What is roleplaying?: (temporarily) Leaving your own personality and taking the role of another, doing everything as they would do.

What is metagaming?: Doing or saying something that your character wouldn't be able to do or say, for example if you (in real life) know a building is going to explode but your character doesn't, you can have your character tell everyone the building is going to explode.

What is powergaming?: Ignoring logic and sense to give your character an advantage.

Character’s name: Brighten Taft

Character’s gender: Male

Character’s race: Dark Elf

Character’s age: 24

Biography: Brighten was born to Thrader and Lauriena Taft. His mother was an alchemist, selling potions of all sorts. His father, Thrader, owned the potions shop, though he really had no knowledge of potions. However, he was said to be one of the fastest in the land. Brighten always aspired to be just like him. When Brighten was ten years of age, he stole one of his mother’s speed potions. When he drank it, he was extremely fast and ran around the city, showing off his impressive speed. His father laughed at him, saying he would never be that fast again and that it was just a coincidence. Though his mother didn’t allow him to take potions anymore, each day he would take a speed potion and drink it, giving him the speed he desired.

 

As Brighten grew older, he became obsessed with the potions, so much that he even saw it as a career path. He would bet on races he would run in while under the influence of the potions. He would steal people’s bags and money, before they could notice that their items were gone. Over time, the speed potions started to affect his system. He actually became permanently faster! However, the potions began to corrupt his mind and he saw it that he could do any crime, anywhere, anytime.

 

When he was 22, Brighten became so cocky that he was convinced that he could rob the bank of the city. He ran up, kicked the teller, and tried to grab all of the loot. After he had filled his pockets, he tried to escape, but guards grabbed him. He was beaten and sentenced to execution, but ran before the deed could be done. He has been on the run, stealing what he can, ever since.

Ambitions: To be the fastest in the lands

Strengths/Talents: Fast, cunning

Weaknesses/Inabilities: Egomaniac, addicted to potions, thinks he can do anything
