While many view powergaming as a particularly heinous offence, they forget that powergaming is a typical path for new roleplayers to take. They need guidance, not a heavy hand.

Biography:

“Vaut mieux prévenir que guérir.” - Ancient Auvergnian Proverb

To prevent is better than to cure. Félix (fey-leeks) could not remember how often he heard the phrase. His father used to say that it was their family motto. They were the de Montauban (duh mont-oh-bahn) family, one of the lost Auvergnian families, and medicine was their passion. Since the golden days of yore they had served as the physicians to Kings, Emperors, Knights, and Emissaries from across the world, pioneering medical advances and research (all with dashing Auvergnian mustaches)!

-Well, at least that’s what his father had told him. But it seemed that everywhere the roaming family (Félix, his father, mother, and two sisters) went, nobody had ever heard the name de Montauban. Athera, Vailor… they felt like refugees at best. Sure, there was always war and plenty of need for a doctor, but allegiances switched so often that nowhere ever really felt like home. As a migrant child, Félix came to appreciate the cultures and races he was exposed to: The Wood Elves, and their affinity for nature. His Human kin, and their citadels of stone. Rows of armies clad in glittering plate and brandishing fearsome weaponry in the name of their noble lord. The High Elves, that noble race whose presence alone provided an aura of mystique and reverence. From the saftey of war camps he bore witness to the awe-inspiring brutality of the Orcs, their hulking figures tearing holes into battle formations. Athera and Vailor came alive to him.

Little by little the Auvergnian boy became a man, and grew his own finely trimmed Auvergnian mustache. From his family he developed a passion for medicine, and a respect for his native culture. But what was his purpose? Surely he was destined for great things… after all, he was a de Montauban! His mind turned to contemplation and self reflection, a deep period of soul searching with dark clouds gathered about his head. He never forgot the day that the first ray of enlightenment broke through the storm clouds. A name, short and sweet came to him: Xan. He had heard it before, often from local storytellers and those calling themselves pilgrims. An aengul, one of those blessed beings, devoted to guardianship. Their tales and legends stirred Félix’s blood, igniting a flame in his heart. He must learn more of this Aengul, and of its noble followers.

Félix stands at 5’11 with loose, curly brown hair down to his shoulders. He has forest green eyes and a fine Auvergnian mustache and soul patch. Armor is typically not part of his attire, but an old rapier usually hangs from his hip in a beaten up leather scabbard that once perhaps looked worthy of being a family heirloom. His breeches are tucked into old cavalry boots, which match his gloves. Blue is apparently one of his favorite colours (or maybe it’s just the color the jacket was when his mother gave it to him).
